Default want to start running again

Hey everybody,
So I use to run...however was never a "runner" if you want to say.... I ran because it helped me lose weight rather quickly... at my best i was running 4-6 miles at least 3 times a week.....However, I have since had a baby.... a little girl 10 weeks old and gained abaout 40 pounds... uggg.... anyways, im at my heaviest i've been in a long time and really want to start running again but keep telling myself im "too fat" to be running right now and should lose weight first.... i am back on Weight Watchers for 2 weeks now..... im finishing up week 2 now and lost 3.2 pounds the first week.... any suggestions of what i should do or how i should start??

Google couch25k. It's an amazing program that has helped tons of people start running in a smart, sensible way.

Good times.

People on here run at all sorts of different weights. I attempted C25K like maybe 5 times but the time it stuck and I completed it, I started out in the 240s (I was in the 220s by the time I was done).

C25K (Couch 2 5k) is a beginner running programme (8 weeks if i remember correctly). If you're considering re-starting running, I highly recommend you take a look at it/ try it out to see if it's something you're ready for or you want to do. Even if you're not ready to do it now, it's something to work towards. When I finished it, I wasn't running 5km but I was running 30 minutes straight. And even though it's been over a year since I finished, I've kept it up and still "run" pretty regularly. I'm wayyyyy faster than I was but I also wouldn't call myself a "runner." You can find more info about C25K here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml and also check the exercise board. I think they have a support group there. Actually most of the boards on here have a C25K support group just do a search if you can't find them.

4-6 miles 3 or more times a week is a runner. Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise.

I also started at the beginning of 2011 with C25k and am now 6 weeks away from running my first half marathon! You should definitely consider yourself a runner - fast or slow, one mile runs or ten milers -if you run, you're a runner!!

4-6 miles 3xs a week and you aren't a runner? Give yourself some credit. I think you should ramp up that self esteem a bit and get out there! Too fat to run? No such thing IMO unless a doctor says so. C25k is a great suggestion, and there are tons of run/walks programs out there. Google it and you'll get tons of info. Congrats on your baby and congrats on wanting to get back to it so quickly, it took me a year after my son was born to get it together
