Okay, every one, lets have a week that we can be proud of!!

06-30-2008, 11:40 AM
hey everyone!
it's official. i've started my new "work" schedule..or should i say..not so much work schedule! ha! :) and they already called me last night to get me to work today! wtf! i knew it!
so i started myself on my new daily routine, of getting up at 730am, putting on my workout clothes and getting my workout in right away. and i did it! and then i made a great smoothie, had a luna bar and now i'm gonna get started on my mile long list of stuff to do before dh gets back.

ok..gotta go. i'll be back later!

06-30-2008, 11:44 AM
Bring on the new week!!

06-30-2008, 12:49 PM
I'm ready...although I may be more ready because it's a short week. Ordering a new scale for work. There are two of us on LA here and since our center's closing, we're going to weigh each other. It might be fun!

06-30-2008, 06:55 PM
Wow - Where is everyone? Having a great day I hope!

Not much new here. I had a long, frustrating weekend. I just don't know what to do anymore. I've been eating really good lately and I've even been exercising almost everyday. AND NOTHING! The scale just goes back and forth between the same 2 lbs. This has never happened to me before. (Except for when I haven't been following the plan.) I'm wondering about 2 things. I have no LA lites left, so I have been using the South Beach snack bars (and I try to go with the 100 cal ones.) I'm wondering if they are just not working for me like the lites did and I'm thinking this week maybe I won't use them.
The other thing I'm wondering is if I might not need more food ( I am on the old gold plan) with the exercise I am doing. I have been running 3-5 miles and then bike riding 3-5 miles a day, about 5 days a week. Depending on how much I do it takes me about 45 minutes to 75 minutes. So I don't think it meets the over 5 hours a week to move to the blue plan. Besides, I was once switched to blue because the COD realized how much I was working out and they decided to switch me, but then switched me back because I stopped losing.
So I'm thinking maybe to try blue but without the bars. Or maybe just stay on gold and stop the bars. Or maybe stay on gold, stop the bars and add 1/2 protein a day. I also thought about not exercising this week, but it took a lot for me to get back into the routine and I don't want to get out of it. I don't know what to do. Anyone have any ideas?
Hope everyone else is doing well!
Have a great evening!

Hey everyone...

Sorry I haven't been posting much.. I've been busy with fires and then the whole "reunion weekend" with my classmates had me runnin' around like a headless chicken.. I'm glad the planning process is over but I'm really missing my friends at this point.. We had a fantastic time..

On Friday we met at a really nice club downtown for drinks and appitizers. On Saturday we took families too the zoo and then met at a really posh place in the north valley, surronded by trees. It's an old home that's been renovated and turned into a meeting place/cultural center... Really an amazing place..

Needless to say I wasn't too concerned about staying on plan.. This was one weekend where we just concentrated on having fun. Liz, even not knowing many of my friends had a great time too.

Anyway, back on plan now and ready to go!!!

06-30-2008, 07:30 PM
Hey everyone.

So i've been a bit MIA but i'm still around. As you must have guessed i've been a little off plan but i'm trying to be strategic. I've been stalling for a bit and i noticed if i'm off plan a few days then get back on i see a drop so i was doing that and i'm back on plan today so hopefully in the next few days i'll see that drop. I'm not up so the only place i can go from here is down. Its kind of crunch time for me. Its been exactly 6mo since i started and i'm a bit disappointed that i'm not at goal yet but i'm trying to look on the bright side, atleast i began the changing process. I knew it wasnt going to happen overnight so i'm still proud of myself. I'm still hoping to get to my goal by July 4th tho & thats why i'm getting serious this week .

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Debbie, You are so close, stick with it, and you will get there. I also sometimes had that effect. It only worked when I was being extra diligent on plan and then ate a bit extra... I think it just spurred my metabolism or convinced my body that I wasn't in fact starving, and it could not be a LOT off plan, just a tad. For me it was on business trips where I was trying really hard to be on plan, but even the best choices were not perfect.

Gonnabe, really what you need to consider is how many calories you are burning off and not how many hours you are taking to do it. I think the tipping point for me is somewhere around 1500 calories per week. If you are burning fewer than that, you probably don't need any extra food. 1500-2000 is a gray area. Over 2000 calories a week, and you really should add some extra calories.

