Good Monday Morning All!

Had two stress related late night carb loads but dusting myself off for another week of Atkins Induction!:carrot:

SO furious at myself for repeating the same tired cycle of responding to the stress by "hurting" myself! Tx for the coping ideas nasus & lilyb! - lol @ the Teddy Grahams to the Neighbors!:D Most of the time it's not snack or "junk" or sweets being in the house - it's things like Whipped Mashed Potatoes or like last nights cave-in - Toasted Garlic Cheezy Bread with real butter and real soft French Bread . . . feel me?:dizzy:

I'm so angry today that I wish I would have thrown it all in the trash - but that's not viable because I have two DD's who will eat this food - and who do not have overeating problems/proper servings etc.

Just got to get my RESOLVE-ON and keep it ON somehow - maybe I'll start doing sit-ups when I want to throttle everybody?:dizzy:

Have a Great Monday All - hoping you get your groove back on too azure!

Were we talking about Harry Potter here?:?: (Senior Moment?:^:)

I started Book 5 yesterday at the pool - Order of the Phoenix - read the first 4 over vacay and am just addicted now---finally see what all the fuss was about. Very good summer reading and just an addicting story!:)

07-23-2007, 02:45 PM
Hehe...well, Aud--I've just gotta say that HP is awesome. I got super addicted after the 3rd book had been released and I've been snapping up the just-released books as they came out ever since. The final book came out on Friday at Midnight. I bought it Saturday late afternoon and finished it at around 2AM on Sunday. EXCELLENT stuff :D

Oh...and I'm doing really well today :) Scales read 151! So even after a little mini-binge-breakdown last night, it looks like I didn't even put on the glycogen/water weight I had been expecting this morning. *whew*

My goal for the month of July was 150 by July 31st...and I'm only 1lb away! I can totally get that accomplished in a week!

Best to you girls!

07-23-2007, 04:59 PM
WTG azure and tx for posting about your Sweets Attack! Really helped me get some much needed perspective!

I'm off to the grind and already behind (hey that rhymed:dizzy:) on my h2o intake . . . usually am sipping water when I sit down here - better go get my SPLASH on!

07-23-2007, 05:42 PM
I fell too, yesterday. Chocolate. Not the former quantity, but about 75g worth of carbohydrates. Back oon track today. I blame it on insufficient vegetables for about 4 days, only 1 day of eating all my veggies, and there's a lag time before the bingies go away. I know better than this. EAT YOUR VEGETABLES.

Went to the gym, worked 26 minutes on recumbant bicycle. Previous was 20 minutes (Friday), so I'm improving. My feet (arches) were what was hurting! Go figure!

Hi ladies,

I got the bad news today. My son's Army Unit has just been placed on Alert. They are to be deployed within the next 30 days. We were not told where they will be going. It's a toss up between Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq or Syria. Last time they were put on Alert, they were gone within 1 week. I've spent the day putting my son's motorcycle and dirt bike in the paper for sale. He doesn't want me to worry about making the payments while he's gone. I'm now on his checking account, so I can make his Jeep and Insurance payments for him. It is all becoming TOO REAL. I'm having a hard time coping and so is DH and DD.

DD has cried all day and it has just been a very hard, very emotional day. My son is coping fine and although we've been expecting it, it is hitting us VERY hard. I don't think there could be anything scarier than for a parent to know their loved one is going to War.

I plan to become Active in his Unit's Family support group and meetings to see if this can help us cope a little better.

Lily - I'm so sorry. You and your family are in my prayers.

07-23-2007, 09:59 PM
AWW Lillyb. my heart is out to you. I was just talking to a National Guard friend. that my DD2 has spent time with before she transfered to a different unit. he is going to intesnive training later this year. being NG I guess they get more time for preperation some times. I understand most of NY is going to be deployed, her unit has not yet, but this other guys is. leaving in november and will be shiped over there some time early next year.

eating good. was trying to get the munchies but waited them off. I as many of you have caved I do know the feeling. and so little can trigger it.

