Angry Weigh in at Home 11/19-11/25

Well, I guess I will start the thread. I was down 1.2 this week which I was very happy about, but my bubble was broken at my Doctors when my cholesterial went up greatly. We both are hoping it was from the steroids for my back injury. I have to have them redone in Jan, but it was very upsetting. I was angry at first because it was lower when I was 20 pounds heavier, but I have to calm down and see if it was the steroids and then get mad ha ha. Well, I hope everyone had a good week and has a Happy Thanksgiving.

Fiona,

Don't let your cholesterol get you down, you are doing an amazing job and should be very proud of yourself! There are a lot of factors that can contribute to having a high cholesterol reading like what you ate the night before, did you fast the day of and like you said medications. Keep up all your hard work, you are almost half to your goal.

Fiona, 1.2 is great! You're doing a fantastic job!!

I lost 2 pounds this week, so I've lost a total of 50!! Yay!!

I'm a little scared because this is where it all fell apart when I lost weight on WW five years ago. I got to the 50-pound mark, went out for Indian food, and it all went downhill after that for some reason! I think part of it was that it was around the holidays, so you can imagine how scared I am about the holidays being here again at my 50-pound mark!!

I'm almost halfway to goal, though, and I refuse to stop!

Lisa way to go on 50 pounds. The way I am thinking about the holidays is each is just one day not the month of nov or dec and if you have more than you should on those days then okay so what and move on and get right back to what you have been doing . Keep going you are doing great 50 pounds yeah!!!

gg on the weight loss, just remember that weight does not dictate your cholesterial number. My dmil is about 100 lbs lighter than I am, but she has twice the cholesterial reading than I do and has to take meds for it, so eat healthy and excercise, that's about all you can do right now. GL on the weight loss.

Fiona (l&dnurse) - congratulations on the pounds gone! I agree with Katie and Tiger about the cholestrol and I know about it from experience. Your cholesterol is not just about your weight or what you eat. Mine is hereditary. As my doctor explained it to me, cholesterol comes from what you eat and what your liver produces. Just like my mom's, mine produces too much so I am on medication for it. I don't know if steroids affect it but keep doing what you're doing because no matter what happens to the cholesterol numbers, you're doing good things for your health by losing the weight.

Lisa - congratulations on that great loss and awesome total! I understand your feelings - I had always gotten to about 11 pounds and then started gaining it back. This time though, I had a little conversation with myself. I told myself that just because it happened before did NOT mean I would do it again - I know what I did last time (stopped measuring, journalling honestly, etc) and I knew NOT to do the same things again. I've gotten past that point and have kept losing. Right now I'm battling a tough spot with Thanksgiving being over (fun but very tiring day) and all the leftovers here but yesterday I decided to get back to journalling everything and feel a lot better today about being back in control. You can do it too! Think about all the things you've done that have helped you get to the 50 pounds lost mark (which is FABULOUS!) and have a conversation with yourself about the fact that all you've got to do is keep doing them!

Well, I managed to survive Thanksgiving at my house (I do it every 3 years) with 29 people here! The weather was horrendous but thankfully DH got a tent to cover the grills outside (the only place for 2 turkeys to cook), everyone made it here and back safely. I was able to feel more relaxed about it this year (a goal of mine) although I didn't sit down much at all. The really great thing was that I hadn't seen most of my family since I lost most of the weight and everyone said how great I looked. One of my cousin's kids (a 20 something) even said that I looked hot! Well, I have to say that that is better than food. I didn't count on Thanksgiving but didn't stuff, and really didn't have much time to graze on the over abundant food we had. Plus, I barely sat down so I figure I earned a couple of activity points just constantly moving. My back was pretty achy by the end of the evening but I've been recovering since (doing lots of stretching). I weighed in yesterday and even lost 0.4! We had a lot more leftovers than I had hoped but so far I haven't been doing too badly. I threw out the leftover of one pie and DH and I had a slice each of a really yummy one last night and threw out the rest. DH made a huge pot of vegetable soup into which we threw some of the leftover turkey. As for the stuffing (which is mine and is 1/2 the points of regular stuffing), we are having reasonable amounts of it.

I did a short yoga session this morning and think I might get out and take a walk later (the temp is supposed to reach 60 today) as well as do some of my PT core exercises.

Have a great Sunday!
Judy
