Still awake! Figured out it's the steroids I am on - a side effect is insomnia. Doh! I don't know why I didn't think of it before (that and not losing a darn pound in the last 10 days! Water retention is another side effect).

Tomorrow is tree undecorating, some work items and laundry so I'm prepped to go to California. Oye!

Hi Beachers,

Yesterday was a super day (finally). I went and bought a upright freezer, had my new eye glasses exchanged, went to the fabric store for a fix, did a little grocery shopping so I could make some new dinner ideas (thanks to you guys – lentils (these were great made as SB snobby joes) and spaghetti squash pizza crust (tonight’s dinner), then I even stopped and got a car wash (which I never do). Came home cooked for a few hours, walked the dogs because the temps were in the 40’s and sunny, had a coffee break with my DH, cleaned a little, loaded some embroidery designs, watched a movie and went to bed. That is the best day I have had all week. (no headaches) I know boring, but it is life for me.

Chelby, I think that is what grandparents are suppose to do and I bet kids know mom may be stricker but they get a break at the GP house.

Karen, I need to do some more cleaning yet too, I like it better if I can multi task in-between doing something I really like, at least it goes quicker.

Still no snow here, what is up with that? I just know we will get dumped on. I feel sorry for the farmers, they need the moisture in the ground for summer, but on the other hand I do not like driving in it.

Looking for ward to another good day. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

(((Cyndi and Julie))) I hope this new week brings good things.

The dogs joined me again last night. I think there is a leftover Christmas elf in my house who unlatches the door for them. They snuggled in quickly so I did get back to sleep until 6.

Church this morning, followed by a meeting to plan food for a funeral on Tuesday ... and there I was thinking I was out of the food preparation business for a while! When I get home I will tackle a bunch of accounting stuff and also have a meeting to plan some exhibits for the Fair in July. Yup, we start this early! And the curators start back part-time at the Mill this week. I guess my "holiday" is over.

Yesterday was very warm here at 48F so I got the snow/slush shoveled off the decks and side walk. Good thing because we are back below freezing today and icy ridges are not fun for people with gimpy knees. I think we get another heat wave mid-week - this is a very strange January. It's usually our coldest month. We may pay for this in February. (If this keeps up, I'll have the change my avatar!)

Time to have some oatmeal and tiddle up for Church. I hope your Sunday has some relaxing and good things in it.

Good Morning, Chickies.

It's too rainy here to go to the flea market today. That is the pits because I didn't buy sweet potatoes in the store yesterday because I was getting them today. Either we won't have sweet potatoes for dinner, or I have to make another trip to the store. Yuck!

We had crazy weather yesterday. It was in the mid 60s. Jeff wore shorts. Then, it hailed for about 15 minutes -- hard! As far as I can tell, my car survived without dimples, but I probably have to wait for a sunny day to tell for sure. It's supposed to be rainy and warm here through Wednesday.

Nothing exciting going on in Beautiful Remlap. I finished the laundry yesterday -- AND put it way. WooHoo!!! I foresee a nap on this rainy day.

I slept in again this morning. This is getting to be a habit!

Cyndi, I haven't heard any updates on Julie, and I hope she is getting stronger each day and her recovery is going well. I think of both of you often.

Chickadeee, thank goodness your migraine is finally gone, and I'm glad you were able to enjoy such a rewarding day, yesterday.

Ruth, I think Jazz is your elf, as he's quite an escape artist and knows all the tricks, ! Jeez, it does seem very early to be planning The Fair, but it's a sign that summer will be upon us before too long.

We're having another Spring tease today, and the entire week looks good. I'm not complaining one bit after the huge dumps of snow we've had in the past 2 years. It can snow if it wants on the weekends, as long as the roads are dry during the week when I have to drive to and from the farm on those hilly back roads.

Today we're spackling and getting ready to paint, and replacing the carpeting in one of the bedrooms. Yesterday, Jake and Dustin tore out an extra closet to make the room larger. I've become quite creative in finding new homes for the stuff I used to store in there.

OK, time for me to tuck into my oatmeal and decide what to make for supper. I have a beautiful head of cauliflower in the fridge and have been hungry for that cauliflower pizza you gals have been talking about. I've made it before and it was delish! The trick is to pat the cauliflower dry thoroughly beforehand to keep the crust from becoming mushy. I loved it, but the rest of the family won't touch it, but I can make regular pizza for them.

ETA-

Good morning, Chelby!

Chickadee - I'm just plain tired reading your post!

Ruth - it is an odd January. In one way, it's allowed me to trail run (whowouldathunk), but I do like snow!

Jenn - ew, steroids! That'll explain a lot!

Cyndi - oh, sigh friend. Hope you're hanging in there.

Chelby - I saw your pick on FB, that was pretty impressive! Hope the car is okay.

I slept til 7:30 today...WOO HOO!! Church in a bit, and I'm not sure otherwise. Maybe we'll go to the Y swimming?

Hey all,
Happy Sunday. Hope everyone's doing great...I was very productive yesterday. I painted most of our foyer and the woodwork as well. Then I met a friend for coffee. My friend is in recovery and doing really well, I was so happy to see and hear that. Today is church, acupuncture, and then hanging out with friends. Hope everyone has a great day!

Oh dear! My Fair meeting is just over and we did open some of my leftover bottles of bubbly to celebrate a most successful meeting. Methinks it's a nap afternoon!

The Festive Frenzy is now officially over ... I think!

Note to Self: Do not store leftover champagne in the fridge!

So a slightly longer update for those who asked.

I just haven't felt like talking about things lately, been fighting the blues myself. Today is better. Julie had surgery Thursday to put a feeding tube in. It's a pretty simple procedure but anesthesia is a big risk in the middle of a myasthenic flare. She came out of it alright but now the pain meds are a bit of an issue. She's staying off them as much as possible today. We hope she will go home Tuesday but she is very weak and still can't swallow at all or talk much. She will get better but it's going to be a bit of a haul. In the meantime she has no short term disability coverage at her job, so I've been stressing over that too. Good time for me to be available for her, bad time for me to make so little money I'm looking for something part time and flexible to take the edge off, preferably close to home or even contract.

At least the weather has continued mild with almost no sign of snow or ice. I've also figured out how to manage my food while spending 9 hours a day at the hospital and two driving. I have finally moved into the food as function zone, never thought I'd get there. Once again SB principles save the day.

Cyndi- I will be praying for both quick recovery for Julie and that you are able to find a part time job that is flexible and fits in with everything else that you have been dealing with.

Jenn and Karen- great picture of the two of you, I am sure it was a lot of fun to meet up.