ANY change in the eating habits are hard. remember that you are trying to change lifetime habits. so ifyou cave and munch the best thing is to say OK I did that. now I will do better. especially if you can catch your self early and wake up. This IS the hardest thing you will do. Stand up and dust off those carb crumbs. send that carb monster packing and invite the woosh fairy to your house. she is very elusive so it is hard to keep on tract. believe me I know. I saw a 214 sat before I left for camp sunday I saw 212 and got so excited. I stayed OP all week passing on all those wonderful munchi sweets, pancakes, frenchtoast, hasbrowns, and and the buns on my hamburgers and hot dogs. I got home and for the last 2 days I see 214. and wonder what did I pass on all that sonderful food. makes me want to jump over and eat my bread, rice and all that other stuff I depreived my self of. BUT I know from last time when I got to this point that the body will stop for a while and hold on the weight and hang there and suddenly it will be gone. The Fairy will pop in and whoosh away a few lbs. And that is how it goes. no matter what I know that to achieve good health I must give up the bad stuff. I must find what is my triggers and stop them. I must find out what is working and keep it. and when I fall (as I know I will) Immediatley pick my self up and do not flagelate my self as It is 47 years of habits, 47 years of eating those foods 47 years of giving into those cravings and eating that way. I can not change overnight, and some times just eating it I find that it did not taste as good as I thought so I will not do it again. it maybe I just needed that. 5 years ago I was a size 12/169 lbs (yes it was brief and yes it was tight) but a size 12 just the same. I blossomed to I think a 26 248 lbs as I lost who I was and did not remember the hard work that I did. I forgot to love my self. I forgot to respect my self. I forgot to remember that I too deserved to be taken care of. Do I remember that all the time now? NO, but I think of all the work that I have done this far and do I want to blow it now??? NO

I think of how hard it is for me to go up the stairs, and how much 10 lbs of meat weighs or a 20 lb turkey. I know that as I really have seen so little change in clothes I am getting discouraged but I do know that like a roll of paper towels or toilet paper if you have a single roll it shrinks so much faster the double rolls go slower and do not look like they are shrinking and same more so with the triple and 4x rolls. I am not going to see a big change in size but i will see my cheeks starting to be a bit thinner. i will see my fat becoming softer. (cells are starting to not be so stuffed like a defalting baloon it is getting soft) I keep remembering that, and that helps me keep on tract or get back OP.

I do hope that my thoughts and what I do can Help others because I do know the pain. I do know how hard it is. i am right there I have tried and retried to lose this weight. i have been retrying to lose this weight for 4 years since i gained it back. and kept falling to gain all of it back and more. I am at the weight I was 4 years ago when I realized I was going up. I could not stop my self and kept on gong up. But I am incontrol (sort of) now. I have no intention of ever getting there again. (I have said that before)

07-23-2007, 10:41 PM
Oh Lily  Everyone will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, a cancellation will come in, or a delay.

07-23-2007, 11:07 PM
Lily-- Thinking about you and your fam. I'm sorry to hear that your family is going through it.

07-24-2007, 02:25 AM
So sorry about your son Lilly.

07-24-2007, 06:23 AM
all I can say is wow, nasus. Just wow.

I've gotten a LOT of inspiration and motivation from this site in the past - but gotta say that your heartfelt post was speaking directly to me about things I haven't said as well like no other I've read.:thanks::hug: (Don't hurt that I dropped another 2lbs despite the cheezy galic bread taco pie binge!;) Gotta LOVE Atkins!:))

Thoughts are with lilyb & family this night and in the coming times - praying this war ends soon girl!

07-24-2007, 11:16 AM
Thanks ladies for the support and heart felt words. I called my sister last night to tell her about my son. She had just gotten bad news also. Her daughter's husband is now on Alert to be sent to Iraq and will also be leaving very quickly. This will be his second tour of duty over there. They have a 2 yr. old and my niece is pregnant. It actually made me glad that my Shane isn't married and won't be leaving any kids behind while he goes to war.

I'm gonna need to be really strong this year. Keep on my eating plan and get my exercise. I can't let myself give into emotional eating and gain this wt. back.

