Schatzi: Thanks for poppin' in! We miss you around here!

Yesterday was a nice day. Went out and had breakfast with DH and then ran some errands. The last errand was picking up my copy of HP;DH. I got home and started reading for 6 hours straight! I was surprised it only took that long to finish it! After dinner, we ended up sitting on the back porch having a few beers and just talking. That's my favorite thing to do.

I'm about to jump in the shower for church. After that, we're going to run home and eat lunch. I've got to clean up the house a bit, work on my Avon, do the bills, and iron some shirts for me and DH for next week. While I'm ironing, I'm going to watch Finding Neverland which I got from Netflix a few weeks ago and just haven't gotten around to watching. I'd also like to plan my menu for the next week and then make a grocery list, but that could wait until tomorrow.

Well, DH is out of the shower - better jump in before he has to shave! Have a great Sunday!

~Kim

Hello to Everyone,

I've just read the entire 2 day thread. I can't respond to all the personals or I would be writing a book, so I'll just say good luck to all of you who struggle and congratulations to all upon whom fate is smiling right now. And hey Potter fans! I live vicariously through your excitement, having only seen the movies but not read the books.

It was great to hear from you, Schatzi! Don't worry, your beach towel is still here, I've even laundered it for you!

Ruth, that's a shame about your modem. I hope you can get a good deal on a new one, the prices do seem to be coming down on them. Poor Lucy! I hope it's just a virus that some antibiotics can fix. Take care of yourself, too, and don't worry about us. We'll try to behave ourselves while you are away!

I'm so happy you're having a pleasant weekend, Kiko!
Try to enjoy yourself at the in-laws today! Kim, I'm feverishly trying to read all the books in the series so I can catch up before somebody spills how it ends! femme, I could use some of your willpower! I just know I would have caved for the homemade ice cream with praline sauce! Thanks for sharing the salad idea with us. It sounds really good, and I just happen to have a bushel of peaches on hand!
All the kids are coming for supper later today, so we're just going to through some burgers and veggies on the grill, and I'm going to make some coleslaw and macaroni salad. I guess I'd better get started on that right now, since they both need to sit a while before serving.
Enjoy this beautiful day!

Don't worry cottage, there will be no bean spilling from me! I'd just be sure to stay away from the HP discussion sites from now on. I can tell people are itching to talk about book 7 and are waiting until a majority of the posters are finished reading! Have a great day!

Kara - Yes, we are making the beads. Every graduate of Wood Badge who completes their ticket gets a black cord tied with a friendship knot and two wooden beads. Staff get three beads and the course director gets 4. This is the first time the troop guides (me) got to help make the beads. We started with a branch roughly cut into a rectangle. Then we turned it on a lathe to make a dowel. Then used saw to cut each dowel into pieces. Then used a sander to point the ends and drilled a hole in the middle. Then used a Drummel tool to scoop out a little round indent where the hole is drilled (both sides) and used a wood burner to burn the sharpened sides and used a file to make a slit in each end. Then they are sprayed and dried. We made 110 the first time but only 70 were good enough to use so we needed to make more. I have done every step in the build process except the drilling and the filing. It's a lot of fun and I wished I could have stayed longer and helped yesterday but I had to get to the water park.

The party was a blast! The package included individual cheese pizzas and drinks and I brought the alligator cupcake cake and a cooler of water and diet drinks. I should have brought many more drinks. We ended up buying water at the end and that is expensive. Most of the kids stayed for the movie at the wave pool last night. They showed Night at the Museum which I hadn't seen but all the kids had. It was fun but it didn't end until 11 pm. We had gotten to the park at noon so it made for a long day with a lot of offplan eating since I didn't pack food for me. I'm a bit sunburned on my back but not too painful. It was nice that the adults could just hang out and relax while the six boys stayed together and the two girls stayed together as they wandered the park.

Tonight is a party for our Twilight Camp staff and families from 5-7. It should be a lot of fun. I think if we get together quarterly with many of those who helped that it will be easier to get people to staff next year since they will all be friends. People are always willing to do more for those they have a heart connection with.

Just a quicky to say Good Morning Kara! and Good evening to the rest of ya!
It's a beautiful morning here. I slept in today which was nice. I'll get my walk in this afternoon.

A bizzare thing happened to me yesterday, I was bicycling along minding my own business when a big black crow attacked me, putting it's talions in my scalp!
It didn't break the skin too bad, but it was bizzare. Then I noticed a baby crow on the ground. I guess the mom was protecting her young.

Well I hope everyone had a good weekend! k
