I knew the Mossimo brand was old...it was popular when I was in Middle School I just never saw the jeans at Target before...and cute ULTRA low rise, not "mommy" jeans
So if this is a general fashion thread, can I ask a fashion question? I recently acquired a cute oatmeal-colored corduroy knee-length skirt, and I'm at a loss at what to wear with this, in terms of hosiery. It seems too heavy to go without any hosiery at all, nylons seem too dressy. Would dark tights look funny?
I shop anywhere and everywhere. Vintage stores, department stores, small boutiques in the area, and yes, even the occasional Target run, especially when they have a new collection of the Go International designer stuff. For shoes I usually stick with department stores because of the big selection, but recently I've been into Easy Spirit- I've found some great shoes there, and they have a pair of clogs now I'm dying to try on.
I usually dress pretty casual though- my office is casual so usually wear jeans, and a blouse, or a tee and a cute jacket. I love pretty feminine blouses with jeans, and I love vests! I'd really like to wear dresses all the time, because they're so easy, but it gets so cold in my office, I'm always freezing when I do!

This is how out of it I am. I have no idea what Mossimo is or what mommy jeans are.
So, out of curiosity, what are "mommy jeans?"

They're typically high-waisted jeans with an elastic waist band. My DH likes to say that they give even the most attractive/healthy women "front-butt" or what looks like a rear end in the front to match the one in the back. I don't know many moms that still wear them, so I call them "granny pants".
Anyways, I shop at a variety of places. I guess I dress in a somewhat "boring" way. I have lots of Gap tee shirts (long sleeve, short sleeve, scoop neck, etc) that I like to layer with a pair of corduroys or jeans. I get my pants pretty much from Old Navy and/or Wal-Mart because I find good plus-size stuff there that actually sort of fits me. I'm very much a tee shirt-jeans-sneakers kinda girl. I have about 10 different pairs of sneakers, though I wear my Converse Chuck Taylor's most often.
I guess in typical laid back college girl fashion I am most likely to be seen in: dark jeans, plain solid colored fitted teeshirts (V-neck or scoop neck) with the occasional band/political cause/sports team shirt thrown in, canvas "flats" or Chuch Taylor's for shoes.
For jewelry I wear little stud earrings pretty much every day. If I dress up, sometimes I'll wear a hoop or beaded dangle, wide cuff or bangle bracelets, and/or once in a while a large-beaded necklace. I have my nose pierced with a very small stud, too.
I always wear my hair down.
Overall I think my style is that kind of comfy/nontrendy/college kid look.
When I lose weight though, I definitely want to wear dressier stuff at least once in a while. I have one pair of pointy-toe heels that I don't have a lot of stuff to wear with because most of my clothes is casual.

I don't really follow fashion trends to a T..I tend to buy what looks best on me, not some 6' tall, 115 pound Amazon. It's hard being bigger and finding fashionable clothes that look good anyway, but I try. For instance, I love babydoll tops as long as they aren't too flared out..If they are too loose then you end up looking like a tent. I saw the skinniest girl with an ill-fitting babydoll top that made her look enormous. I just really like the empire waists. I wear alot of fitted button down shirts because I love the way they accent my shape. I usually like to couple my tops with a pair of dark wash jeans.
Brands don't really concern me much. I shop Goodwill, Old Navy, Target, JC Penney, anywhere with a good sale
If I had the choice, I LOVE Charlotte Russe. I go in there with my skinny friends and dream of the clothes I will be able to buy one day LOL. I am not big on Abercrombie or AE..But I like Hollister for some reason. Can't wait to shop there again