07-24-2007, 02:29 PM
We'll be strong with you this year, lilyb! If you join the Troop Support thing, let me know if they make up Packages or anything . . . we've done this at Our Church and also where I Work - making up these Care Pkg's for our soldiers . . . they give us a Wish List and also items that canNOT be sent . . . They say the soldiers love them - but they couldn't love them as much as we love putting them together!:)

Have been meaning to tell bouncing how inspirational your exercise has been for me. One of my Sis's swears by the recumbent bike - she even bought a real one for the road and has a stationary one in front of the tv! Glad you're dusting off those chocolate crumbs! Was surprised that my cave-in (which also was not what formerlly would be considered a cave-in would consist of either) still allowed me to lose 2 MORE LBS!:carrot: I did swim my buttocks off and also took that long walk - so guess I'm deeply into being a ketosis induction weight lifting water pounding FAT BURNING MACHINE!

yeppers . . . that's how I'm calling it!

Good to see ms.spotdog! Long time no . . . blah blah . . . you get the idea LOL!:D How are you?

Thought I saw Arkansas Kel when I first got "back" - miss her funny posts . . .

Off to do some major cooking and semi-major housework - Have a Terrific Tuesday Low Carbers!:carrot:

07-24-2007, 02:43 PM
Hey guys!! I know I jumped into the boards last week but I was not sure if I should low carb or not. Well, I know its a mixture of entering phase two of south beach and having my TOM but I am up 2 pounds and I just don't feel that good about myself.

So, I started atkins today. I slept in because I had a crazy night last night so I did not breakfast. I just ate a can of light chunk tuna with kraft light mayo (1 tbs) and 1 cup of spinach. I hope I can do this right and eat enough fats to burn up all this weight.

My snack today is cucumber, carrot, and hummus. This takes up a lot of my daily carbs- (11 net carbs to be exact). Are these three foods ok to eat? Its half a serving of baby carrots, 1 cup cucumber, andn 2 tbs hummus. Its the hummus I am not sure about. I just wanted to check on that!

Oh, also is it required to use those ketosis sticks?

Oops a couple more questions! I read on the atkins diet site that you can have low carb bread on induction- do any of you actually do that? What percentages do you hit on an average day? Protein, fat, carbs? And finally- do you eat dannon low carb yogurT?

07-24-2007, 03:10 PM
Aud, 2lbs is awesome Woo Hoooo! Keep it up.

Rocknroll, Hi. I'm sure the 2lbs is just water due to TOM.
Have you read the atkins book? I'm not sure what the website is like but acording to the book you shouldnt have the lc bread, carrots or hummus for the first two weeks. However a lot of people dont follow the plan that strictly and still have lots of success. I personaly dont think the small servings of raw carrots or hummus would be bad, but I would avoid the lc breads and bars etc.. I eat LC yogurt and I know lots of the others do too.
As for the sticks I'v never even tried them.
I dont pay any attention to my pecentages, I just stick to 20-30 grams net carbs. Good luck!

07-24-2007, 03:15 PM
Thanks! I could cut down my hummus to 1 tbs to save carbs :)

The website says that some people choose to add bread and it also has a Wasa High Fiber cracker on the first day of an induction menu. I thought that was a little fishy so I had to check!

I will have to buy some slow carb yogurt because the only kind I have right now is dannon light and fit!

Thanks again- I am off to the gym

Well, I think only you can know if you can stick to an Atkins way of doing Low Carb. Personally, I'm SO glad I decided to do it--and three weeks in, I'm feeling fantastic (dropping 13lbs in 3 weeks kinda helped, too ;) ).

I'm not sure about the hummus, but I know carrots are really a no-no on Induction (Phase I) of Atkins. I would check the list given in the book--and go by what the "acceptable" foods list says, sticking to the recommended quantities for veggie servings.

As far as having Low Carb Atkins Bread, or any of those Atkins bars/shakes, I would suggest staying away from them. They're loaded with "hidden" sugar alcohols from what I read (in the form of glycerin)--and Atkins himself has a whole chapter in his book dedicated to the dangers of sugar alcohols and how they can inhibit weight loss progress.

I would say, stick to Atkins by-the-book for induction, and then if you feel you need the yogurt or a slice of LC bread during the OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss) phase, then treat yourself--but figure them into the daily carb count. There are others who are more experienced than I am on this board, so I'm sure they'll chime in, too--that's just my opinion.

