I am a mix of Irish and Italian - pasty white with thick black hair. If i don't shave for more than 2 weeks, my legs are hairy like a man's. I have the belly hair, the nipple hair, and oh yeah, the facial hair that I have to spend 10 minutes in the shower shaving off everyday other wise it is very noticable. I hate it, it feels like a curse. A doctor told me once that all of my hormone levels were normal, and that i could slow the growth with an expensive cream, but not stop it. It started when i was about 16 or 17, overweight and stressed to the max. i've fluctuated a lot since then, but it has not changed at all. I hate feeling like a freak, and not being able to let people touch my face for fear of them finding out. I was with my boyfriend for about a year before he knew, and the only reason i told him was because he challenged my need to spend so much money on razors, so frequently.

I know for me, the excess hair is hormonal. My testosterone levels have always been slightly elevated and the hair was much worse pre-birth control.

I have to shave the underside of my chin and I have a hair trimmer for my upper lip and I get some dark hairs on my "sideburns", but they aren't true 'burns. I also have a lot of belly hair, but that's easily taken care of. The toe hair? I really don't care about that!

Also, one of my most embarrassing memories is having my mom Nair my back before Prom, because all you could see were dark hairs all over the place. The back hair has disappeared since being on Birth Control, thank god!

yeah i wouldn't say its completely hormonal. when i was born, i had a little layer of hair all over me. like my back and shoulders... as well as a full head of black hair. keep in mind this is totally normal for darker babies. hah.

my dad used to call me "μαϊμού" which is monkey in greek when i was little. in fact he still does.

I have it too! I'd say a lot of it is hormonal for me but I also having it in the genes (being a mix of Indian and English/Irish/Scottish doesn't do that great for hiding this kind of feature). Since taking metformin for my PCOS that I've seen a decrease in the rate at which the hair grows and the darkness. I have to use the little depilatory cream once a week for my lip and side burns and then I spend like 10-15 mins every morning plucking away the noticable hairs that pop up between uses of the cream. I hate it especially since the cream sometimes gives me a chemical burn. I have the hair on the toes, my lower back, and the little happy trail thing too, oh and not to forget the nipples too that I have to pluck every so often haha. I thought I was always kinda freakish because of it but in some ways I'm happy to know I'm not alone with this.

This is the best thread ever!

I am mostly hairless, or was till I got preggo with my son, then I got that happy trail that goes from the belly button to the pubes. Its mostly disappeard but there are a few stragglers that I shave.

up until I was 20 I had no hair, pubes...leg hair...pit hair...its an alaska native thing. You'd think we'd be furry to keep us warm but we lack body hair. My eyebrows though, they are a little bushy, in a unibrow kind of way. I have them waxed about every two or three weeks so I don't get called sasquatch face by my sister.

That must be a native thing. My friend's hubby, and a friend of mine are both Native American and neither one of them has any body hair whatsoever. I used to make fun of the two of them because I thought they did the full body shaving like a lot of Puerto Rican guys around here, but they don't. They have eyebrows, and the hair on top of their heads and that's it. Chests, backs, butts, legs, everything is bare.

What I wouldn't give...

oh hallelujah for this thread! i am not alone! i have lots of them on my neck, and even some on my upper chest.. so i NEVER wear v necks or any shirts without a tshirt type neckline. whenever i do pluck them, they usually turn ingrown and get red and they SUCK. it's terrible.

and i'm constantly feeling on my neck to see if hair is growing in there. and it drives me insane to the point that i bought some tweezers JUST FOR MY CAR so if i am driving and realize one is growing in, i can rid myself of it asap.

we are a sisterhood, my friends. a sisterhood!

Well, I'm joining the sisterhood, because I'm hairy too. I have PCOS.

I've got the beard. Not so bad since I take the metformin and birth control though. I do have the belly and nipple hair... it's so fine that I just leave it though.

As for my face, I use Surgi-Cream. I get it from Sallys. Nair doesn't do it for me.

Beaka, I use the surgi-cream too but I tend to get the little chemical burns even though I don't leave it on longer than it says too. I've been using it for a couple years now and it's also starting to not work as well. Boooo! Have you tried any other products?

Wow, I always felt like a freak and here I find so many other women with the same problem!

Mine started when I was a teenager and has gotten progressively worse ever since. (Parallel with my weight gain, I think) Started with the upper lip, then the treasure trail, then the chin. Now I also have some random nipple hairs and a very, very annoying small patch of light hair right between my breasts. What's the use of a DD+ bust if you can't show it off without fear of forgetting to pluck one stray hair? Argh!

I do a combination of wax/pluck/nair for most of it, although I'm looking into laser hair removal for the facial hair. Anybody had any success with that?

My worst problem is the chin. It started out with not so many hairs, then I used the nair cream when I was back in my first few years of college, and now I feel like I'm doing my whole entire chin every other day. I hate it. I want to wax it, but in order for that to happen it has to grow out to be so long and you all know that's not going to happen.
