I hope you all had a good weekend. The weather here in Chicagoland was glorious, although that's supposed to change today. My weekend was ok. We didn't go out for my MIL's birthday as planned because John was stuck at work. John, Ana, and I ended up going out for Mexican food instead. Other than that, my weekend, food-wise, was ok. Not spectacular, but not that bad. My sneek peak at the scale was good, so I'm hopeful for a good weigh-in this Wednesday. And now I'm off to get some housework done and then a trip to Costco.
Carla - It sounds like our weekends were very similar program-wise - not great but OK. I should have used your mantra on Friday night - I snacked away because of nervousness about the test on Saturday! As for Ana, you'll see, with the early intervention, she will improve and start to catch up - don't worry - it does take time though. We had glorious weather over the weekend and while it's not supposed to be as warm this week, I don't think we're going to get any rain.
My weekend was OK. As I said, nerves had me snacking on Friday night and I guess I was tense in anticipation of the test because I woke up with a muscle spasm in my mid-back (which I haven't had since I started my new career!). The test wasn't bad at all - it seemed the easiest of the 3 I've taken so far. My back wasn't great so I didn't do any kind of exercise on Saturday after the test. I took it easy on Sunday too, just doing some gentle yoga. I worked on one of my school projects (the co-authoring of a book) sketching some of the pictures. I really wanted to start pruning roses but didn't want my back to get worse. We ended up not having ribs on Saturday. My parent's express bus from the city was late and I wasn't feeling great so Tony and I got Chinese. While I allowed myself some not so point friendly dishes, I also got chicken with black bean sauce (which is core). I had a good core day yesterday and was rewarded this morning with the best sneak peek I've seen in a few weeks. I'm determined to keep it going. I have a staff development class after work today (getting out at 6:00) so I'm just going to do some gentle yoga when I get home before dinner.
Hello Everyone, Had a rough couple of day's. My son had a very high fever. I stuck to my program all week, so I had done well. I wish you all the best for the week to come.
Alright, I'm still alive. Hopelessly busy, totally uninspired and eating like a poster child for morbid obesity. That's been me for the past few weeks. Anyway, I'm back again and trying to finish a whole day of eating well and getting in some exercise.
I was on vacation last week, and spent most of my spare time grazing my way through the cupboards and fridge. Luckily there wasn't too much there to graze on, and we won't talk about the half gallon of ice cream I polished off by myself in two days. I think I've been so overwhelmed at work that I couldn't cope with having nothing pressing to do - does that make sense?
Anyway, sorry not to have been around to lend support. I'll try to check in daily to stay a bit grounded. I shall go back and read about everyone's adventures from last week, and will be back tomorrow.
Hi Wild Honey - welcome. I'm not always this discombobulated.
My last weigh in at a WW meeting was March 9th, I weighed in at 264.4 (I also checked at home and my scale said the same w/o the .4)Yesterday, I weighed in at home, at 260! I know that my scale and the WW are the same, I tested them. Whoohoo! Goodluck to everyone else! ~Tina
HI.. I hope its ok if i post in here.
I started the WW at home..
Do you post every week your weight loss?
I have none yet. since its only day 2! but im excited i hope to post next monday!
(crossing fingers)
Mrs. Streams- I like that virtual model. Where did u get that?
Hi all, made it through the two day meeting which I thought I did well. Ate fruit and stayed away from the pastries (my downfall). I passed up cheesecake after I saw somewhere it averages 100 cals. per bite. Went to a bike show on Sat. didn't do bad, didn't do good. Used the rest of my flex points though. Sunday, doubled up on exercise and only missed one day while I was gone. Knew better than to get on the scale, but figured I'd better face the music. Sure enough, went up to 145! Doesn't help that I ended up with a bladder infection last night. So, I'm not only crabby, but disguisted with myself. I know, I'm back OP today and maybe things will taper off. No, the weight will come back off! (See, I'm positive!)