Also, don't be afraid of fat! Fat/Protein fill us up and keep us satisfied for longer...if you're ever feeling hungry, you're not doing what Dr. Atkins suggested to do! Eat when you're hungry, until you're satisfied--and eat delicious full-fat foods. You can have the butter, the olive oil and red meat if you want it--you can have the full-fat cheese! It's not about deprivation on Atkins...I know after trying a "low calorie, high carb" approach for about a year, I was SO afraid of eating full-fat foods. But don't worry about them--they make you full and you won't eat as much as a result.

Did I just ramble a little? I'm sorry :) I wish you luck on Atkins--and I'm sure the other ladies will chime in shortly!

07-24-2007, 03:29 PM
Just looked at your CW & Goal, r&r-WOW! Bet you'll be to Goal in no time on Atkins!:carrot: Just like puncez said - lots of different people have had lots of different types of success tweaking the Atkins system to fit their lives and habits. I think lilyb even incorporated fruit at times.

Here's my take and what I would do if I were at your weight:

Follow Induction closely - which for me means lower than 20 TOTAL carb grams per day.

I get into major trouble if I start eating LC Breads and "Energy Bars" - LC candies etc. Major stall and I'm convinced full of hidden carbs and not so hidden chemicals. Think whole unprocessed yummy food.

This will put you into ketosis - I've never done the sticks but judge by my dry mouth.

Drink tons of water. Or gallons.;)

The whole "net" carb thing is something for me to figure out after I get to goal - any time I've tried to incorporate in OGWL = disaster. TOTAL carb count - with those coming from yummy veggies is the route to take, I say!

Bring on the buttered veggies!!!:carrot:

Speaking of Dancing Carrots - I agree that I'd skip the carrots (and corn and peas) unless nothing else is available. Hummus and any other beans are for later on as well- (but a better choice than the cheeezygarlicbreadtacopie I chose at 4:30am the other nite!LOL!:o)

ETA: Hi azure! I'm sure you will be at goal in no time too, as well! Congrats in advance! Not sure if all areas have Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom Yogurts (formerly Carb Freedom, I think) - they are creamy delish and have 3-5 carbs TOTAL. Also would add to read labelslabelslabels for TOTALtotaltotal carbs per serving.

07-24-2007, 04:56 PM
AUD- yay! I'm glad your on this board!! The Chicks in Control topic can be a little emotional at times so I am looking forward to getting to know you keeping all of our 'issues' aside!

Thanks for all the responses everyone- I am eating my snack which has been changed from carrots and hummus to cucumbers and laughing cow cheese:)

Do you really think I will hit my goal fast on Atkins? Because that would be wonderful!! Mini goal or big picture goal?

-wow, I have been eating my cucumbers and laughing cow as I typed this and it is FANTASTIC! I mean really, its better than hummus!
I had a feeling the bread was a big no no but its so hard to tell these days! I am still going to buy a low carb yogurt just because I love yogurt and I need some sort of dairy (i have calcium pills but they are massive!)

My workout was 45 minutes on the elliptical and 120 calories on the stair stepper. But, I forgot that I promised my brother that i would play tennis with him at 4:45 so I looked it up and 60 minutes of casual tennis burns over 500 calories- boy I am going to be dead!

Done rambling ;)

Hey, Aud! Nice to see you back! Yeah, I'm still lurking around here - you'd think I have an addictive personality or something, huh? (Shut up)

No much new - hot summer here so I've been doing a bit of swimming pool exercise as often as I can (or when I can sneak it in inbetween the hords of teenagers that have set up camp here!). Superman is still super. (almost a year now!) Daughter is senior at art college, middle child (son) a freshman at our local university (mechanical engineering - where the heck did HE come from?), and youngest (son) is a senior in high school. Everyone please cross, fingers, toes, eyes, etc. and say a little prayer that he will get passing grades this year and be able to walk the graduation stage with the rest of his class. SH is still SH and has now sufficently pissed off the boys so they haven't been seeing him lately (can't blame any of it on me but of course he is)

But, yeah, I still read here like I have for many years. I have kept many LC eating habits but sugar carbs are my downfall. I just need to cut them cold turkey! Yes! That is what I NEED to do! HA

07-25-2007, 10:12 AM
Ms. Spotdog, good to see you posting. I'm glad your Superman is still working great. I now have my 15 yr. old SD living with us. Her and my DD will be sophomores in high school this yr. They get along great usually 75% of the time. It's that other 25% when I could swear they are completely Evil. LOL. Ill keep my fingers and toes crossed for your son. Been there done that with my son. Now he kicks himself in the butt for not trying harder. He has really done great and sailed through promotions in the Army, but I got a lot of gray hairs seeing him through high school. He was the little jokester/prankster that was dang cute and just never gave out the effort that he should have.

