A lot more people, have to wait for treadmill and some weight machines. I know it will go back to normal before very long though.

My gym always gets busy this time of year like everyone else's, but I try to use it as an opportunity to try out new things I haven't before.

For example, because the cardio machines have been so popular, I started to jump rope and also use the rower (it's always available). Last year I started working on the punching bag and have actually incorporated into my regular workout. I imagine I will do the same with jumping rope and rower throughout the year.

I go in the mornings and I've noticed an increase..but not bad. The other night I went to evening spin class because I missed the morning, that class was full and so was childcare!

Anyone else's gym have a huge February surge? I was expecting tons of people in January and it didn't happen. Just when I thought my gym was immune to the New Years rush, people came crawling out of the woodwork. Have to throw some bows to get a bike in spin class now.

My gym closed it's second location, so everyone who was there is now at my location, plus the staff change from the merge. The vibe is definitely different, but its focus is on performance training for school kids, so a lot of the bodies are kids in their own weight room or parents dropping off and picking up.
I like to run right before they close, though, so the cardio room is generally completely empty.

Yes, and my gym's director said people in the industry are all observing this, or at least the ones in the Northeast that were affected by the series of storms that were an almost weekly occurrence in January. My spin classes have been filling up by 9 AM the day before; I've been calling between 6-7 AM to reserve a bike.

Oh, I would hate to have to reserve my bike! Fortunately there aren't a whole lot of 5:45 AM folks. Those of us who do go are extremely regular. I think one time the class was full with one bike remaining but usually it's half full on its busy days.
