Hey ShannieG, glad we're "buddies"

My day one is going well. First off I haven't weighed myself in a few days and was dreading the scale. I've been eating pretty poorly the past week. I decided to bit the bullet, expecting to be up 3-4 pounds and was actually down to 200.8. This never happens to me.

I've drank nothing but water, have followed my preplanned "menu" for today perfectly so far, the rest of my food for the day is premade, and I"m going for a run tonight once the sun goes down (it's crazy hot/humid here).

I'm just trying to post alot to help me get over the "hump" of the first few days.

I didn't run, but it's 10:30 pm and I've stayed perfectly on Phase 1 for the whole day. Day 1 is almost done. I didn't get to eat a salad I prepaired and planned on eating. At least I will have something available to eat if I don't sleep though the night and get hungry.

I've been a little ansy with cravings and wanting to eat just a little something that is illegal. Hopefully in a day or two those evil voices will go away. 1 day down 13 to go

Hi Scarlett!

Isn't that how life is when you expect to gain you lose.. when you think your losing you gain! That is so awesome you were down and YAY for staying on plan for the first day!!

I did good yesterday too.. I had alot of sugar cravings it was insane how much my body was craving sugar especially at night before bed.

I have a total gym at home so I work out on that in the mornings and then in the evening I try to run. Last night I ran and I was out of energy after 20 min so I only ran for about 35 min. Which is pretty bad for me! I think the lack of sugar and carbs slowed me down. I could not imagine the heat you must have in NJ!

Let's see if we can resist the evil voices today!!! GOOD LUCK!!

Sometimes I find that when I want something sweet, especially right after a meal when it feels like it should be dessert time, popping in a piece of sugar free gum does the trick. It's not nearly as satisfying as a cupcake but neither is the guilt or the weight gain! Keep it up and you will see in a few days that the craving really do go away!

I find the peanut butter cup recipe does the trick (and the peanut butter really fills me up)!

Haha, I was having sugar cravings like crazy last night. It seemed every other commercial on TV was for Reeses, Kit-Kats, Snickers Ice Cream Bars, etc. It was driving me crazy.

This affirms to me that I really NEED to do this. I must get the junk out of my system because sugar drives me insane.

I'm now safely though half of day 2. I'm feeling a little tired but no SB flu so far. This may be due to the heat and bad sleep last night.

Also my mom just got back from Costco with a boatload of food I can't eat. Once I make it though day 4-5 it should be easier to deal with. At least most of it is frozen, so I can't impulsively eat something.

Hey Katie chewing sugar free gum really works.. But I did have a sore jaw I think I had too many pieces lol!

Hey Jenne, I tried the peanut butter cup today and I felt like I was cheating it was so yummy!!

Hey Scarlett, I love costco rotissere chicken it is only like 5.00 and I eat it the whole week with a green salad. I like it and it is pretty cheap! I did pretty good for my main meals but I work in Sales and I went to a mixer and I had a couple appetizers because I was starving I know they were totally bad and I feel so guilty.
Do you think I will gain weight or should I just restart phase 1? What do you think?

Hey it's ok,

I would just eat phase 1 food tommorow and continue for the two weeks. Add 2 more days to the end of it if you want to. I doubt you'd gain weight over a few appetizers, maybe you'll have a little water weight tommorow though. A big key to this is not letting yourself get too hungry. Eat your snacks, keep almonds and string cheese on hand, plan ahead etc. Just a minor setback

I've been eating a large salad with olive oil and vinegar for lunch most days. With some canadian bacon. I think getting enough veggies in is very important for phase 1, it keeps things moving

Hey Shannie! How's it going? Starting day 4, I never get that SBD flu, but OH MY, I had it bad this time, I thought I was going to get sick, and left work early, I did not even do that when I was pregnant! I am down 10 pounds, which I am sure will change as my body adjusts but its a nice perk for now! Because I have been so sick on my stomach, I haven't had any cravings, but I tried a taco bake from phase one recipe on here and that was AWESOME! I cheat and buy a lot of veggies pre-cut. It makes for quick cooking at dinner. I was going to the Y regularly, but I thought I would get through this 14 days and then get back on track there. My brother lives in Cali! I live in Virginia and it is sooooooo hot here! I don't think one meal would make you have to start over, either, as long as at the end of the 14 days you're cravings are gone. Hope you have a great day, I am up, been having trouble sleeping, but its a great time to read on here and stay encouraged! We can do it!!!!

