Heh, feel free to laugh all you want but this was my experiment. I only have one pair of exercise pants and those are in the wash. SO I decided to wear a pair of DH's boxer-briefs underneath my jean shorts since I knew I would end up chafing in this heat and humidity. (sucks that DH and I are the same size) They worked! Absolutely no chafing, no rubbing, nothing! LOL I'm going to have to go out and buy some all white ones for me so Dh doesn't run out.
I have several pairs of very short, thin bike shorts that I wear under every dress and skirt I own for the same reason! I also tend to wear them under pants or shorts when they've become too big (I really should just throw those pants out but hello? I am not made of money).
Hee hee! That's genious! On a related note, I just bought this roll on thingy called Glide that is supposed to prevent chafing when exercising. It also supposedly works to prevent shoe blisters. I didn't have a problem with chafing on my walks before, but now that my thighs are shrinking, there's more friction than before. I thought I ought to test out the product before my pants burst into flames... I'll let you know if it works!
Oh, I am a big fan of body glide. On my longer runs, it's a necessity, I apply where my jogging bra ends, and pretty much anywhere else that has the possibility of any rubbing.
hmm i'll have to look for that glide then. I'm having the chafing problems myself and hubby works outside for a living and he's coming home quite chafed from sweating all day. Does anybody know where you can get that? I'm in Dallas,TX.
C.C...you are too funny! Carry a bottle of water with you to douse the flames.
Thursday evening, I was dressed for my cardio/weights video in tight shorts and a tank top. I decided at the last minute to go for a walk, but didn't want to walk in my shorts. So I pulled out another pair of shorts, a pair that gave me a bad 'burn' last year. The tight ones underneath worked like a charm. Too hot to do often, but nice to know I can wear the mean shorts again.
I haven't had a problem with chafing recently, but my boyfriend has. I've passed on this advice and he's going to pick up some boxer-briefs for walking. Thanks so much for sharing this, hopefully it helps him as well!
I have heard that you can use deoderant and it'll help prevent chafing? I don't know, I haven't worn shorts in a while, I like my capris much better these days.
Also, I wish I was my husbands size, he is a size small and even some smalls are too big on him.... I do fit into a couple of his sweat shirts now though and he tried to give me a shirt yesterday that he doesn't wear, he said "I don't think your boobs will fit in it though". I told him it wasn't the boobs that were the problem, its the big tummy
I have an excellent remedy if you have a bit of chafing. A little bit of A&D Ointment and then a little of Johnson & Johnson Cornstarch Baby Powder. Keep using that and the chafing will disappear.
Also, walk and hour a day and your cellulite will disappear. It worked for me. I couldn't believe it. I had such gross, not to be gross, cellulite on my upper legs and its now gone.
I use a product called chamois butter. It's made for biking but works great. You can pick it up at any REI store or your local bike shop. It's done away with chafing completely although I did get a "what the **** are you buying?" from my husband.
Lots of great ideas! I did go out and buy some exercise shorts. I just wish my gut didn't stick out so much so I could wear just them and my tank tops. I have to either wear the shorts under a baggy pair to wear a tank top or wear a huge top that covers my bum to wear just the exercise shorts.
Nelie - DH and I weigh almost the same. We have the same ring (10) and shoe size (10-11 depending on brand)! Til my midsection got so fat *apple shape*, I could wear his pants (cause you know how guys wear their pants under their stomach!) It's kind of funny but not if you know what I mean. But that is why I'm losing weight/exercising.
I love the idea about boxers. I'm going to see if I can get some. I usually just rub baby powder between my thighs before I exercise or whenever I'm wearing a skirt (which is often). It works well but needs to be reapplied after a few hours. I have several mini bottles that I carry around in my gym bag, purse, and back pack. One is in the washroom too. lol
Bouncing - You and me both girl! I only wear board shorts or capris or bike shorts. If they don't come down to right above my knee, they're wadding up in my crotch. UGH!
