100 lb. Club - One Month Challenge

View Full Version : One Month Challenge

04-27-2008, 12:09 PM
This is a one month challenge. I decided to start this because it's a month till the summer! I know a lot of us have summer goals. Let's try to ramp this up by making a challenge.

We'll have till May 30th to reach your goals. Hold on, Shannon, a month is really short! How will I reach a goal in a month?!? Pssssh.

In a month, you could:
-Start a new healthy habit(it takes a month to make a habit according to a couple things I read this week)
-Get back on plan
-lose 4 pounds(1 pound a week)
-lose 8 pounds(2 pounds a week)
-start c25k program
-add more exercise into your plan
-add 100 extra steps into your life every week/day
-lose a pants size perhaps
-And much more!

If you are up to the challenge, head the call. Simply reply with your starting stats, goals, pictures and check in on this thread periodically.

I know you can do it! Good luck! :carrot:

*Disclaimer: A month will not grant you 20, 40, 50, 99 pounds of weight loss. Please be healthy and realistic when trying to achieve your goals. This should be fun and safe.*

My starting weight: 218.7
My goal: Get back on plan and to fit into a pair of 16 shorts and fit into a large shirt comfortably
My measurements: (all in inches)
Arm: 13.5
Ribcage: 35
Waist: 39.5
Hips: 51.5
Thigh(at fullest point): 27

I haven't measured myself for months but that's horrible. Last time I checked my ribcage and waist was equal. *dies*

These are the size 16s I got yesterday at Cato's. These were bought just to get me on plan. ^_^ If I make it, this will be the shortest pair of shorts I've owned ever. I just hope that I am comfortable enough with my legs to wear them!

My goals are to
1) drink 48oz of water, Just Water!!! per day
2) loose 8 lbs.
3) get 1200 min exercise total

04-28-2008, 09:43 AM
Hmmmm.... let me see. I think I will add 3 hours on the treadmill a week.

04-28-2008, 11:28 AM
I exercised two times yesterday and stayed within my points. ^_^ Good start.

04-28-2008, 11:32 AM
Great idea !

My goals are:
1) Loose 7lbs

04-28-2008, 11:36 AM
my goals:
2) Keep drinking 128 oz of water a day (a gallon - NO SODA!)
3) Actually exercise. (stop procrastinating!)
4) Lose 8 lbs.
5) Gain the courage to get some measurements..Ugh.

04-28-2008, 01:53 PM
Measurements shouldn't be that hard. Since you're working on it, they will go DOWN down downnnnnnn soon.

04-28-2008, 02:53 PM
I have to lose up to 8 pounds, but more than 4 pounds! I am stuck right now aroung 223-221 and i want to break into the 2 teens!

04-28-2008, 06:51 PM
I want to get out of my rut... i seem to have been stuck for 2 weeks
Goal #1-Lose 5lbs
Goal #2-Instead of wearing my baggy size 19 pants buy the 17's and feel good in them
Goal #3-Exercise 5 times a week... not 4 or 3

04-28-2008, 10:15 PM
I've exercised 2 times today but ate bad. Overall, a good day, I think, considering I started my TOM.

04-29-2008, 09:17 AM
did 45 minutes on the treadmill last night, only 2h and 15 minutes to go yet this week.

04-29-2008, 09:50 AM

04-29-2008, 09:00 PM
I've had a bad day bored/ravenous grazing. :/ But I did exercise again, so that's half the battle!

04-30-2008, 12:52 PM
Okay...I'm in!

My goals are going to be easy ones as I'm just starting out. Don't want to get discouraged before I even get started.

They are:

Lose 5 pounds
Walk w/my family at least 3 times a week
Take the stairs UP at least one time per day at work (no stairs at home)

My starting weight is 252...Haven't done measurements in a LONG time, but I'll try to do it tonight.
That's it for me. I think I can do it!

04-30-2008, 12:53 PM
I did 30 minute Deante Dance and 2 miles of the 4 mile super challenge. I had to stop because my muscles are sooo sore from firming that I couldn't give ALL to the rest of WATP.

*is determined to drink more water to help my poor muscles*

Good luck! Thanks for joining in! You can do it! It's okay to have simple goal(s). One healthy goal or three is better than NOTHING. In one month, you'll be one step to a healthier life.

04-30-2008, 12:58 PM
I hope it's ok if I join! My goal is to be under 200lbs by May 31. Current weight, 210lbs.

04-30-2008, 12:59 PM
The more the merrier! ^_________^

04-30-2008, 02:00 PM
And I just posted May goals in the support forum *bangs head on desk*

May Goals
Lose 4 pounds.
go to the gym no matter what! I'm a member of 2 gyms... I better use them!!
Water water water.
(this is a weird one) I will use the rolling stairs to get the boxes to the top of the steel (at work) instead of being lazy and tossing them up there. I may just burn 10 or 20 extra calories. ( X that by about 14 boxes @_@)

04-30-2008, 04:46 PM
Here are my goals...I might post pics later, I don't know

- Stay on micheal thurmond or some sort of diet plan
- Walk 70 miles
- Drink water
- Take vitamins
- Get into the habit of cooking at home

Good luck everyone!

