I love it, I'm gone for 3 days and this thread is 6 pages long!!
Keep up the good work, I haven't weighed since I've been out of town and my parents have no scale. TOM is here and I am not looking forward to weighing tomorrow but I am gonna! I'm addicted.
I heard that weighing in daily is inaccurate because your weight fluctuates a lot and that it can be very discouraging... BUT I'm sure you all have heard that..
I'm not playing, just wanted to input. But goodluck everyone!

You're absolutely right. Which is why most of us use the daily weigh-ins to get an idea of how and WHY our weight fluctuates. It's more of a tool. Plus, recording it on a public forum gives other people who may or may not be daily weigh-in-ers a chance to see just how much our weight jumps back and forth.
This is merely a tool! But, after saying that, I sometimes tend to have my day dicated by the number the scale gives me in the morning. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

but you could say the same thing about weekly weigh ins too - that is still just a snapshot and you have no idea if that is a fluctuation above or below your "real" weight - you might have weighed 2 lbs less or 2 lbs more the day before, you have no way of knowing.
I'm not saying that someone who doesn't want the degree of information that daily weigh in gives you should weigh that often, it's a very personal decision. But it's certainly not any less accurate than weighing less often.

It's more discouraging for me to weigh in once a week or once a month. If I happen to have an "up" day on my once a week weigh in day, I will have no idea if I've really not lost/gained or if I'm just retaining water or something. Weighing everyday lets me see the (hopefully) downward trend and not get upset by one or two off weighings.
Coondocks--woohoo! I'm hoping you're in Onederland today!
Shylah--good luck on your weigh, today!
Alyssa--I've found that it's a lot easier for me to stop weighing for a prolonged time if I skip a weekly weigh-in than a daily weigh-in. It keeps me motivated and lets me see a general trend.
I guess I had a whooshlet today! down 0.8 to 219.8. I'm in the two-teens!
up 0.4 but that's not bad. Pushed myself at a fast uphill walk on the treadmill for 3 miles. My ankles are swollen along with a few muscles, so it could have been worse!
I was UP 1 pound this morning, thats what I get for waking up and getting on the scale without going to the washroom! But I promised I'd get on the scale, and am super time limited..
alyssa - I guess the thing about weight loss is that it's SO different for everyone - what works for one, doesn't necessarily work for another. Weighing once a week was EXTREMELY discouraging to me, but seeing the fluctuations, how and why they might happen helps me get a handle on this journey.
down .8 today even without getting in any formal exercise yesterday - or maybe because? Right now, my main focus is eating right, at least until I get this weight that I gained back off and then I'll push myself a bit more on the activity.
The last 2 days I have had losses of 1.2 and 0.6. Today I am at 171.8, I am really hoping this continues - I could be in a new decade by the end of the week.