07-01-2008, 09:46 AM
Hey everyone, just thought I would finally contribute and not lurk as much as I have been. I go to my cod today (gulp) but I think I have done really well. I had a scrapbooking party at my sisters last night and did really well. It was the first time I didn't go straight for the chips and dip and instead just stuck to the veggies w/o dip and the grapes. And the event was actually more about people than food. yay!
anyone doing anything fun for the 4th?

07-01-2008, 10:22 AM
Good Morning,

This having a holiday (canada day here today) in the middle of the week is weird and annoying. But I have friday off too so its a short week all the way around. I am just planning to relax today and clean house a bit as I have family visiting my mom this coming weekend and they will stop over here as they haven't seen the house yet.

Things are going ok. Not great but plugging along.

It is humid here this week. I haven't used the AC yet but I think it may get turned on today for at least part of the day anyway. I can handle hot - just not the humid part.

This is short - but I'll check in later....

07-01-2008, 10:36 AM
Morning everyone!

Barbara - I wouldnt say i was alot off plan. What i meant by being off plan as that i wasnt stressing about being perfect, i didnt get all my foods in and i had a couple of things that wasnt on plan but i did not go crazy at all and all my meals were on plan because i still cooked the same but i think i had a bit too much fat free ice cream. I think that was definitely the worst of it which i dont think is too bad if thats the worse.

I always thought i was about 140lbs when i met DH 10yrs ago but thinking about it i think i was bigger because at my prom i wore a size 12 dress amd that was about 9mo after i met DH and now at around 140lbs i'm in 8s and even a 6 on a few things which i'm so happy about. I never thought i would fit into a 6, i still cant believe it. I cant believe it took me 10yrs to make a change, well 8 (1st round) but i'm glad i'm finally doing it and finally doing something for me. :)

Hope everyone is having a good day today.

Morning everyone! Someday you guys are gonna get me motivated to try harder, LOL. I made a batch of rose petal jelly that I can't stay out of!

hey everyone. just a quick check in for right now. hope that everyone has a good day.

Hello everyone,

We just got back yesterday afternoon from our vacation last week. My eating was horrible last week. It was hard to find healthy things to eat at Six Flags, climbing a mountain and the other things we did. Oh well, I am back on track today and I am determined to have a great day.

My DH has an interview this morning and a second interview this afternoon. He even did a telephone interview while we were on vacation. I really hope an offer comes really soon. He has been out of work for all most 6 weeks. I am keeping my faith in God and trying to stay positive. Please keep praying for us.

Jillian- Your new work arrangement sounds great.

Katie- I hope that things work out for your DH and you on the job side. I have never heard of rose petal jelly that sounds interesting.

Debbie- I thought about you this weekend. The hotel we were staying at had three family reunions going on.

Durdansgirl- Good job on the party foods.

Dan- It sounds like you had a great time at your reunion.

Gonnabe- I am sorry I don't have any advice for you on the plans. But, I will say just keep on trying and don't give up. You will make it.

Gotsa- It does sound like that could be fun doing this with coworkers. The accountability would be great for me.

Julie- Looks like you are going to beat me in this challenge. You are doing so good. I think I had a gain from my vacation. However, it is important to note that I am not giving up. Keep up the good work.

To everyone else I missed- I hope you have a great day.

I am off to wash clothes and try to get back into a normal routine.

good morning everyone :)

I am glad to see everyone is working hard this week!

Gonnabe........I just wanted to suggest that if you are going to stop lite you should definitely switch to purple, or maybe even red given the amount of exercise you are doing. Sometimes we stall because our bodies are conserving calories because it thinks it is being deprived. I am not real familia with blue, but I do know they recommend it to people who were previously on purple with lites who work really long hours and such. I am stressing on the purple WITH lites factor here. Lites have way more calories than 100 cal south beach bars, and they have more protein (I think) as well. I am sure someone else will pipe up, but if I were you, I would first try purple or red w/o lites for a few weeks.