Aud, I did incorporate a lot of fruit from the very beginning on Atkins. It didn't seem to hurt me and it did take care of my craving for sweets. I didn't use much bananas or apples (just thought that would be cheating, LOL) but ate tons of watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries and fresh pineapple. But, I was really strict about leaving alone the potaoes, rice, pasta, bread, sugar, flour and salt so it all balanced out. Actually the SF candies (full of sugar alcohols) caused more problems for me than the fruit did. Also, would stall with the dang breakfast bars and shakes. If I ever have a need to lose weight again, I'd do it the same way as I did this time. It worked.

Azure, WTG on the 13 lbs. that is awesome.

07-25-2007, 11:14 AM
The website says that some people choose to add bread and it also has a Wasa High Fiber cracker on the first day of an induction menu. I thought that was a little fishy so I had to check!

I will have to buy some slow carb yogurt because the only kind I have right now is dannon light and fit!

Unfortunately, that website has changed SO much since Dr. Atkins death:( There are many contradictions....the main one being the rules of Induction tell you to eat ABSOLUTELY NO BREAD....then you go to the Induction sample menu's and they tell you its perfectly ok to eat low carb bread & wasa crackers, tortilla's & waffles!!! Eating Atkins bars & drinking Atkins shakes are both also advocated as well. But...think about it, the bars lure a lot of people in by stating 2 or 3 net carbs on the front wrapper & 0 grams of sugar alcohols. Have you ever tried to figure out how they conclude 2 or 3 net carbs?? Its total carbs minus fiber....AND....they deduct glycerin....which IS a sugar alcohol!!! Very misleading, especially for newbies to Atkins. Just Atkins Nutritionals way of making $$$!!

As for yogurt, I incorporated it when I began OWL. I eat it everyday for breakfast....Dannon Light & Fit low carb/low sugar. As an occasional treat, I have Fage Greek yogurt....which, if you've never tried greek yogurt, is to die for!!! I mix it with a little DaVinci's syrup a few blueberries and a sprinkle of toasted, ground almonds. Pure heaven!!!

All the best to you!!!

07-25-2007, 11:46 AM
I lost 1.6 pounds on my first day :carrot:

I accidently let it slip to my mom that I was counting carbs and she got a little angry at me because she thinks its healthy. i told her 'No Mom its not atkins, I eat a ton of vegetables' She let out a giant sigh of relief.

i guess people don't realize how healthy you can be on it? I don't eat red meat but it works for me so far!

So, for breakfast I had .5 a cup of egg beaters and 2 slices of turkey bacon- tasty!

Kim- Thanks for the input, Congrats on your weight loss you did an amazing job! No bread for me! Umm no bars either because those just seem fishy!

07-25-2007, 04:52 PM
So glad you're still reading along ms.sdog and plz know that I've got my eyes and complete body crossed for your Baby as a Senior in HS!:dizzy: Kndi of hrda to Psto this wya!

*Uncrossing eyes*

HURRAH for a year of SuperMan! Bring ON the Dancing Carrot!:carrot: Just saw my 32 yr old CA neph - who originally was on an athletic scholarship/engineer and who broke My Big Sis's heart a few years back switchin' to Art Major - HE'S DOING FABOO! Commercial Success and Oh So Talented. Will dig up his website sometime - just amazing so Right On Right On for ms.spDDArtMajor!:)

okokok . . . too much babbling . . . lilyb, I just love when you Post hints about your success - have never tried Fruit in the beginning stages of Atkins and must remember to try it next time the late-nights get me in their evil grasp!

R&R - love your "Atkins IS Healthy" siggie by your avatar (Is that your stomach or back???:?: - whichever looks FIT!:)) - and yes, getting to Total goal will be very attainable for both you and azure from where I'm looking here at 238 PoundARonies!:D

ITA that its a dayum shame what "they've" done to Atkins since his death - jerseygyrl!:( If ONE more person tells me the Dr. died from a heart attack and/or stroke . . . well let's just say, it won't be pretty!

