Hello Everyone

AllyG47: Welcome, this thread is definitely still going strong. Congratulations on your loss so far! I find the support offered by this group to be incredibly helpful

Vladadog: I hope so! I’ve started it a few times before but never progressed past the first three weeks. I think I’m more determined this time though Shifting your focus for the month sounds like an incredibly smart plan. You’ve come so far already and adjusting your mindset to one that will allow you to continue and maintain when you meet your goal is a great idea.

SW: 280.5
GW: 268.5

7/1: 280.5
7/2: 279
7/3:280.4

I’ve found that I’m fluctuating a bit the last few days. I think part of it has been me struggling to avoid the night-time snacking being on a day schedule now. I think I’m going to try and do after dinner walks and no more snacks. On a positive note, my sleep pattern is improving as I get used to being on a “normal” schedule again. Also, hurray for vitamin D Hope everyone has a great day!

RunningRedHead - night time snacking is almost because of one of two things: habit or hormones. And the habit probably developed because of the hormones...

When we don't get enough sleep (which we almost never do, especially in our teens and early twenties when habits are formed...) our hormones makes us crave carbs and, to make it worse, no matter many carbs we eat, our hormones never let us feel satiated.

A good solution is to go to bed earlier so your body doesn't get those craving. But realistically most of us can't manage that.

Figure out a snack that will work for you and plan for that. I have different plans for nights I work vs nights I don't. It might take a few tries to figure out your sweet spot - but I've found just knowing it's leptin and gherlin messing with my mind has really helped me fight back.

Big juicy apples really work for me. A handful (we're talking 6-8) of lightly salted almonds. Or 4-6 very dark chocolate chips. (I keep an old prescription pill bottle in my bag with chocolate chips in it. Doesn't hold more than about 20 but if I'm really craving chocolate I always have some handy and knowing I can have the whole bottle somehow makes it easier to just have a few and save the rest for later. It's not like I'm really hungry after all...).

Those are things that have worked really well for me. They wouldn't work if I was really hungry but it's just hormones messing with me and I can mess right back with the best of them. You might find totally different things work for you - but SOMETHING will work. (Plus your going for a walk is a totally excellent idea too!!!!)

Vladadog: Thank you so much for the advice! I’ll try switching it up over the next few days to see how it works. I also think I may be in that stage heading toward shark week where I want to eat all the chocolate and carbs anyway, which is so not helping. Hormones makes the most sense and I love your dark chocolate idea (I love dark chocolate and clementines) and the pill bottle is a brilliant idea! I just picked up a bottle of [very low dose] melatonin to kind of aid in the going-to-bed-earlier aspect of things. I’ll give some of these ideas a shot and see how it goes Thanks again!

Just a quick check-in since I forgot to do everything yesterday! Hope everyone is doing well.

Weigh-in was 224.4 today, but we're having a birthday party for our youngest who just turned 3 today - complete with pizza and the cake - so, I am expecting a gain tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too bad, and I will focus on drinking some water today to mitigate some of the damage...wish me luck! Haha.

Hey Casey, before I forget again.... I might have missed this in the June thread since I'm not a daily reader on these threads.... but now that you're moved have you found a new doctor to talk over gallbladder stuff?

And has anyone heard from HowdyTX since, I dunno, May? when she posted about her heart attack like gallbladder problems?

Good Morning Everyone

Happy 4th of July!!! Hope you all have a great day without to much temptation at all the family outings and BBQs. We don't have to much planned today, our family did most of our celebrating over the weekend. My son really wants to go see Despicable Me 3 today so we might go do that.

I'm happy to see that I am still in the 250's today. I got to 259.8 yesterday but didn't want to get to excited as it is easy to bounce back into the 260's when you are that close. 259.2 today I have not been in the 250's in about 2013. I would love to push through the 250's this month and be in the 240's by Aug but if I don't get there that will be ok, as long as I keep moving in the right direction.

Have a great day everyone

Happy 4th of July! Just a quick check in from me. It looks like everyone is doing well. Keep up the good work. We have a pretty quiet day planned around here. Tonight we are celebrating my youngest son's birthday. He wants seafood pasta for dinner. I'll need to plan and count that towards my daily goals. Have a great day everyone. See you tomorrow.

Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate! And if not, happy Tuesday to all

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I seemed to have dropped some of my TOM water weight as I'm back down to 207.6. I was a full two pounds higher a few days ago. I don't have much planned today and that's perfect for me. A good friend is coming into town on Thursday and we'll go to San Francisco overnight and return on Friday. It's been a good vacation so far.

gulfmagnolia: The Beguiled was an interesting movie. I walked out asking more questions than I had answers for which is typical of me of movies and books. It was beautifully shot, as the Deep South's heat and humidity seemed to seep through the screen. I mistakenly thought that the movie was an original work of Sofia Coppola but it is based on a book that preceded it by 50 years, and a 1971 film adaptation starring Clint Eastwood.

suzukigirl: I completely understand your hesitation when you've just broken through to a new decade. on staying "in the zone."

opheliaphoenix and imthegoddess: Lots of July birthdays; my brother's was on the first. Happy Birthday to your precious little ones! I hope the celebrations are happy and the food is good. Small gains can be handled easily, but birthdays are only once a year!

Happy 4th of July to those celebrating Finally finished all the work for now in my garden and everything is planted (I’m a bit late this year). I ended up shoveling all of the dirt from the pile into the garden bed so I’m going to count that as a very large number of bicep curls and some other arm exercises. I’ve stayed on plan so far today and am planning for a cheeseburger (without a bun ) and a big colorful salad for dinner. Hope everyone has a great night

Congratulations on the weight drop. I love San Francisco. We lived in the east bay and we loved it. I had to laugh, my precious little one is 20. His birthday was Sunday, but he was on a trip with his dad so we celebrated tonight. We had seafood pasta in a white wine sauce with clams, lobster, and shrimp. I had a very small piece of cake. I entered the recipe in myfitnesspal, and counted it. I hope I did okay. Hubby and I were out at lunch time, and I had Asian lettuce wraps. I could not find the nutritional information online for the restaurant we went to, so I used one from somewhere else. I hope it wasn't too off.

Good Morning Everyone

Hope everyone had a safe and great 4th of July! This will be a quick one this morning... I have a busy, but fun day ahead of me. I will be back later tonight to read through everyone's posts. I did very well staying on plan yesterday. I have actually consciously bumped up my calorie intake a bit (while staying low carb) because I just don't think I was eating enough. Not because I was trying to eat so little but since all my cravings have gone away I just wasn't very hungry. I think this has helped as I have seen a little more movement on the scale over the past few days.

Have a great day everyone

Hello July! For me the month starts today, July 5th. My family issues continue and I gave myself a diet break for the extra long weekend. I celebrated Canada Day on Saturday and Independence Day yesterday and did not eat mindfully at all. The net result was a 4lb gain and I'm okay with it. As ever, I say onward and downward!!
