I thought for sure my bs would be high this morning....I forgot to take my metformin last night AND my carbs yesterday were very high..71%. I was only around 1600 calories though and I did walk around the block. My bs was the lowest so far - 114 !!!!

BS is still behaving strangely. Yesterday I was 33% carbs and 40% protein, under my allowed calories and today bs was 144. I don't understand.

YOu may be seeing a bit of a lag. The liver may be releasing stores when you are under allotments and low on carbs. We want to avoid spikes and lows when possible, so we don't stress the pancreas or the liver.
If its steady when you stay on plan, then your plan is working.
I had to keep lowering carbs to get good sugars on a steady basis, which is why I started the metformin.

71% of 1600 is 1529 cal or 382 grams carbs. You had exercise. And your time between eating and testing was how many hours?

You say today was 33% out of how many total calories? Any exercise? And time between eating and testing was...??

All these things would affect the number.

this is a little math problem, I get about 1120 calories from carbs, (224 g carbs) which is on the high side, but as you say, exercise can make a big difference.

So after about a week of my BS being back in the 130-140's I am now back in the 114-125 range the last 5 days. I can't figure it out. Strangely enough, the week it was higher I was walking everyday. Now these past 5 days I haven't been and it goes lower. Something's off.

are we talking fasting sugars or pre or post meals?
It is quite common for bs to be high after vigorous exercise, but not the fasting levels.

These are my first thing in the morning fasting numbers. Yesterday I was over on my calories and high on carbs. Not too much over - technically I had maintenance calories yesterday. The only exercise I got was 25 minutes of mowing the lawn non-stop and that was around 8pm. I went to bed around 11 after having two slices of thin n crispy pizza hut pizza that my 18 yo ds brought home. I shouldn't have had any, but I had dinner around 5:30 then mowed the lawn around 8 and I felt so hungry when he brought it in that I just didn't say no. I thought my numbers would be high this morning but it was 119.

sounds like you get dawn effect high fasting sugars overnight if you don't have a bedtime snack. So, keep having snacks at bedtime, make them healthy, and as part of your daily calorie allowance. Planning for it will make it better and better. Good going
