LA Weight Loss - LA weight Loss Name Change

Has LA Weight Loss had a name change. I have seen ads for Family Weight Loss.....not seeing LA Weight Loss ads anymore....

Someone else mentioned that a few threads back. But I haven't seen it in my area yet. I forgot to ask them last week, but when I go to the COD today I'm gonna bring it up.

I asked my COD today, and they hadn't heard anything about it. It could be one of those corporate vs. franchise things, or maybe it's because we're in Canada and never know what's going on :p

In any case, it seems like every COD does something a little differently, so it looks like we'll just have to wait and see what the changes are ahead!

My COD knew nothing and I mentioned it to the district manager. Infact he said he was gonna check out this site!

How very odd. I wonder just how widespread this is going to be. Seems to only be in the US right now, in any case...

For what it's worth, I went to the website and typed in "find a location near you" and MY center & their phone number came up. Interesting....

And that's definitely my favourite LAWL mac and cheese recipe in the corner there!

uh oh - neither one of the centers I go to comes up in the search. I hope that's not a bad omen.

I wonder, post-name change, if we'll get a different franchise here in ABQ to replace our shutterd COD's... Oh well.. If we do get the full refund, we'll be Disney bound!!!

WOOHOO - I called the COD and not only are they staying but she said they might not be listed because they are moving soon. They will be moving MUCH closer to my house so maybe I can get there more than once a week.

Dan you're right about the worrying. I have been so stressed this month and it shows. A new month is starting and a new worry free, on plan resolve is setting in (crossing fingers, knocking on wood, kicking the cat 3 times and spinning) Don't ask me about the third one, doesn't really do anything but I do enjoy kicking the cat every now and again just for grins.

Would never kick a dog. They are perfect little friends, well except pit bulls but I wouldn't kick them either cuz they'd de-limb me.

My Center briefly went out of business and has been in transition for about 6 weeks. It has been really difficult, very abbreviated hours, never the same counselor, different story every week. Today they had a "PURE WEIGHT LOSS GRAND OPENING" sign. Another new person at the desk. She is not sure what they are going to do with the LAWL customers! I am hanging in there, this board helps tremendously. I think all of the Central Florida Centers are going to be this name, but I am not sure. According to one of the many people I saw Pure Weight Loss and LAWL are running my center as a corporate franchise. The 2 companies are related somehow. I think LAWL is trying to move away from the name because of bad press.

Yes, LA Weight Loss has changed it's name to Family weight loss. We feel the need to reach out to families with child obesity being a big thing, we want it to be considered a family environment. In other states it's still La Weight loss, the only ones who have changed their name is the ones in Washington State, and we have different programs, which are more affordable then they used to be!

My lawl center in FL just officially reopened officially as a Pure Weight Loss center. According to the center manager all East Coast LAWL centers that are corporate will be PWL. It is "a sister corporation" to LAWL.

It was discouraging for me to walk into with all new people, carpet, decorations, etc. and have them kind of scrambling to figure out what to do with me - a former LAWL customer at that center. I really miss my old counselors who probably quit when LAWL was going our of business 2 months ago. I am grateful that they reopened as PWL rather than losing the center completely.

Program seems very similar. A little more concerned about the medical side. Took my blood pressure, asked about my last BM.:o

I am sticking with this not letting new counselors get me discouraged. I have lost 40 lbs since Dec 1, 2006. About 60 more to go.

I've been meaning to post something about this...I subscribe to the laathome website, and they have this in fine print on the log-in page...

Hmmm... It gets me wondering if this new name will somehow end up here in NM, to replace all the COD's that closed here...

Are they completely honoring your old contract?

That sucks about all the old counselors leaving, but maybe you and some of the other old LAWL clients can whip them up to speed!

I mentioned it to the counsellor that I like at my COD and he actually looked into it. This is what he told me in a nut shell. For instance in Florida, several CODs were sold by corporate LAWL to a franchise. The franchise basically ran them into the ground so badly that corporate decided to buy them back but change the name to Family Weight Loss until they could get them back on track and, I guess, earn back the LAWL name.

I live in south florida and joined LAWL Monday. It is named LAWL. Monday I got right in. Tuesday there were several people waiting and the were saying that both the girls working there were new. I gained 2 lbs. This is my first diet, but I plan on sticking to it. :?:

Well welcome to LAWL and welcome to 3FC!! If you have any questions fell free to ask them here. I'm pretty new, too. And if your COD (center of doom) is LAWL then it's probably a corporate center and that's probably a good thing. All I can say is keep your eye on the prize and you'll do fine! And it doesn't hurt to remember how much you paid either!!l :dizzy:

Nanny - I'm in S. FL too. What COD do you go to? Feel free to ask any of us any questions you have. It can be a little tricky at first, but you'll soon get the hang of it!

Apparently this franchise owner had 7 franchises in Central FL. I know mine is now Pure I assume the other 6 are. So far they are honoring my contract. I think there is no way they will give me a refund when that time comes. To be honest, I am not that concerned, when I make goal and maintain that will be worth all the money in the world to me.
