I have never been to Sonic but I see it the entire time I am on the treadmill because it's positioned RIGHT IN FRONT of my gym. That and 8 other places that could get me into so much trouble! LOL Thankfully, with time, my cravings for those places went away. Sounds like that happened with you too and the food just isn't worth it anymore! And on top of that, you made better choices when you did go! Kudos sweetie!!
On Saturday night I was an hour north of my city and saw a Steak and Shake. I have only seen these in my travels to Florida where, I might add, I did quite a bit of damage! If this means these places will be heading my way soon, I'm in trouble!
I HATE Sonic. They literally have nothing there to eat for us dieters. Every other fast food place has something - Hardees has these AWESOME turkey burgers for less than 500 calories, Wendy's has this amazing berry salad with grilled chicken, Burger King's grilled chicken sandwich is heavenly. Even McDonald's has tasty salads for less than 500 calories.
Sonic has nothing. All their food is greasy gross, and stay the heck away from anything blue there (or red, or green, or whatever color their frozen drinks are). Sonic is the one place where I refuse to eat.
I forgot about all the drinks, slushes, and floats. Cherry limeades are the best thing about Sonic! It shouldn't be too hard to come up with a diet soda version of one.
I love that all of Sonic's flavored iced teas (raspberry, peach, cranberry etc) can be ordered "unsweet" and have only 10 calories for so. Their iced teas are SO DELICIOUS. DW loves the diet cherry limeade (I can't have aspartame, so it's out for me).
Man, I use to love Sonic. I remember a few years ago when I was over 200 lbs, I use to go there and get the foot long chili and cheese coney with onions and the cheese fries. Nom'd that down. I haven't had that in years though. It was probably 2000+ calories in just one of those meals alone.
I used to be OBSESSED with Sonic. I live in Allentown, PA, and I think my obsession was rooted in the fact that the closest one was an hour and a half away. My two best friends and I would make a day of road-tripping out to Lancaster to eat at Sonic and hang out at Amish fruit stands.
Now all of a sudden there are three new Sonics within a five mile radius. I used to love their food, but now I just feel sick when I think about it. Their onion rings were my big obsession (I am somewhat of an o-ring connoisseur) but now... bleh. One less temptation to worry about!
Sonic is subpar. If I'm going to waste the calories on fast food, it needs to be better than Sonic. The only thing I really like from them is their ice cream/desserts.
A burger for 1280???
That is unbelievable O_O The fattiest burger I ever saw here was 700 and I was shocked at that. So it is partly true they make things bigger in america. I thought it was a joke.
I remember when they opened the first Sonic in NJ on Route 17 by me and it would be such a pain in the butt to get home because the drive-thru line would actually back up onto the highway and cause an even bigger traffic mess than usual! There would have to be a police officer there every day just to direct the traffic. One night a friend of mine and I decided to check it out just because of the hype and I remember ordering a burger and thinking it was not worth the hype AT ALL. I remember the frozen drink I had not being bad though, but not worth a return trip. The only positive thing during that trip was being so amused at the fact that they actually bring your order to you on rollerblades to your car! lol I never thought I'd actually have that happen! It clearly doesn't take much to amuse me lol
I'm from England, so the thought of going to drive into a little booth and radioing in the order to have someone bring it out was just so AMERICAN I had to do it. I had a burger, fries and a drink. Oh my goose, my stomach did not like it one bit a while later. I was lying on my boyfriends bed in agony, I just felt like my stomach was having a tantrum! Never again!