Big hellos to everyone else. I am a sick busy mama/grandma this week. I have a terrible cold, and I am trying to get my super sized family ready for a 10 day tour of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Should be fun/interesting :) Anyway.......I need to do so much to prepare to leave my house in the summertime. If we don't water here at least once a day, all of my plants will kick it at this time of the year cuz it gets and stays so hot we have to set up all of the hoses and timers and such........and I have to clean my Suburban........DH has to change the oil and recharge my AC........and the clothing......well, you can imagine.........and food planning......oh, and I have to rob a bank to pay for the gasoline . I am still trying to pencil that one into my schedule today. Wow, what a whiner, huh? has been busy, and I have been qutie naughty. TOM came by on Sunday too..........when it rains, it pours. Blah, blah, blah.......

So, welcome to all the newbies :welcome: You have come to the right place..........the place is just a little slow lately. In the fall, it will pick up like you wouldn't believe. You won't even beable to keep up with the reading. There are a lot of really kind, smart people here who want to help you make this lifestyle change. When you are having a tough time.........come right back here. Even if it is quiet around here, there is a wealth of info from previous posts :)

So, I hope you all have a fine OP day......and Katie.......back off of the jelly, which sounds divine..........and get with the program . Yeah, I did say that.....

Hi Everyone!

My name is Heather and this is my first post. I spent some of my morning reading through some of the old posts and everyone hear is extremely helpful and supportive.

I did LAWL several years ago and it worked great, however, I gained the weight back when I did not follow through very well with the maintenance. As soon as I lost the weight, I went back to my old eating habits and gained it back.

I wanted to start all over again this past winter, however, the COD in my area closed. I found this page today and I am going to try starting all over again on my own. I am going to use one of the juices that you have suggested for the take off as well as the Luna bars instead of the lites.

I don't have any information on the new Free to live program, however, I still have some of my stuff from the original colored programs. When I first started, I was put on the gold plan and then went to the green plan.

Can anyone help me out with the new plan? Which one should I use? Does anyone have a book with the food choices and the serving sizes? :)

Dionne- GL to your DH. Something will come through, I am sure. Have your DH write down everything that he wants in a job, put it on the fridge, and read it often. It really helps to attract that perfect position.

I forgot to report that my DH got a new job. Turns out one of the vinyl wholesalers that he did a lot of business with at his old job were hiring a general manager. They brought him on with a better salary and benefits, which we have not had in quite a while. Any of you who know me very well know that I do not go to the Dr very often, nor do I take my kids. However, it is good to know that we are covered in a emergency, or if we have something that I cannot take care of myself. It just feels so syncronistic that he gets laid off the same week that the other company is looking a manager, and lands a better job.

On the rose petal jelly, it is divine. It is awesome on toast, but I would bet that it would be really amazing on scones with homemade cream cheese. I only made 8 small bottles, and gave a few away. I will probably save the rest for special occasions. We also made a gallon of rose petal wine to have ready for Valentine's Day gifts.

Heather- Welcome!! If I were you I would stick with the colored plans. The numbered ones are great, but I always lost better on the colored ones.

Nicole- The road trip sounds like a lot of fun. Why don't you just keep on going till you get to Montana? You can go through West Yellowstone, and I will meet you in front of Old Faithful!

Hay All!

I hope all of you are having a great day. I am trying hard to stay as pop as possible sine I have a big weekend coming up. Just an update I am stabilizing at the weight that I am at for now. Then if I feel like losing another 10 or so after summer I will take a stab at weightloss again.

Katie- I have a question for you. I have anxiety. Last year around this time it was a lot worse but when we went to valley fair I had a real hard time I was really nervous and it was hard to enjoy my self. So now we are going again and because last year was so tough I am already starting to get nervous. Is there any stones or anything you can think of that helps with anxiety? I need a non medicine remedy. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Anyway enough about that! Ik. HA!

Have an awesome POP day! POP STARS!