Mrs_Streams - you are my inspiration for the week!
Judy - I hope your back is feeling better. I'm glad to hear the test went well for you. I bet your glad it's over. Was that the last one? I'll try to keep the rain we've had all day today from heading your way. Your school project - the book - sounds cool.
Wild Honey - I'm sorry to hear your son has been sick. I hope he's feeling better. Yay for you for sticking with the program.
KAREN!!! - Sorry, for yelling. I'm just excited to see you! I'm glad you were able to take a vacation. Goodness knows, you needed one. And not being able to cope with having nothing pressing to do makes perfect sense to me. It describes the last three years for me. Unfortunately, a very thorough spring cleaning of my house as well as a general sprucing up has become pressing, but I'm still managing to ignore it. Hang in there.
Ameg - Welcome. Yep, we post our weigh-ins here.
Tina - Congratulations on a terrific loss!
Darl - Sounds like you handled the meeting well. Don't be disgusted with yourself. That gain was most likely water. Sorry to hear about your bladder infection. Those are never fun. Feel better soon.
I went out to lunch with my co-workers today and had Chinese food. Not the best thing to have the day before weigh-in. However, I drank a lot of water with lunch and have retained none of it, so hopefully it won't be a problem. I fell down on my journaling the latter half of the week, but tomorrow is a new week and a new determination.
Carla - thanks for the welcome back...ah, yes, spring cleaning. That could send me into another nose dive, but we'll cross that bridge in October Hope the Chinese food doesn't skew your weigh in. I forgot to weigh this morning and had breakfast already so I'll wait till tomorrow. Don't forget to journal.
Hi Mrs Streams - congratulations on your loss - that's great. And way to go on treadmilling too. I dusted mine off yesterday morning and went for a hike.
Welcome, Ameg!
Darl, sounds like you did well at the meeting...I always find those situations difficult.
I had a pretty good day yesterday. We're reorganizing our entire workplace, and every staff member is being interviewed for new positions. I sat through the first 11 of 140 panel interviews yesterday - we did 40 a couple of weeks ago too. My life for the next two weeks involves sitting in a stuffy room from 0800 till 1700 every day interviewing people. That aside, I ate well (except for a couple of cookies), did 2.5k on the treadmill yesterday morning, and did a short back and bicep workout after dinner. Better get myself off to the shower, plus I have three tails wagging around me looking for their breakfast.
Had a pretty good day yesterday. Wasn't able to turn down the cheesecake served at lunch today, but other than that, I ate well, drank gallons of water, took Mike and the dogs for a walk by the river after supper, and I generally feel like sanity is beginning to prevail
Wild Honey – I hope your son is feeling better. Good for you for sticking to your program.
Karen – It’s so good to hear from you again!! well, my dear friend, Carla and I had some rough weeks a few weeks back and while I’ve recovered somewhat (not quite still the poster child for mo) I still have a ways to go – so let’s get back there together! I know how stress can just knock you off program – that’s what happened to me last week and the week before. I really should check in daily too to help keep on track – I tend not to on the days I have night school. Hang in there, we’ll get back to losing soon! It sounds like you are doing better – especially doing 2.5K on the tm!! My workouts have not been great – I can’t wait to get my basement back together!
Tina – welcome and congratulations on a great loss!
Ameg – welcome, glad to have you! We post our results here but we differ on the days we do it.
Darlene – don’t be discouraged – its sounds like you did great all around. The scale can be really fickle. Plus, I always find that if I’m eating out, even if I’m OP, there is always a lot of salt and that affect my retention of water. I disagree about how you did – how you did comes from your actions not the scale – I think you did great! Please try not to beat yourself up.
Carla – Good for you for drinking lots of water. I’m going to have to do that today. I have leftover Chinese for lunch (chicken with black bean which is core and brown rice) and we are having (ff) hotdogs for dinner tonight. Glad to hear the positive note in your voice. Will the new week include some exercise?? ;-) The test I took was the last I need for the Elem Ed certification. I have one test to take for the Literacy certification but I not planning to take that one until the fall.
