Mini-GoalsEven if you're not at goal yet, this is the place to share your successes and achievements along the way! Success can be measured in many ways besides the scales. Tell us about your triumphs, including Non Scale Victories
I'm not really good at setting goals like this. I have a bad tendency to set them too high. I'd like to say that I want to lose five pounds by next Sunday, but I don't know if that is reachable.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas for goal setting?
5lbs in a week could be a big stretch; try to do goals that are not so hard to reach.
5lbs by Jan. 1st could be a good goal to kick off the new year.
Also, I have found that pounds aren't the only way to measure success. Dedicating myself to walking 30 minutes 3-4x a week or getting 64oz of water in a day can also count as successes!
I like the water thing. I have trouble getting enough water into me. 30 minutes of walking is a little much for me right now, as I'm recovering from a knee injury. but I have been parking my car at the far end of the lot and walking further
I really would like to get one of those tickers. how do you do that??
Hmmmmm. I wonder if it's one of the features that you have to have so many posts before you can do it? Hopefully someone will chime in that knows this technical stuff better than me. Sorry
You can't get a ticker until you've been a member for 20 days and at least 20 posts.
Just to give you some ideas, let me tell you about my goals if you dont mind. My first goal is 162 but I didn't put a time limit on it because of the holidays. I will give it a date once I see how I survive the season. My goal is really just not to gain between now and Jan 1. Then I will tackle 162. My goal after that is 158 because that is my number for no longer being obese on the BMI scale. Again I will only put a date on this once I make the previous goal of 162. That is my thinking. Hope that gives you some ideas.
A good rate is half-2 lbs/week but 2 lbs is hard. It can be done though. What do you think?

I think it can be done, fluffypuppy. I've lost six pounds in the last two weeks. I didn't really have a goal, which isn't a good thing for me. if I don't, I get side-tracked. and that goes for EVERYTHING! LOL
I am like bargoo- I don't have a time frame on mine, just a number. My first two mini-goals were 10 pounds each, this current mini goal, which will put me at overweight instead of obese, is 7 pounds. All of my remaining goals are 5-8 pounds each. I like having multiple smaller goals instead of a couple large goals (20 pounds, 40 pounds down, etc), it makes me feel like I'm making more progress. Plus I'm impatient, so reaching goals as quickly as possible is psychologically pleasing,
I initially had time-related goals, but I found that I'd be lazy, and then try to exercise myself to death when the goal date was getting close, which isn't a healthy way to do things!
