Smile NSVs...what did you accomplish in August?

So I started a thread like this for July and it was really fun to see what everyone did...I think it's nice to focus on the positive at the end of the month when it's too late to do anything about the numbers you're posting for the month.

This week is vacation week at my gym and all the instructors have off. Normally I spin on Mondays, but since there wasn't class, I got home from work and was kind of at loose ends. I was feeling strong, so I was like, hey, I live at the bottom of a mountain, why don't I just get on my bike and see if I can get to the top. I didn't think I could do it in a million years (I don't even have proper clip-in shoes) and thought I might get maybe a third of the way up. Well, I got a third of the way up and just kept going...and going...and going...until all of a sudden I rounded a corner and saw cars parked in the Long Trail lot...I started shrieking Oh My God I made it!!!! It was the best high I've ever had. Coming down was scary though.

So yeah, today I biked the Middlebury Gap

How about you guys?

I also liked that thread!

Wow! Biking up a mountain is IMPRESSIVE! I wouldn't have ever even THOUGHT about doing that when I used to live on one! Congrats!

I turned 30 without a mental breakdown Got my first diamonds, and stayed on plan thru some really stressful busy times Oh - and I lost 13 pounds!

I started C25K (started at week 4) and realized that I can actually run outside! (And shhhhhh, I kinda like it!)

Managed to go 2 full weeks with no fast food and cooked each and every healthy meal that I ate!

Good job on the biking up the mountain!!

I got my own apartment for the first time, started law school, and discovered I have an actual work ethic (who knew?).

I also took advantage of all the end-of-summer sales and got an actual wardrobe (for the last few months I've been only getting one pair of jeans in my size since I knew my size would probably be changing again soon, and four or five shirts. I just did laundry a lot).

August was a good month.

I went out of town 3 weekends in a row where there was a lot of tempting food and controlled myself very well. I managed not to gain on these weekends and even lost a little a couple times.

forestroad- Vanity sizing has run amuck! I'll take a 6 if they want to give it to me, though. According to size charts, we fit into size 6 at J. Crew, Anthropologie, some urban outfitters, and Free People (maybe other stores, but I generally shop at these). Department stores generally run a little bit smaller. But for the brands that do run smaller, we're only out of 6s by 1 inch. Isn't that cool?

Kasmel- I looove anthropologie...and yeah, their stuff fit me when I was sized out of other stores. I don't think I've ever actually bought bottoms at J Crew, but I get a lot of tops there and have heard they run a little bigger. I wish I could afford to go shopping right now...I just went last month though and got a lot of 10s that are starting to get loose...but I still had to buy a pair of 12s at the Gap. Weird.
