Good Morning, All...

I thought yesterday was Friday, so I had a rude awakening today! I need to get ready to roll...

I looked up the recipe for the Fat Stripping Frappa:

http://myblendtec.blogspot.com/2013/...ng-frappa.html

Looks interesting! The powder is protein powder, near as I can tell.

Nothing to report here. Yes, I'm 90% well... just tired now. The cough finally seems to be gone, and I'm not hawking up any more crud from my lungs. I do hope this lasts!!

Everyone, have a good weekend. Later, lovelies!

We just got home from the gym and a quick trip to Home Depot. Our pipes are old and the original install was a really crappy one. They actually used masking tape to hold it together! Plus after dh got the garbage disposal installed and turned on the water, a pipe broke so he is replacing it today. The house is almost 50 years old so guess it is to be expected.

Today at the gym we went to my old senior circuit training class. I had only been there once since dh broke his hip and if you do it aggressively as I do, it is a good workout...as you get stretching, aerobics and light weights. What I normally do has made me stronger than I was before but I still worked up a sweat and was breathing kinda heavy toward the end. Dh had a hard time keeping up (and he is still pretty strong), and I know he needs the stretch and the different type of movement. He never used to like the class but he agreed today he needs it and we will probably do it once a week. With this class and tai chi plus three days of walking and weight machines it should be really good for him. I feel the need for the stretching so I'll get some of that but I'd really like to go to the early 8:30 stretch class too because it's floor work, but it's hard for me to get up in time.

Karen31/Donna - Yes the powder mentioned in the recipe is whey protein although you could probably use soy if you preferred. Not sure the difference in calories/carbs though. You use almond milk to keep it a high protein drink with little carbs. This makes it what they call a protein pull and helps you lose fat. They recommend if you are using it as part of a meal which contains another protein, only make 1/2 serv. The authors use Swanson Premium Whey Protein which you can buy at the swanson vitamin site, but so far I have used some I buy locally. Mine contains 20 g protein in one scoop and is unsweetened. It actually tastes pretty good...the kind I've used in the past didn't taste nearly so good! I have an order out for some Swanson products though and hopefully will get the protein powder. They said some things may not be shipped to my area and it was one, so will see. I don't have a fancy blender like Blendtec (don't think the authors do either), but it still works fine. If I use more ice, I stop and stir it a bit and then start again. The author recommends 22 ice cubes if you have an icemaker but I like to use a little less. I like it better and it blends better too.

Cajun - You are doing so well but still I agree with Karen31, enjoy at least a small slice of your birthday cake. Happy birthday!! I hope you have a great day!

Hi Mary,
I ABSOLUTELY agree. I think that restaurants infuse their meals with salt, sugar, and butter!

Hi Bobbi,
I swear I thought I already responded to this. However, seeing is believing & I do not see a response, so –
CONGRATULATIONS on your new home! Thank you for the good advice.

Hi Cajun,
I suspect that it does come from the Native Americans, but I am not really familiar with the history. Here, it seems like just a good excuse for music and dance.

Lynn...have seen drum circles on tv. Have you had Grouper? Almond Grouper is food porn!
Hi Karen3,
So glad to hear that your knees are painfree!
I have had Grouper, shrimp, lobster, and tuna. Have not found any almond grouper, but will try it if I see it.

Hi Rosey,
This is exactly what I was doing – staying the same weight, but NOT eating healthy foods. I think I have actually done better down here. Hopefully this will carry over when I get home.

Hi Donna,
I do this all the time. Ever since I retired, I never know what day it is.

Hi Mary,
When I get back home (next week), I need to get back to the gym & change my routine. Doing the same exercise regimen all the time doesn’t really work to lose weight. I have gotten into a rut & need to join one or two of the classes.

Hi Everyone,

Today was the first morning I actually got into the Gulf to swim. The water was just so clear, and calm, and warm, I could not resist.