QuickNote: I was under the care of a cardiologist who was adamantly AGAINST Atkins about 5 yrs ago - and I admit, I wasn't on a Healthy Veggie Groove at the time - mainly living on bacon eggs and barb-q and beer . . . anyhoo - he monitored me/blood work the entire time - became a believer and went on it HIMSELF after watching my Total Cholesterol go from something like 237 to 177 in 4 months! My "BAD" plummeted along with the triglycerides - and my "GOOD" skyrocketed!!! This time around I'm on a more "balanced" approach with emphasis on fish/chicken/veggies - age and menopause being a factor for me - also concentrating on EXERCISE and WATER this time around - but comforted by the knowledge that I CAN succeed doing it "wrong" or right. LOL!

Would NEVER succeed if I followed the current "advice" on the Atkins Website.:(

07-25-2007, 05:19 PM
Aud- Thanks, its my tummy! I took a photo to show off my tattoo to some friends and it cuts off right by the belly button! I can't wait to hit my total goal, it will feel wonderful and I will be able to wear ALL of the clothes I own! (my 2's and 4's are gathering up dust!)

congrats on your blood work! Thats really amazing :)

Well, I just got back from my workout and I was a little afraid to go because I have been dizzy all day BUT I created an energy-ish drink. I took 32 oz of water, put it in a water bottle, mixed in a Crystal Light Strawberry Energy packet and a Crystal Light with Potassium packet, and drank! I am no longer dizzy and I have so much more energy! I read on an atkins forum where some people drink crystal light and others dont... I figure its good and I have 500 boxes in my pantry that should not go to waste (more like 30 boxes... I stock up on buy one get one weeks :p)

and because i love him, the dancing carrot: :carrot:

07-26-2007, 04:35 PM
Happy Thursday All! (I was just crushed to find out its Thursday after happily thinking it was Friday all morning!:o)

Still OP (had the Snack of Champions @ 4am this morning: Cauli-Mash!!!:carrot:)

Hope everyone is doing good - ttyal!:D

07-26-2007, 05:48 PM
They have crystal lite w/potassium and energy. Are they sweetened with splenda?

Hi, I'm having a lot more cravings today as its TOM, tempted to eat a bunch of crap and crawl back into bed. I havent been sleeping well lately and I dont know why, the more tired I am the more I want to eat junk. I'm going to my parents again on August 5th for two weeks so I am realy hoping to be well under 190 before then, they eat so much crap it's very hard to stay OP when I'm there. After that I have to go to see the inlaws for a week, they are having a huge 40th aniversary party and ther will be lots of their relatives I havent met yet (I am not looking forward to this) so maybee I'm a little stressed.

I hope everyone's having a great day!

07-26-2007, 06:17 PM
they are sweetened with aspartame... it doesnt effect me at all but I know everyone is different

07-26-2007, 06:56 PM
sitting here feeling slightly well actually very distressed as my scale has not moved in 2 weeks and I have been purple on the dip stick scale. But I know what I tell every one else the whoosh will come I just wish it would get here soon. I am getting discouraged fast. I will say that my hips are looking smaller, (clothes are slightly looser but when you are my size looser is significant.)

Spotted dog hey wishes and prayers sent your way. and please send them back for my son for the next 4 years, I do not think that the boy will finish 2 of them. I must have missed the superman thing???? :?:

Pun I have the energy and was drinking them regularly this vacation, sweetened with aspertame. sorry maybe that is the reason I stalled. though that had never stalled me before.

AUD great with the mash cali for snack. I need to make tham but never have enough left over to even mash!!!

07-26-2007, 09:26 PM
I just realized I have three weeks until August 16th, aka my big senior photo shoot. So 21 days... if I count the two days before that would be 23 days- is that too long to stay on induction?

I want to be a light as I can! I also have a physical for cross country that week so the doctor will be weighing me...

Just checking to see if 3 weeks is too long!

07-27-2007, 04:47 PM
You doing a great job punceZ on recognizing the things that could be bothering you and posting on how to solve/identify them! That's the best thing about 3fc - it's like journalling or something - only with others jumping on in and helping, ya know? I'm always amazed when I write about something going on with me here and as I type - whatever the deal is (work stress/hub stress/aspartame/sugar alcohols WhatEVAH) and the answers become so obvious OR I'll be really stumped and some 3fc sistahs will point something out. Tx chicks!

