This lets others know that you have tried the recipe, and how you rate it on a scale of 1 to 5. Once enough votes have been cast for the recipe rating (2 votes), you may see a set of stars appear with the title of the thread in the thread listings. These stars reflect the average vote cast, and can allow you to quickly see which recipes you recommend.