Looks like we will leave for home on Monday. Although I like the mornings here, I will be glad to escape the heat and humidity of the afternoons.

Lynn

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAJUN.... I HOPE IT WAS A GOOD ONE!!!

Had a good day at work, but I'm GLAD it's really Friday! These old bones need REST, dontcha know?

Dee - you mentioned you're a BBC type, too... the one I'm recommending this week is "Kingdom". I recommended it to KarenFL, and I think she's enjoying it, too. I LOVED it!

The tum is very hungry, so I think I'd better go feed it. Everyone, have a good weekend!

I posted a couple of pictures after we gutted the kitchen, doesn't show much. The other pictures is dining room and family room. We're putting carpet in the family room, new ceiling and decided to keep the dark wood. The dining room will be painted in a couple of days, we have a guy coming in to refinish the hardwood floors. He liked all the floors, said they will be beautiful. The kitchen cabinets were delivered today, will post pictures when they are up. Soooooo much to do.

Sorry, you're asking for pictures, I did get two coats of painting on the walls in the basement but not interesting enough to show. I have my computer room painted but the new windows aren't in yet plus no furniture/floors not refinished yet. I'm going to wait until we're moved in and everything is put together before I take any more pictures.

Good Morning!

Absolutely GLORIOUS here today! Gorgeous...

Bobbi - thanks for the pics. What caught my eye was the way cool arch I saw... I love those! And it looks like the floors are in really good shape; they'll be lovely! You've whetted my appetite... I'm looking forward to more, more, more updates!

I'm so excited! I thought this weekend was two (ugh! TWO) graduation parties, but, eureka!, it's NEXT weekend! I am so glad! Social butterfly isn't descriptive of me, anymore...

Nothing much on the agenda. I hope you all have a good weekend! Later, lovelies!

We planned to sleep in today but with the sun shining in we couldn't sleep any later than usual...which is not actually very early so probably just as well. I hope to get to the nail place and get a manicure today. Otherwise no plans except the usual.

Donna, I'm so glad that you are finally having nice weather. BTW, I'm no social butterfly either! What is Kingdom about? I have over 1600 books on my Kindle and iPad plus a closet full of regular books still to read but I keep checking out more. Still haven't gotten to the one Karen3 recommended. Right now I'm reading Red Roosters which is very interesting as it is about a young woman living in the time of Hitler. I'm actually reading three fiction books and dip into others (non-fiction) now and then.

Bobbi - Looks like the house has great potential but you have a lot of work to do. Better you than me, I wouldn't know where to start even. I too can't wait to see more pictures.

Talk later,
Mary

hey Is it bedtime yet? Darn I've been so busy I thought it was late! We went for a camelia and came home with a gardenia instead. Never ever have I planted a gardenia outside, they were like hothouse plants that lived awhile and then I kill'um! We planted it in sheltered spot just outside the pool cage. Gotta look more for my camelia. They bloom in the winter.

Then did a big grocery run...oh drugstore,too. 2loads of laundry and paid some bills....and it's only 2pm??????

DH had a late night snack Thurs of leftover Kielbasa, I thought all day about that and surcomed to temptation about 9pm last night. OMG the nightmare I had woke me when I pulled the night table over on me. Lamp etc chashing down on me. I woke so fast I even remember the damn dream.

Hope Lynn gets a chance to try Almond Grouper. It's something so good and so fattening but worth tasting.

Donna you're getting my senior moments problems. Gesh I never know what day it is until I check the paper.

Bobbi....wow have you done a ton of work already. We moved to town 13yrs ago. It is wonderful to be so close to stores etc. Sit on the front porch rocking like 2 old famers watching the world go by.

Again Happy Birthday Cajun....29 and holding?

Mary...what happens when the kindle gets full? I have just about the same amount in mine. Have most achieved but does that count as memory?

Watched 1dvd of season 3 last night of Kingdom, Donna. Kinda goofy and different.....did they change writers?

Washer is beeping......k3