I don't think there's a problem with staying on Induction if you're taking your vitamins/water etc. R&R. Not sure though.

Eating literally what I posted for yesterday - saved it all up in my lil office fridge. (Went OFFplan at a Going Away Party last nite but determined to shake it off and Mooooove On, Auddie!:carrot:)

Hey guys!
I am new to the Atkins boards, but not new to 3FC :) I gained some weight when I started traveling for work about 9 months ago (not too much, just a couple of pounds), but I really want to get to my original goal weight of 138. It was too hard for me to stick to calorie counting when I go out to eat for every meal...and I always ended up feeling bloated and yucky. I read the Atkins book and started the diet and made it through the first two weeks..but it was too hard to deny myself stuff I love (apples, salad, etc.) I remember feeling so good though, even though I definitely craved carbohydrates. I decided to start again but allow myself a few more carbs (a little bit of fruit, some high fiber cereal here and there) and know that I won't loose as much weight right away. If anyone does a similar type of modified Atkins, I would love to hear your advice!! Thanks :)

Thanks Aud, I did try to get out of the inlaw thing to save myself some stress, but it looks like I'll just have to suck it up.

RR, I think you should be fine on induction for three weeks, I was on for longer than that in the beginning and I felt fine.

Michelle, Welcome. I personaly believe that cutting out the simple carbs and prosesed foods is the most important. You should still lose with the fruit and the whole grains, it may just take a little longer. lots of people modify it to some degree so it suits them. Good luck losing those last few, You have done so well already!

RR, I did induction for about 5 months.....only side effect was weightloss :D

5 months?? Wow! Thats some serious will power! I love berries way too much for that :p

I am .4 pounds lighter than yesterday so that means 4 days on atkins and 5 lbs dropped. I am so surprised at this! I figured I would lose 5 the first two weeks if I was lucky *knocks on wood just in case*

I am .4 pounds away from the big 20 lbs lost!

IA that Atkins can be tweaked lots of ways to suit many tastes and lifestyles. Just got to decide what you want and how fast you want to get there. The emphasis, I think, is to eat the meats we evolved gnawing on and the vegetables we scarfed on when they were in season. Anything that became processed in the late 1800's - dawn of the 20th century are things that our bodies weren't programmed to metabolize. (Milled flour and cane sugar--read the labels!LOL!;)) Maybe a few million years from now the human body will breeze thru Kraft Macaroni 'n Cheese (It's the CHEESIEST!;)) - but, sadly, not at this time.

I'm off for a Super Saturday - full of energy - but trying to remember to Water Up on days off - ttyal!:carrot:

I ate Dannon low carb yogurt yesterday night and it was SOO good!!

I step on the scale this morning and I 'gained' .4 pounds.

No yogurt today and then I will see what the scale says tomorrow. It was really good but I really want to hit my goal and can't be stalled!

today is day 6- it went by so fast!

R & R you should not "sweat" the gain that could easily be a glass of water. 1 gal of water is 7 lbs so a glass is about that. so if you had a bit of fluid do not worry. when you should worry is when you see no loss if a week or two A(like me!!!) then you need to regroup and see what you are eating. which is my plan today.

So you don't think the 3 carb yogurt put me off? I am just trying to pay attention to my body and see what works and what doesnt. I must admit I am a bit 'backed' up right now so I am not worried too much about the gain. I think I know what it is haha

RocknRoll, when I'm "backed up", I can easily go up 3 or 4 lbs.

Ok ladies, my lab. pup has again outsmarted me. I told you all of the very hard work we've done digging a trench and putting a concrete wall all the way around our fence to keep this puppy in the yard. She still kept getting out and I couldn't figure how. She's not big enough to jump the fence and I don't see anywhere she's dug under the concrete wall, (It's a foot deep). Well, I'm on to her now. LOL, I looked outside and saw where we had left a ladder against the fence when we climbing over to dig the trench. I caught her redhanded running up the ladder and jumping over. DUH. I moved the ladder. Now I'll see what the little houdini thinks of next.

Lily, that's a SMART dog! As in scary smart. When she grows up, look out! Observant dogs open doors and gates and refrigerators.
