Sum, I was born and bred in the Bronx, moved to Israel when I was 20, so I've lived here for almost 28 years now. My husband (both the first and the last) was/is British so I have a lot of ties to the UK.
Ashley, sending you hugs . Life is tough at times isn't it? Hang in there and I know things will get easier for you. Thank God for your good job and your strength. Always remember the strength of a woman (love that song by Shaggy). And remember this weight loss journey is a long one. A dinner at Moms is only a moment on the journey. One moment doesn't matter in a journey of a million moments/decisions. You can make better decisions today!!! You said the Lord has always provided for you, just keep your faith and stay positive. We're here for you...
I am prepping for the storm of the century. I need to get some supplies like fruit and veggies to tie me over. My lupus is acting up, wondering if the weather is affecting it...but no rest for the wicked today. -- I ate more calories yesterday than I intended to, and I woke up starving.
I think I have to skip my walk today.
Mirj -- That is interesting! As I told I am from Finland, hubby was born is Australia and we live in US. I never pictured, in a million years when I was a little girl, my life would end up this way. I found happiness from half aworld away
BTW, we lived in Surrey UK for a few years.
My sister lived in Israel for two years. She volunteered at kibbutz. She still goes back every few years, she absolutely loved it there!
As John Lennon said, life is what happens when you are busy making other plans. I also mentioned before, I spent a year in Norway when I was a child, and we visited Finland. I remember a lot of lakes and a lot of mosquitoes.
Do you remember the name of the kibbutz your sister lived on? I spent almost two years on a kibbutz as well, planned to live there forever, but then met my now-X and there was no way he was going to live on a kibbutz, so there went one dream...
Don't just stock up on fruits and veggies, I think with the snow you are about to get you're going to want some carbs, you know, just because. If you make yourself a lentil or a split pea soup (yellow split peas are light and yummy), add tons of veggies (more fiber there), it will keep the cold and the munchies away!
I was maybe 8 years old when she was there - she is 11 years older - Next time I talk to her, I will try to remember to ask.
Funny; I just made split pea soup a few days ago with potatoes, carrots, onions and ham. I made it creamy. -- I LOVE to cook and my dutch oven has always something in it. I think today I will make Annie's lasagna and my husband's favorite spicy baked mac'n'cheese with panko topping. Not health food, but good stuff for snow days.
If you want a good snowstorm soup check out my recipe for Potato and Leek Soup. It's creamy not because of cream but because of the potatoes, so it's kinda dietetic...
No work today; office is closed. We're in the calm before the main wave, and still have power, so that's good.
NOT eating well at all. That ends NOW. Mashed potatoes for breakfast. What the heck? I had about 3/4 of a cup of them left over and just finished them off. I'll get on track here. At least (?) i'm counting everything and logging it for ww so i don't forget (conveniently).
Ashley - hang in there! I just now got caught up on everyone's personals ... and actually forgot to check to see if there is a Feb. thread! Off to see if there is one and I'm posting in the wrong spot!
Yes, I think we need a new thread, we are over 500 and it is Feb after all! I have never started a thread, could figure it out, or someone else could get one going.
I had to post to say 2 pounds down this morning which puts me at 20 pounds lost!!!! I am so close to my first mini goal which is 207. That will be 10% of my weight gone, yay! My next mini is of course Onderland which I am shooting to hit before St. Pat's day, as I have joined that challenge!
Sounds like food is on our minds today. Yesterday I made Chicken and brown rice soup, leftovers for lunch today. Today we will finally have the Mexican stuffed shells which is just a mixture of ground turkey, salsa, corn, black beans, seasonings, stuffed into jumbo shells (I use whole wheat), sprinkled with a little mexican cheese blend and baked. Top them with sour cream, cilantro, etc. Easy to portion out and the kids love them. Tomorrow or the next day I will have pan seared tilapia and sweet potato fries. I found some spicy sweet potatoe fries in the frozen health food section of the store and they are fantastic. Quicker than making from scratch. Leftovers Thurs and then wing it for the rest of the weekend due to DH being gone.
Annie- that's so funny, I would have done the same, that's disgusting!
angelskeep- I am giving the peanut butter to my hubby to take to work with him today, if it's not here, I can't eat it. I'll post some of my tricks after I read all the posts.