I like this thread--I've been a member of the Habit-of-the-month plan for a while.
OK 2 goals and 2 habits:
Big goal--when I lose 4 more pounds I will NO LONGER BE OBESE. Sorry I could *not* help shouting that out--I'm as excited about this as I was to see onderland.
Another goal--to wean myself from the convenience of frozen meals (preservatives, cost and landfill issues) and cook things I can take for lunch in reusable containers.
Habit--eat 6 servings of fruits/vegs a day
Harder habit--stop nibbling after supper.
Will update as I can.
Love this forum--very supportive.

I'dike to join your challenge. Maybe this will help me develop some personal accountability.
Lose 4 pounds
Exercise 3 times a week
Drink 48 oz. water each day
No food after supper

05-02-2008, 07:41 AM
Okay, I'm in. I've had a really hard time sticking to an exercise schedule lately, and I need to get back to regular cardio. So my goal is at least 30 minutes of cardio at least 3 times a week. (I know it's not a lot for all of you every day exercisers, but right now, it's what I can handle.)

And I just changed my ticker to reflect this, so now it's all about the follow-through, and the accountability.

05-02-2008, 09:14 AM
I have gotten another hour and 15 minutes done on the treadmill.. so I have an hour to go before tomarrow.

Good luck everyone.

05-02-2008, 09:54 AM
Yesterday was not so good for me. My muscle were still extremely sore. So, I opted on doing a barre workout instead and then, I ate pizza for lunch and snacked all the way before dinner. Today I will be eating good at Applebee's and exercising after work hopefully.

05-04-2008, 12:41 PM
My weight today was 213.1. ^______^ 5 pounds gonnnnneeeee!

Which also makes my ticker correct again. YAYYYYYYY

05-05-2008, 12:14 PM
Ugh...up to 254 this morning. I'm not feeling well, and I don't know why. I'm stiff all over and exhausted. My mom thinks I have fibromyalgia, but I've never been officially diagnosed. I'm having some gastrointestinal issues as well which could account for some of the "gain".

My worst thing right now is I get most of my fluids at home after dinner. Here at work, I've only got water (I refuse to pay $1.35 for a diet soda or anything like that), and I get bored with just plain water. At least at home I have Crystal Light and stuff. So...because I'm drinking 40-60 ounces at and after dinner, I'm up all night in the potty and I feel like crap in the morning.

As far as exercise goes, this weekend was better than most. Moved some furniture on Saturday (rather than sitting on it) and did some cleaning, and yesterday spent the entire afternoon taking my son to a baseball game. We actually were out on the field before the game and then afterward so he could "run the bases" with the other kids, so I got some sun, did a lot of walking...and climbed A LOT of stairs.

Gotta get on track if I'm gonna make my goals!

05-05-2008, 12:27 PM
I'm IN (better late than never!) By May 30th:

* lose 5 lbs., and hit the next weight "decade"
* take lunch to work each day
* take a walk at least two times a week

exercise is not the devil, i keep repeating that LOL

05-05-2008, 11:38 PM
I did my cardio today, which I almost skipped. But I am determined to succesfully complete the goal I set for myself, and develop better habits while doing so.

05-05-2008, 11:53 PM
1)stay on plan 6 1/2 days per week
2)get to the kung-fu studio 3X/week
(I really HATE the circuit training class but it is incredible once it's over)
3)lose 5 lbs... which should happen if i do the first two

wish me luck
you pray for me and i'll pray for you

05-05-2008, 11:59 PM
geez. I still haven't exercised. I've got several days off coming up, and i've resolved not to just lay around playing on the computer. I'm going to do spring cleaning, and if you could see my house....exercise here i come. lol.

I finally broke down and weighed myself. I've lost 14 lbs already (since 4/26).

My goals are -

Walk at least 4 days a week
Do my PT exercises EVERY DAY for my back.
Drink 64 ounces of water
Eat between 1500 and 1750 calories per day
Eat more fruit. I can eat veggies all day, but my fruit is lacking!

05-06-2008, 11:09 AM
The last few days were bad because of someone vandalizing my car and birthday preparations. I'm hoping to hit plan once Wednesday happens and there is no more cupcakes/cakes around

05-10-2008, 02:33 PM
Got a bit off track--I took my daughter and a couple of her friends to the beach and ate like they did--pizza, chips, ice cream sundaes. I don't feel particularly guilty though, just ready to get back in gear. I did have 1 success though, I've never walked to the watertower before (6m rt) and I did it this trip.
