Thumbs down Boo Easter Candy

Mind if I join in:

I pledge that I will eat no Easter candy tomorrow! Or the next day! Or the next!

Surely some 20 pounds that I shed were constructed from Easter candy, particularly jelly beans, and most particularly jelly beans that went on sale after Easter.

Lily, tell your son that just because they give him MREs doesn't mean he has to eat the whole thing! He might just be the first guy I've heard of gaining weight on an MRE diet! Most of them just chuck the whole thing and go hungry instead...unless Army MREs are way better than Air Force MREs... Glad you're on the mend!

Megan, I have the same psychological issue going on with feeling like maybe I'm subconsciously saboutaging myself. Did I spell that right? It really looks wrong. Regardless, what I've surmised from my limited musings on the issue is that I feel like I need a "project" and so far I haven't seen maintenance as a "project". If I'm getting close to a goal weight, I have ALWAYS started a cycle of overeating and gained back some of the weight I'd lost, which put me back in loss mode and gave me something to work on. I think I need to see maintenance as taking just as much effort as losing weight and hopefully I'll be able to break this cycle.

We'll be gone tomorrow, so happy Easter everyone!

Kara

Hi maintainers,

It's my birthday! And my kids gave me the most ginormous birthday breakfast in bed with lots of presents, singing, and hugs. And one of the presents was a choclate easter egg hunt in my room where DD had hid 9 eggs 93 for each of us, but I'll probabely give 2 of mine to DD and DS). I feel like i am the luckiest mom on the planet.

Have a great easter everyone,
Rabbit (Just noticed...does this make me easter rabbit ???)

Good luck getting your act back together Kara!

To those of you observing easter: keep away from the chocolate eggs!

Happy Easter, everyone!!

Just dropping by. I moved up to Memphis last weekend and started my job Monday. So far so good.

I was able to move into my apartment yesterday. Yay! Its little loft and I love it....except for the interstate right outside. Does anyone have any suggestions for curtains that may help with the noise? I have freaking 8 ft tall windows in my bedroom area!

It feels strange not being at church; My parents left this morning and I didn't have time to get ready and go with the BF's parents.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning!

Wow, I'm so glad some of you are joining me on this no-easter-candy thing. I love easter candy more than any other kind, and I feel so much better about today and the next few days (Meg, I'm glad you added not just today but the next day and the next because it sure likes to hang around) because I know I'm not going to have any so there is no struggle--should I or shouldn't I--and then feeling bad when I succumb.

Meg, my kids are so different too, but also a lot a like. There is 6 years between them so there was really no rivalry of any kind. By the time our daughter came along, our son was 6 and playing with friends (not hanging with Mommy) was his thing. That gave me lots of one-on-one time with my daughter too. He was always so into banging on things with sticks when he was young and that turned him into a drummer... Funny but drummers run in our family, on my mom's side. My daughter plays the piano and the double bass.

Lilly, I'm so glad you are on the mend. Too bad about you DH, though. It's a smart move to stay home for Easter. I hope you have a nice, relaxing day. You deserve it! And don't worry about the extra weight. You know you can take it off later.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Happy Birthday Easter Rabbit!

I'm up and showered, and soon need to get dressed for church. The men are cooking breakfast beforehand. I know there will be eggs and fruit. I just need to stay away from the pancakes and bacon.

DH called last night, having safely arrived in Boston. He's headed for a big church downtown today - one with a huge pipe organ which he loves. Then he'll have Easter dinner with his sister and her family. He's staying with his niece until I get there Thurs night, then we'll be in a hotel. My FIL's funeral is Friday morning, but there's a lot to do with lawyers, cleaning out his apt, etc. My BIL is arriving on Tues I think.

So today's plan includes wrapping up the taxes - mostly double-checking. Also laundry, which I've started, and packing, also started. Tomorrow will be a busy day at work and then tomorrow night I'll finish packing, make a bed for the housesitter, and try to get to bed early as possible, as I have to leave by 5:30 a.m. - and I am soooo not a morning person. I'm picking up another gal at 6 and we travel to the conference together. I'm taking my laptop, and also my gym clothes! Gosh, with all that plus conference clothes and funeral clothes, I'll not be traveling light this trip!

Sorry to go on about me - I'm just a litttle stressed......

Hope all of you who celebrate have a very happy Easter, and the rest of you, a great Sunday!

PS - no candy here, which is one upside of DH gone.

Happy Birthday Easter Rabbit!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. For me...ugh...not a good food weekend. Shouldn't really be a surprise anymore. I saw 129.5 on Thursday morning but I know that's long gone. So, it will be my usual routine for a couple of days or so where I try to avoid the scale and reverse some of the damage. Same old, same old. One day I'll get it right.

I'm also thinking about tracking my calories for a week. It's been so long since I've done that. I did WW for so long, that I still count "points" in my head. And I'm pretty good at it but, since I've been trying to increase my protein, I think it would be smart to write everything down and see where I am right now. Maybe I'll surprise myslef, who knows? I'm not sure if I'll stick to it, but I'm going to try.

Pat - good luck with getting everything finished and have a safe trip.

Lily - I'm glad your feeling better and I hope you had a great time with your son.

Hi to everyone!