Hi everyone - its been so quiet in here lately! Haven't been up to much, but I'm taking a day off tomorrow to take the kids to the water park so that they can have a little fun here before they head off to Colorado with grandma and grandpa, I want them to WANT to come back home! My DH and I were able to get the same week of vacation time off while the kids are gone, but since we had no prior notice that this would be possible, we will be staying close to home and enjoying some of the touristy sites around town. I plan to make a list of all of the things we'd like to do while we are off together - I'm really excited, it's been a long time since we've actually looked forward to spending time together :)

Dionne - glad to see you back - don't worry if I'm beating you now, I have vacation in 1 1/2 weeks, I will probably catch up to you then! Good luck to your DH - mine has a job interview next wednesday for a new job which hopefully will offer less hours so wish us luck as well :)

Good morning everyone! It is so hot here now, that I have to get up early to bake bread because I can't stand the heat of the oven. Weird how we were still having a little snow 4 weeks ago, and now it is in the 90's. We are trying to keep our house cool without the air conditioner for the energy and environmental reasons. Anybody have any great ideas on that?

07-02-2008, 12:19 PM
Nicole - where in Minnesota are you going? Just curiuos.

07-02-2008, 01:11 PM
Hey gang...

Just sitting here with a pain in my teeth.. I have had a problem with receeding gums and they really reared their ugly head last night.. I went to brush my teeth and got quite a painful reaction... So I'm scheduled to see my dentist this afternoon for a desensitization treatment... Grrrrr!!!

I find myself having trouble staying focused on diet lately.. I was really good yesterday and that's great, but I've been jonesing for salty snacks lately.. So far, so good today, but darn if I'm not really wanting to be bad...

07-02-2008, 04:29 PM
Dan, I've had a great deal of difficulty sticking on plan the last few days too. Partially because I've been extra active the last little bit. I need a better plan for days when I exercise a whole lot more than normal. I hope your teeth feel better soon.

Katie, we've had the same basic pattern. Someone finally turned off the cool weather and rain and on the heat.

Cecil, How is stabilization going?

JulieZ, How fun to have some time for just the adults! It is important to spend some time as a couple and not always as just parents.

Ok, back to work for me. good!

Hi Everyone!

I have almost made it through the first day of FF. I am looking forward to Friday. This weekend is going to be tough trying to stay on plan. If I end up weighing the same on Monday as I did this morning then I will be happy.

Dan -- I hope your teeth feel better. I have the same problem and it seems to bother me when I eat chocolate or drink alcohol.

Katie -- We had similar weather in NY a few weeks ago. I tried to keep my windows and shades closed when the sun was beating in as well as run the fans. In the end, we ended up breaking down and putting in the window AC. The humidity combined with the heat is not a fun combination. Stay cool!

Off to get ready for dinner with my BF! Talk to you tomorrow!

07-02-2008, 05:51 PM

Repo, I feel your pain...I'm up early to use the oven here, too. And it's just now July!

Dan, I hope your teeth feel better, but please don't say that desensitization includes a needle...

Cecil, my dh has anxiety problems at times and it was audio tapes that did the trick for him. If you want, I can find out the name of the mfg. He hasn't needed them since he's been weight lifting and running, so I know a good workout helps.

I've been feeling pretty stompy and frustrated since learning my center is closing soon. Went to weigh in and had gained a bit. Need to stop this behavior! So I went for a nice pita instead of mexican food and I'm already happier, not giving in. I do have a lot of social stuff to get through this weekend, so I'm gonna try and hold my own here. I'm sure the broccoli salad I'm bringing to the BBQ Friday will be met with frowns from the crowd!

07-02-2008, 06:10 PM
just checking back in for the day. i haven't been too productive today at all. just layed in bed, read a bunch of magazines that i've neglected for a few months, then i napped. it was lovely. i think i was so productive on monday with my cleaning/organizing and throwing tons of junk/old clothes out that i'm done for the week! ha!
now i've got the kids and we're chillin' and watching a movie. not much else going on today..but just thought i'd get back on here and say hi and see what everyone else has been up to today.

enjoy the evening.

07-02-2008, 07:25 PM
WOW - it sure is quiet around here these days.

I guess I really can't say much - because things are pretty quiet here at my house too - the kids and I are just hanging around he house having a bunch of lazy days. Heck who can afford to go anywhere anymore :(

Anyway - I have been having a good week food wise. Deb's cook book has been a true blessing!!

Katie - Congrats to your DH for finding a job so quickly! Tips on staying cool -- Eating lots of snow cones ;)

Nicole - Have fun on your vacation - when do y'all head out?