Hey Kellahhh that is so awesome you are down 10 pounds! I am so sorry you are feeling yucky!! I have been waking up feeling sick and then when I eat breakfast I am ok. You are so lucky to not have any cravings. I am doing much better today.. after my little work cheat I went right back on plan and had a big bowl of veggies for dinner so I feel like it really did not affect me too much. But I learned my lesson to just say NO! I am going to have to try the Taco Bake it sounds good. The great thing about Cali is the weather it is perfect for working out in so I have no excuse! I can't imagine the humity and heat on the East Coast I feel for you.. Hope you have a fabulous day and keep up the good work only 10 days left of phase 1!!

I usually get SB flu like CRAZY but nothing this time. The week before starting it, I went nuts with the diet sodas, coffee, cake etc because I knew I'd be giving them up for awhile. Also I've been doing Phase 1 really cleanly, mostly veggies, protein and legal oils. No beans and only a greek yogurt and cheese stick per day of dairy. I'm only drinking water. With all this, I've had no flu. It's a head scratcher, but I'll take it. I'm currently in the middle of day 3.

I stopped running for a few days, partially because of the heat and partially because coming off the sugar is making me feel sluggish. I'm going to get back outside on day 4 or 5.

Also this morning, after 2 days I am down 3 pounds . 197.8 Solidly in ONEderland. I'm going to a wedding in a month and really want to fit into an ambitious dress. I could really use 2 very solid weeks of weight loss. The cravings are starting to come down, but I don't know if its due to my blood sugar or the fact that I'm loosing.

This weekend my mom is cooking up a HUGE bbq, hopefully I survive it (and the leftovers).

ShannieG - glad your back on track, hopefully the flu will be gone soon. It's actually a good sign, the sickness is the junk getting out of your system. In a few days you'll have a ton of energy and pop out of bed in the morning with a bang.

It's 1 am and I've safely made it though day 3. Tonight my brother came home from college and grilled and ate 2 hot dogs in front of me. UGH!

On a positive note I made him get on the scale, then I got on the scale and I now weigh less than him for the first time in awhile .

Tomorrow my mom is whipping up a huge BBQ. There is 2 pounds of her amazing macaroni salad in the fridge. It's going to be a tough day.

This evening the cravings came back. It's tough to make yourself scrambled eggs for dinner when there are so many trigger foods around. I've also been feeling really crabby lately, due at least partially to the lack of sugar. Hopefully I'll feel better in the morning. On to day 4!!

Hi Scarlett!

YAY for being down to 197 that is so awesome! It really is the greatest feeling when you start to see the scale move and your clothes get bigger!

Did you survive the BBQ? Boy did I have a weekend of events.. So Friday night I went to dinner with friends to a southern bbq restaraunt. I did really good with odering the seasonal veggies and protein.
Today Saturday I went to a brunch Bridal Shower. It was really cool becuase they did an omelet station so I was able to have have eggs, veggies and cheese. I was so excited to see food I can eat. They had desserts and muffins but I felt full and good from my omelet.
I haven't weighed myself yet but I feel really good I am going to wait until next Saturday to see my final results.
I hope you survived your weekend!

Hey ShannieG, glad you survived so many eating out events. I wish I could only weigh myself once a week. I just get anxious and do it way too often, especially when I'm being really good. It's a bad habit.

As for me, I caved.

I experienced insane cravings since Wednesday, when the BBQ junk first arrived. My Brother's Friday BBQ produced a TON of leftovers, including a HUGE bowl of my mom's macaroni salad (a weakness of mine). Today, I planned on eating salmon for dinner. Then suddenly my mom comes home and tells me company is arriving any minute. She invited 10 people over to eat the leftover BBQ food.

Unable to cook my dinner, I climbed upstairs hungry. If I received some notice, I would have cooked my salmon and refrigerated it to eat later. I consoled myself by thinking at least the macaroni salad would go. Then THEY ORDERED PIZZA. We went from getting rid of junk food to having an additional leftover pizza. Feeling furious, hungry and defeated, I caved and ate a small slice and a little macaroni salad. It actually relieved me. Giving in extinguished this insane feeling of trying to avoid the trigger foods. Tomorrow I'm back on the wagon.

It worked out well. I ate very little "illegal" food tonight and I lost weight these past few days. If I wasn't OP, I would have gone nuts on pizza, BBQ, macaroni salad and beer all weekend. I lost weight instead of otherwise gaining 4-5 pounds. This probably produced a net difference of 7-8 pounds.

Hi Scarlett,

I think you will be ok.. and for the circumstances you were in you did the best you could do. Rather than depriving yourself and binging later. a slice of pizza and some macaroni salad isn't going to kill you I would just not make a habit of eating it everyday. Just think tomorrow is a new day and your back on.
I did ok today, Sundays are hard becuase it is my day to relax go to church veg and make good food. So I made really healthy burritos with fresh veggies, spicy chicken avocado black beans and a whole wheat tortilla (which was my cheat) but it felt so healthy.. But I am back on plan tomorrow too.. We can do it!!
