Good Job, Puneri!

I'm down 1lb this week. I've been averaging 2-4lbs per month - not like the old days, when I could drop 3-4 in a week!!!
But it's movement in the right direction.

I'm up a bit this morning.
Will focus on my plan this weekend, as there will be some extra holiday stuff around.

I really want to be under 175 by the end of June. I'm hoping that as the weather improves and I get back in the garden, that I will see more consistent losses. All in all, I just try to stay on plan, though, and the weight will follow - right?

Hi everyone, newbie here. I'm 63, 5'3", weigh 153 and have my 45th HS reunion coming up the weekend after Labor Day -> motivation! I'd like to lose at least 20 lbs by then, and another 8-10 lbs to reach my goal.

I've been on HMR (like $NS$) for a week but I'm already sick of their prepackaged meals plus it's darned expensive. I'm going to switch to their "Healthy Shakes" plan, which will be like SlimFast I guess, and give it a go doing my own fruit, veggies, snacks, and dinners.

My real challenge is exercise. I have nerve damage from back surgery (in '89) that severely affects my left foot - I can walk, but need an ankle brace for anything more than little daily errands; if I try to walk for real exercise, neuropathy sets in after 10 minutes and doesn't go away, so I end up limping home. (Running is out of the question, which really bums me because I loved playing tennis.) I've tried riding my bike but it's just no fun alone, and none of my friends like to ride (they all want to walk). There's a gym near me but the membership fee is out-ra-geous. I would appreciate any suggestions!

Thank you, ladies, what a great forum you have here.

Drink lots of water with lemon, that will reduce water weight.
You are fine. The scale should not dectate your moods and certainly should not spoil your happiness.
Good luck
This is VERY good advice. Thank you! I need frequent reminders.

I need to lose at least 30 lbs. Not quite sure where I want to stop. Need all the support I can get as I have lost and gained so many times through the years. I'm realizing that for me, all areas of my life need to be in balance...spiritual, physical and emotional and esp the first two as when they are intact my emotions tend to follow. When I neglect them, my emotions get out of whack too. My life is more than how much I weigh.

Huzzah! I am in the age group specified on this thread and have lost more than 140 pounds in the rather distant past but am currently just struggling with the most irritating 20 pounds I have ever encountered lol.

My goal is 125. Two years ago I had reached a comfortable 117 following an injury and a very hard time in my life. I regained some weight and did the yo yo thing and rededicated to reach 125 by the Sunday AFTER the Winter Solstice.

Yawn, it is going to happen but it is not, apparently, going to happen fast.

I. Can. Wait.

P.S., I also loved Puneri's saying about the fruit.

I am 60 years old, I went to India for my son's marriage and piled up about 5 pounds. I am exercising regularly also watching my eating, not calculating calories though.
I have a question for exercising ladies. Last 10-15 days I feel the fat on my arms is becoming lose. What does it mean.

I'm 65 and my goal is to lose 45 pounds to bring me to 145. I weighed 182 this morning, but I won't log it until Wednesday. I don't have a deadline....but tomorrow would be excellent. Seriously, I have never been good at dieting.
Therefore, I am changing the way I eat....hopefully to something I can live with.

Do you mean the skin on your arms is getting looser? I get that way when I lose fat.

Maryea,
Yes I mean the same. I was wondering, after working so hard in gym, why this is happening. Thanks for the answer.

Puneri - Hi. I am the one who said your name reminds me of Panera Bread. Remember? LOL

The skin on your arms becomes loose when you lose fat in your arm, expecially at our age when the skin is not so resilient anymore. The best thing you can do for that is to do weight training for your biceps and especially the triceps. That will increase the muscle which will fill it the space where the fat used to be. Start light and keep increasing the weight every time the exercises start to feel easy. You have to increase the weight to build the muscle. You will not look like a muscle bound bodybuilder.....we women don't have the genes for that. It will just give your arms a nice shape and help with the hanging skin. I need to take my own advice! LOL
