I love that dress! What a wonderful thing to do for your daughter And it definitely looks cuter than what's in stores.

You make me want to work on sewing. I've always wanted to learn but haven't started because I am sooo intimidated.

Good work!

I don't remember, I'll have to check. I did alter the pattern a little because I didn't like it. The shorts were supposed to be regular shorts, but I added elastic around the leg openings, and I did the bodice differently so she could wear it longer. I want to say it's from McCalls, but I'm not sure.

Wait... Found it. It says it's easy, but it's definitely not something I would've wanted to pick right up and start on without *some* sewing skill, but that's just me.

It is adorable. When we lived in Hawaii, I made just about everything my daughter and I wore. In fact, I made a whole layette for my baby before she was born. Back in those days, you didn't know what you were having in most cases. I made everything in purple, some greens and combos of pinkish and blueish for whatever we had.

You'll enjoy doing this. Fabric isn't cheap so hang out at the remnant table.

She will love wearing whatever you create.

I've been sewing for years now. I just never did clothing. I tried a dress for myself once, years ago, but it didn't turn out very well. I like remnants. I have a dresser full of different kinds of fabrics that I have different plans for. It's an addiction!! LOL

Great job - this brought me back to remembering when my mom sewed me lots of little play dresses, and would sew up the SAME dress for a couple of my "baby dolls" too What a gift for a kid to get - something special for her.

It IS an addiction. At least it is legal. Keeps ya outta the bingo parlors. You might think about keeping fabric from everything you sew for her and make her a small wall hanging quilt for her room. Or you could make it a lap quilt for her using the left over fabric. My stash keeps growing. Don't know how it does that. It just does.

I've been getting addicted to quilting lately. After my great grand daughter was born, I made her a couple of jumpers. I found some "Santa Kitty" fabric for a Christmas jumper. It was adorable. However, I'm embarrassed to say - it had been so long since I had sewn garments, I forgot about things like notches and darts. You know, minor stuff like that.

Thanks for the link! I can sew, so I'm not too worried, but your modification details were very helpful! My three and four year old would love dresses like that