I’ve had a so-so week. I definitely snacked a little too much on Tues night and last night (after my late classes). I didn’t do any yoga on either night and I think that has something to do with it. Most of my snacks were core but some were not and some were right before bed. Note to self – cut that out. If I weighed in this morning, I’d be up two pounds, sigh. I’m going to try to cut that down so that when I get on the scale on Saturday, I don’t see more than a one pound gain. I’m dreading the doctor’s appointment. I know I’m going to get the lecture again. Oh well, not much I can do in a week. My back is so-so but I really feel like I need to do some aerobics today – I really miss it, so when I get home, I’m going to clear enough space in the basement to do a ½ hour step workout. I just feel like sweating will get me in the right frame of mind, program-wise. The other part of my strategy for trying to end the week on a good note is that I WILL NOT eat anything after 9:00 pm and any snacks will be strictly core. One good note was that the only thing I ate this morning at a shower for one of the teachers was fruit – of course, all the rest of the cr** is in the faculty room and I will have to look at it at lunchtime. I think I will take a walk around the field when the kids are out doing their warmup jog for gym. I recently got a pedometer to try to make sure I’m as active as I can be. I’ve heard people say you should try to get 10,000 steps in a day. The last two days (long ones with class), I’ve gotten to 18,000 and 19,000 steps – I hope to get to at least 15,000 today.
Have a great one!
Judy
WEll ladies.. im moving along..i peeked at the scale and i lost a few lbs already! whoo whoo..
The points thing is so far so good.and I upped my water.. Minium 8 glasses a day.. Sometimes more. and i cut out all soda!
whoo whoo..
MerryLegs- Not many of us can turn down cheese cake.. Lately i take whatever i get.. But i only eat half of it.. My 2 dogs come in Handy under the table LOL.
Grrr….this is the third time I’m trying to reply, having lost 2 before!
Ameg – good for you for cutting out the soda and upping the water intake!
I had a pretty good day yesterday. When I got home from work I did a ½ hour step workout after clearing a space in the still-a-mess basement. It felt really good and I’m tempted to do another one today but my knees would probably prefer something like power yoga! I was pretty good food wise too – I did have a 2 pt WW ice bream sandwich but the rest was core and I stopped 2 hours before bedtime. Of course, after leftover Chinese chicken with black bean sauce (core) for lunch and ff hotdogs for dinner, my rings are really tight and my sneak peek was not very good. I guzzled water yesterday and will be doing the same thing today. Hopefully my weigh in tomorrow won’t be too bad. In any case, I’ve promised myself I’m weighing in no matter what.
The only challenge I have this weekend is that Tony and I are going out for a late dinner with my friend and her mom to one of our favorite Italian restaurants. They have a great sea bass dish though so I just have to watch the bread and drinks. The rest of the weekend is all school work but it’s supposed to be sunny and warm up to around 70 by Sunday so at least I can do some of it outside.
I’m going to try to check in over the weekend to help me stay on track.
Have a great one!
Judy
Well, I stepped on the scale and I gained 2 pounds - not that I didn't know it or deserve it. The good thing was that my leader was there and saw the disgust on my face - and we decided that had I not come back to weigh in and had given up totally on trying, I'd have gained the 5 pounds that I still have lost thus far. We also talked about core/points and eating out and I decided to do cre this week - for real. Tony and I had a great time last night with my friend and her mom. I did fine at the restaurant too - I used 8 weekly points - it would have been more but Tony and I went out in the afternoon and played a little tennis - well, we hit some balls for 20 minutes - phew, it's been a long time since I did that and I felt it!
I started the thematic unit yesterday and need to get back to that today. It's going to be a gorgeous day here (sunny and 70) and if I can get one or two more lesson plans done, I want to take a walk and prune some roses.