Dan - I hope your tooth pain is better!

My brain is failing me now - Hello to any and all that I missed! Have a great evening!

07-03-2008, 11:51 AM
Morning all..

Well, the tooth pain IS better.. Not perfect, but better.. The doctor puts this coating solution on the teeth (NO needles, gotsta!!!) along the gumline and almost instantly, the sensitivity is gone.. Lasts a long time too.. I think he may have missed a small spot though, as I still get a slight twinge on one tooth.. I know.. Complain complain, right?

Nicole - Yes, it's a highschool picture.. Part of the reunion planning included going through hundreds of slides from our high school days, so we could put on a slide show for the class... Lots of great shots.. Too many to include them all, but we scanned probably 1,000 of them if not more... I picked out a few from the show and kept them on my computer.

Poker night tonight with the guys, so I "gotsta" be good today...

Have a great day all!!! Hang in there for the Holiday weekend.. I may not be online until this weekend, so do your best to make good decisions.. Liz and I will be cooking out, but the menu includes turkey burgers and chicken/rosemary brats (very low in fat, but a bit high in salt)...

Morning everyone! I am planning on cleaning out my cupboards today. I have a lot of stuff I never use. I use a web site call free cycle dot net to get rid of stuff I do not use. It is so cool. It is a yahoo group. Most cities have them. After you join, people will post stuff on there that they do not use or need anymore. If it looks like something you need, you email that person and they will help you get it from them. I got a metal shed a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I gave away an oven that we don't need. It keeps things out of the landfills, and helps everyone to get the stuff that they need without spending more money. Anyway, freecycle will definitely get some stuff from me today!

Have a good day everyone!

hello all.

just checking in for the day. i was up early, got a workout and a shower in, so i'm good to go for the day. that makes 3 workouts so far this week. yay me! guess not working is better for me than i thought it would be! ha! :)

hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend. i'm not doing too much really. i work tomorrow for a short time and then i'm spending time with a friend on saturday--we're having a girlie day and i'm going to look for a homecoming outfit for when DH gets back, then we're going to chill at my house and watch movies and i'm making mexican food. so it should be a good time.
other than that, not too much else planned.
ok, i've got other stuff on the agenda today, so i'd better get to it, before i decide to be lazy! :)

Oh Dan, the chicken rosemary brats sound good. I buy sausage from a vendor at our local farmers market that only uses free range meat and no preservatives. Anyways, I used their rosemary sausage last night in lasagne, and it was amazing.

Nicole – I’m in a small German town called New Ulm, located in southern Minnesota, home of Schell's Beer, Hauenstein Beer and now Grain Belt Beer. You can probably guess what we drink a lot of (or what I used to drink a lot of prior to having kids & joining LAWL)! Duluth and the “North Shore” is such a beautiful area. We try to get up there once every two years or so, not as often as I’d like, but it’s such a haul. It takes about 5 hours from where we are at so when we go up “North” we usually only go as far as the Brainerd area, which only takes about 3 1/3 hours. We’re going there over the 4th. DH actually got off a few consecutive days off so we planned a last minute trip. I hope the weather cooperates for your road trip, Minnesota is so unpredictable. You’ll have to fill us in on the sites you take in when you get back. Have a great time!

07-03-2008, 05:46 PM
chicken rosemary brats - where would you find that in the grocery store? sounds yummy! I finally found ground bison (buffalo meat) in the store, I made a burger on a light bun last night and it was really good! couldn't even taste the difference!

Hi everyone!

I have been terrible and gone off plan for the last 5 days. I was camping and went to my SIL's and ate stuffed chicken breasts, ice cream cake and mmm my fav choc pb rice krispy cake .Last night we had our priest over and I totally over ate. I am going to Stampede tomorrow and then over to a friend's for dinner. YIKES.

I have a feeling maintenance will be really INTERESTING for me.

Despite all this the scale is still going down. Maybe because I am still exercising and I am not off plan every day?

I am about 1 lb away from moving down a level. Though I am going on vacation mid July and will be OP until after labour day. They are freezing my plan so as long as I don't gain I'll be fine.
