Tomorrow I go back to work which means I will walk alot more.
And I am cooking today to have my food ready for the first few days. I make steel cut oatmeal for breakfast and it is NOT quick. I cook a batch, measure into containers, reheat in the mornings.
I was only very recently introduced to steel cut oats. Here we have Red Mill brand. My father-in-law (age 90) calls it porridge and adds brown sugar to his. My husband calls it gruel (he's a hoot that one is) and puts sugar free maple syrup and raisins in his. I eat mine plain.
Well thank you all and love2b150 and akelly728 for being so friendly, warm and welcoming! I have seen other accountability threads that were excluding to new folks. Who has time for that?! I'm honored to be welcomed by such a positive group as you all!
pnkrckpixikat, my diet is similar to Nutrisystem and they advise using sea salt and also 1-2 tsp of olive oil a day to alleviate low carb side effects. My new favorite salad is romaine with olive oil and sea salt. The diet says that for headaches usually 1/3 tsp sea salt in 8 oz of water will alleviate a headache within 15 minutes.
I am going on a long weekend to San Diego in two weeks and already found myself playing head games yesterday thinking i could go off the diet on the trip. Hmmm...!
It's so inspiring to see everyone's commitment and the nice losses. We can do this!
I am down 7 lbs for the week, water I am sure. I'm hoping for one more large loss this week before I settle down into my normal 2-3 a week. I have been having trouble with my knees and they say I am bone on bone. I walk to work and with them bothering me I decided to purchase a bicycle to be able to stay active. Of course it's now supposed to snow this week but most winters in Ohio I can ride a good portion of the winter. I am also starting an accountability group at my church next week. Looking forward to the new year and getting to my goal.
imthegoodess I really miss VA. I use to spend a lot of time with a friend I went to school with in Newport News. Her husband was in the Navy at the time.
TOgden3 I lived in Pittsburgh for a few months, my former roommate lived in Penn Hills I don't miss the snow for sure or the snow we had in 2010 or 11 in VA.
Jill you will, I'm rooting for you
Molly I like to take bits and pieces from different plans tweak them to work for me
twish nice drop
pnkrckpixicat I'm proud and happy for your husband, he's a trooper that's great. You're a great wife and supporter. I believe the two of you will see nice, well deserved results at the end of this week. Keep up the great work I bought some broth for the same reason.
Howie I used to deliver newspapers after school in upstate NY when I was 11/12 years old. Just like the post man-rain snow sleet or hail. I always road my bike and took more than a few spills on ice. My hat's off to you.
typing on my new toy isn't a task I'm use to yet gotta learn how to use all of the functions on the mini key pad without losing anything
Molly, I like Red Mill brand items, pricey but good

dedicatedt you're quite welcome And as far as your trip goes, you will probably surprise yourself and not eat half of what you think you will. In the back of your mind no matter how much you want something you will also be weighing out the cost if it isn't worth it. The mind is tricky while on these journeys. I say think about enjoying yourself (of course) but don't worry if you come back with a sodium/water gain. You'll work it out when you get back
howie good job Sorry about your knees. Knee problems run in our family so I feel you. I like the accountability at church, sounds great. I'd like to be in a face to face accountability group. For now all I do is show pictures of me before, listen to the comments, take the compliments and hope that my journey thus far will encourage others to want to be healthier with me as I continue.
OK confession, today I really wanted something sweet. We had a little cake left from my sons birhtday on 12/31 and I ate a piece. Those that know me know that birthday cake with white icing has a grip on me. Thank goodness my other son finished it, but we'll have another one because our daughter will be 11 on Wednesday I'm gonna have to say no to this mouth of mine Ok bed time, good night
Dedicatedt - Lucky!! I am from San Diego and don't get to go back often enough. A good thing about SoCal is how it can so easily support a healthy lifestyle. No matter what type of plan you are on I am sure that you can find restaurants that will support it. Exercise-wise there are all sorts or options, renting a bike and biking on the boardwalk in any of the beach towns (or rollerblading if you are adventurous!), surfing lessons, running (or walking) on the boardwalk or sand, walking around Balboa Park, or even a day walking around the Zoo or Sea World can all be great.
Good morning! DH's head was a bit better last night, who knows what, of the many things I had him try, actually got rid of it but here is to hoping it stays gone! My intention is to do the elliptical today since the school gym is FINALLY back open (!), now I just need to get into the habit of using it I was supposed to be up at 7:30 to go at 8 to start getting in the habit before classes start next week but I forgot to set my alarm so I am going to go at 10:30 so I can go straight to work from the gym.
Love2b - a small slice won't kill you! just get back on track now, and make a plan for your daughter's birthday and stick to it! Maybe tell someone that will be there your plan to help you stay accountable. Can you send leftovers home with guests? Like a slice or two with each of her friends to take to their parents or siblings or something so leftovers aren't taunting you later?
W= Walking
E= Elliptical
S= Swimming
ST= Strength
B= Bike (machine or real)
pnkrckpixicat, glad to hear your husband is feeling better LOL about the pizza, it's the sodium that gets me with everything. And since I didn't go to bed like I was supposed to I only got about 5.5 hours of sleep, which didn't help either . About the cake ... we don't do parties, Mom of 5 here so there are enough of us to feed, cake typically doesn't last but the kids ate the other cake before my husband got his second piece so I bought another one and that one sat for 3 days which is a shock in here . They'll probably devour their sisters cake just because it's hers crazy boys. So with some will power I won't get any before I have to go to bed.
Rennie like others have said a small piece won't wreck you. I'm not sure what plan you follow but that is what I love about calorie counting. I can have that small piece and it's only around 300 calories. For myself I'm not a big fan of cutting out certain foods. If I want something I will usually have a little piece of it or on my treat night a larger piece. lol
Molly I used to deliver papers too. I remember one year getting an award because we had to deliver in -20 temps. Funny how that gets you an award in one state and can just be the norm in another like Alaska.
