Default Have to workout in my room - any advice?

I work 10-12 hour days sometimes and just can't get to the gym before or after work. The only space I have is my bedroom to workout. Any advice? I'm frustrated because I want so badly to go to the gym but it's nearly closed when I come home and I can't go before work. I also don't like to walk outside at night generally. What can I do? I'm dieting but my scale isn't budging at all.

I know I can lose weight when I do intense exercise. I love to exercise by walking or going to the gym. At home though I have no clue what to do because the only space I have is my room. When I was working a part-time job I worked out everyday at the gym or walked 3-4 miles a day and lost about 40 pounds. I know I can do it again but I'm just so stressed because I feel I have no time to workout and I feel I can't ever lose weight without that intense exercise piece. Sometimes I feel like just quitting my job because I packed on all my weight since I started this job last year.

I feel so stuck. Anyone have any advice?

OK, first of all, can you walk to work & back; or at least part of the way? You can get some fitness dvds and use them in your room. How about a stationary bike -- that will fit in a bedroom; and you can buy them second-hand if needs be. Try to find something that you like that you can continue to do well into maintenance; so you don't gain back.

What made you gain weight at work? Too much junk around to tempt you? Maybe take some healthy snacks & drinks with you to ward off hunger, and stay away from vending machines and fast foods at the cafeterias!

I don't know if a bike is in my budget right now. Has anyone lost weight with low intensity exercise like yoga? I saw a guy on the Joy Fit Club who just did yoga and lots tons...I wonder if that has worked for anyone?

When I had a small room, I exercised with Leslie Sansone DVDs and did weight training with PUSH/Turbo sculpt DVDs. There are quite a few DVDs out there that are feasible with small rooms.

Leslie Sansone & Walk Away The Pounds. Cheap, not a lot of jumping and you don't need a lot of space.

you might be surprised at the results you can get from low intensity exercise, like side bends, crunches, leg lifts, free weights, all things you can do in your bedroom. Even sitting on a chair, standing up, sitting down, standing up. add to that 10 or 15 minutes of marching in place. I've done all those things. consistency helps, like 1/2 to 45 minutes a night.

I've added Dance Central videos to a playlist on Youtube, and that's what I try to use in the mornings. It's simple, and it gets your arms and legs moving. I have easy videos in my playlist but you can find other difficulties.

Danskin weight balls are great... soft but solid and you can get them in sets of 2 in a lot of different weights. I find I can do more with the three pound ones but also have a set of five pounders.

Resistance bands are also good.

I also have to workout in my room, its a very small space. Before I got my Jlm DVD I had to get inventive with excersize routines, one i did was 30 crunches 30 seconds running on the spot 30 push ups 30 squats 30 rotating punches 30 kicks. I would repeat this 4 more times, plus warm up and cool down.

I have to work out in my room as well. There are some exercise videos that you can do for free on YouTube! I have a favorite one that is a 30-minute "cardio boot camp" and a few other that I enjoy. It's kind of hard to find the full-length ones on YouTube, a lot of the videos on there are just 2 to 5 minute previews. If this sounds like something you might want to do, let me know and I can send you links to the full-length ones I found.

Hey, I actually started working out & lost a good amount of weight through home workout videos b/c I didn't have the confidence to hit the gym yet or run in public. There are some really great videos that work well in small spaces - Jillian Michaels dvd's are good for that, esp. 30 day shred. Also, Leslie Sansone walking dvd's depending on what your fitness level is. I think you can go to amazon and search space-friendly workouts - good luck!!

I agree with the above poster. Jillian Michaels DVD's are great at getting an efficient, fast workout in a tiny space. Her "boost metabolism" DVD uses no weights and even though they do move, I'm able to use it in my tiny dorm room. So, that's what I would recommend. Try it out from the library. If you don't like it, at least you have some more moves to do by yourself.

Weight training can be done in a small space. Just 2 or 3 sets won't take up much room, and can be stored under a bed or something. Jumping jacks, squat jumps, burpees, and mountain climbers are all great for strength and cardio and don't require much space. Plus they're HARD!
