Okay, even though this is new to me. I'm going to write what I think I should and then we'll go from there. Actually behaved again this week. Made beef brisket, two kinds of pies, an angelfood, scalloped tators and corn for the Easter evening meal. Did pretty well with my portions and then splurged with a piece of pie. Went over by 2 pts. phew! I have maintained the exercise for three weeks now consistently. Now, I did not weigh this morning just because of the pie and guilt thing. I tend to go by my tight clothes anyway. Sometimes I wonder though why I seem to sabotage myself after a few weeks of being good. I have found no matter how I think I don't have time to keep track of my points I just have to be diligent with it. Too many things slip by and they add up. My other observation is that I find I actually do better keeping on my plan at home than at work. I use stress as a crutch for eating. Okay, enough of the excuses. I WILL keep up the exercise and I will prevail this week! Hope everyone else is does well this week too. It is really about us and we deserve the end result - being healthy! Good week to you all..... Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Judy, happy birthday to you! And many more!

Judy - I hope you're having a great birthday. How was the South American chicken yesterday? I'm guessing that fried plantains are the side dish you were referring to. They are so good, especially with a bit of a rum sauce. And chocolate cake. It doesn't get better than that. Good for you for getting to your meeting. And it sounds like you did really well with the pizza. I love mysteries too. I'm a few behind in the Alex Cross series. Maybe that can be my motivation to exercise. After so many minutes, or sessions, or whatever - a trip to the library for an Alex Cross mystery. It will make a nice change from the non-fiction I've been reading lately. Yeah, I think I will set a goal for April onward for exercise. I'll mull it over and report back to you with a number.

Dar - What a feast you made for Easter! And you only went over by 2 points! Tremendous job. I always find ways to sabatoge myself as well. If I can crack why I do that, then I think this weight would just fall off. Journalling is so key, at least to me. Do you do a paper-based journal or an on-line one?

Karen - Hi!

Easter was Easter. A bit too many appetizers, a bit too much wine. Portions were decent and, with the exception of the mac and cheese, I stuck to one serving. Of course, ham beting salty and all, my ring was way tight this morning. I really have to re-commit and stop this nonsense (for like the one millioneth time). I'm going to try to eat reasonable today and tomorrow and then, starting Wednesday, I'm going to journal faithfully. Even if I have a bad day. And get in all my water.

Talk to you all later.

Carla

Thank you for the birthday wishes!!!

I'm going to make this short because I am exhausted. My mom and I baked hamentashen this morning (and I only took a few home for Tony and I - much less than in years past) and when I came home I did a little school work (finished up a poster board) and was looking forward to doing some yoga and relaxing for the rest of the evening. It's been pouring here all day and lo and behold, when I got downstairs there was a flood. Tony and I cleaned it up but we got another period of downpours and we just finished mopping up a second time. My back is killing me. I did have a few snacks in between floods but I've counted them. I ate a lot last night at my mom's (yes, it was fried plaintains that my mom called maduros (sp??) but I counted everything. My sneak peek was not good this morning but my rings were very tight and I know the meal was very flavored (and yummy!)

So, what a birthday. Oh, and I have to take the day off work tomorrow because my uncle in Floriday (who was close to 90) passed away over the weekend and the funeral is tomorrow. I decided to take off from class at night too I just feel the need to relax after the funeral. After all the mopping up tonight, my back is quite sore and I might just stop by the chiropractor and do some yoga afterwards too. I haven't missed these classes before and I just emailed the profs.

So, what a birthday, huh? I'm going to get another mug of water and guzzle it down to try to wash out the salty snacks I had in between floods. Sorry for all the venting.

Have a great one!
Judy

Did someone say rum sauce??? Could have used it after a Monday at work!

Carla, when you have the mysteries of dieting figured out...please let me know. I journal all my eating on fitday online. I just keep track of the actual points in a little spiral size notepad. It's a little work, but I like to keep up with what portions of fat vs. proteins, etc. I'm consuming.

Judy, sounds like you had a great b-day! (right.) Hopefully you can look at it that you burned lots of calories cleaning up? Okay, I was trying to look at a bright side of your day.

Today is a new day...hope it's a good one

Dar - I appreciate your looking at the bright side of my Monday! I did end up counting it as a workout - my back and arms were certainly sore on Monday.

The week was made a little more challenging with the surprise birthday party the kids threw for me on Wednesday (they had it all planned for Tuesday but then I had the funeral to attend!) but it was well worth the extra challenge. They were so adorable - the posters and cards they made just melted my heart! I've had a so-so week. I've been counting points this week and it's worked out OK so far. I find that I don't detest the counting and weighing as I did before last summer. I guess the time on core gave me a good break. Being reasonably accurate about what I've eaten this week, I don't have any weekly points left so I really have to tow the line today. My sneak peek was awful this morning but my rings were tight and I think TOM might be starting (although I thought it was starting a few days ago and I got fooled). I *will* weigh in tomorrow (next Sat am I have another NY State Ed certification test so I won't be able to go). I'll be happy if the gain is less than 3 pounds. Sigh, I seem to be back to around where I was at the beginning of the year (after the holidays). Oh well, nothing to do but buckle up and get moving in a downward direction.

My workouts are pretty much limited to yoga until sometime next week (given the basement situation and it's supposed to rain heavily again tomorrow!) when we are having two dry wells put in, one in the back and one in the front of the house. I did a pretty tough yoga workout yesterday - it's called Yoga for Strength and I really feel it today. This weekend should present only a minor challenge. We're having a friend over for dinner tomorrow - it should be raining too hard to do any grilling but one of the entrees will be chicken (the other sausage) and I'm making a 3 bean salad and should be able to cut down the amount of oil in the recipe to make it point friendly. I haven't decided if I'm going to do points or core next week. I guess I'll decide tomorrow.

Hope to hear from you before the weekend - if not, have a great one!
Judy
