Default Hi Ladies!

I've been missing in action this week, so this is an in-between post to kinda get caught up. I've really enjoyed the discussions, so keep on chatting

I had a time with my sinues...seems like all I can do is put one foot in front of the other then. But I did keep eating and doing my organizing/ cooking, so I think I must be getting a lot more into the wol than I have in the past.

Thanks to whomever was talking about the Schwarzbein books. After going out and examining them several days in a row, I finally bought both main books. I finished one and am halfway through the second. She just makes so much sense. I work in healthcare and it is important to me to understand the inner workings of our bodies. Some of the other authors go into all that as well, but some of the hormonal interactions are more easily understood in her book. Not sure I can give up my caffine again though I did start taking vitamin B because she made me realize that I am at risk to being very deficient with my gluten intolerance.

We had a major community emergency drill here yesterday that got REALLY nuts when 1) the phone system crashed (not a drill) and 2) a man escaped on our campus after assaulting a police officer (also not a drill!) We all survived, but boy were those curves life threw us!

Take care everyone, I'll try to catch up individually in a bit. Thanks for all the warm welcomes, and welcome to all the newbies. Su

Thanks for all your help and advice I did check out the atkins web site and it is awsome and inspiring. I think I have found my internet home away from home. Good luck to all and I will check back often to show my success, I am starting to feel a little more like a happier chick instead of a misery chick.

Hey there Su, oh I hate when my head hurts too. I hope your feeling better now. The more I read about vitamins and supplements, the more I take. The top of my fridge is now covered in bottles and I think DH is wondering if I'm not getting a little nuts about them. All I know is I feel so much better when I take them.

Mis Chick, I'm so glad to see you looking more positive today. I sure hope you come back and let us know how you are.

A sad and scarey thing happened here yesterday too, Su. Two of our neighbors were shot and killed. We live 1 mile out of town and they live a mile from us. So far they don't know who did it. I know it had to be something personal and not random, but it does make me feel kind of scared. It's the second time this year we've had people murdered out this way. The last time, it was a whole family. I wonder where this world is going when stuff like this happens.

Nikki,

I am so very sorry for the trauma you and your community is experiencing right now. There just has been too much violence lately to even comprehend.

I remember when an elderly man that used to sit out on his front porch to enjoy the sunshine was killed around the corner from where I worked. His backyard faced an interstate, and he looked like an easy victim. It was heartbreaking to drive by there everyday and know he was gone, and in such a horrifying manner. I hope the victims' families will find some comfort soon. SU

Thanks Su, your a sweetie. We didn't really know them, DH gave one a ride home last month when his car broke down. The other neighbors said on the news that they were really nice people and willing to help anybody. As it turns out, they had a crank lab at least that's what the news is saying now. So it was probably either a deal gone bad or a robbery. I really hate crank. It has ruined so many peoples lives that I know personally. Either they've done it or someone in their family. It's a big problem here in Iowa, I guess people get bored and then they can't get away from it. It's just sad.

Hi Gang!!

Just another quick check in. It sounds like everyone is going to have really busy weekends.

I had a good weigh-in today, so I feel so very happy. I've also been reading the Swartzbein books pretty intensely. Again, I'm still so hooked on the caffenine, but I like the things she says .

Does anyone else find it so frustrating when people just want to shove food into you, and won't take no for an answer? Some friends that I usually like a lot just would not let up last night. I had to have some pizza or wine. I had already had a huge chicken salad in their company, but I had to almost threaten to get ill with anymore food before they would let up.

Oh, well! I think they drink too much Su

Hi Everyone,
I made some strange stuff for supper tonight. I thought it sounded good, but I'm wondering now. It's turkey tenderloins with a sauce of sour cream, mustard and dill over it. Some onions thrown on top and baked for an hour. I took the cover off and even though it smells good, the sour cream has curdled and well, it looks really bad. I'm letting it brown a little, maybe that will help the appearance some. If nothing else, I'll throw some parsley on top to disguise it and promise never to make it again.

Su, I never had a problem with caffiene. Or rather, I gave it up a long time ago because it was interferring with my sleep. I use to work 12am-8am and I drank a lot of coffee at night to stay awake. Then I couldn't sleep in the day like I should, so I gave it up and it really helped my sleeping. I still have a caffienated ice tea at restaurants for a drink, but none at home.

I think everyone now accepts the fact that I'm eating differently and they just quit trying to make me eat food that I don't want to. It did take awhile. I'm still having a time at restaurants trying to get things the way I want them. We eat out less now than we use to, but we still eat out 2 or 3 times a week. I had no idea how much I use to eat out. If you'd have asked me, I would have said hardly at all.

Got to go try to make supper presentable, Nikki

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a good weekend!

I went to my friend's wedding on Saturday and although I didn't out I didn't eat OP and then drank too much wine but hopefully I balanced it all out by dancing for 4 hours that night

Back OP on Monday

Nikki-how did your dinner turn out?

SuGeorgia-yep! Food pushers are a pain!

AnneD-hope you are feeling better now.

Hi to Jennifer, Ace, Kay, Mis and Nugget.

I'm really tired due to a busy weekend and the time change.
Goodnight

Angry Hey guys,

I am still getting used to the time change. It usually takes me about a week or so. Sun. morning my dog got me up at 4:30 am to go outside. This morning she at least waited until 5:30.

We got a dusting of heavy wet snow on Sat. We lost our power for about 2 hrs. After it came back on it hiccupped a few times, but thankfully stayed on. By late morning it turned to rain, and now the snow is all gone.

I have been battling an annoying cold for the past few days. Yesterday I felt like I had been hit by a truck. Today I feel a bit better.

mauvisroux, did you get any snow Sat.? Have you gotten snow yet?

nikkic, did you eat your strange concoction? If so, how was it? I am so sorry about your neighbors. That must be very scary for you and your DH. At least I would feel better knowing there was a probable reason for the shootings rather than a random act.

Su, I too like my caffiene but try to only drink it in the morning. When I have coffee in the afternoon (except at a restaurant), and in the evening I have decaf. I did wean myself off of caffiene when I first did SSzing, but when I went off it I went right back to the "high-octaine" stuff. What I did to wean myself off of caffiene was make my coffee 1/2 & 1/2, then gradually reduce the reg. coffee until I was drinking all decaf. Since I am losing weight, and still drink reg. coffee I'm not going to give up my morning jolt What a sad story about the elderly man. I honestly don't know what is wrong with society today.

Misery Chick, Good luck with the Atkins plan. Please check in often to let us know your progress.

Hi Anne & Jennifer.
