Patience - I know a maintain is frustrating, but they happen. Just stay on program and the scale will catch up to you.
All the parties are done, thank goodness, and now I just have to finish up regular Christmas things like cards and shopping. That will get done, no problem. And my house is nice and clean, so I can relax about that. The party went well. We had a kind of South American theme to the food and John spent three days cooking up a storm He made saltenas (the Bolivian version of empanadas), turkey in mole sauce, and a shrimp dish made with lots of chopped up stuff and coconut milk. My big contribution: ham, spoon bread (also served in South America, where it's called humintas) and green beans. I so got worried and stressed over nothing and I'm so glad it's over. My sneek peaks have been good. I don't think I mentioned last week I had a slight gain, most likely PMS related. If I can hold on, I should have a good weigh-in this week.
Carla - I'm glad everything went well - yumm - everything sounds so good as well interesting. I understand what you mean about getting stressed for nothing - I do that all the time!
This will be a short post. The studying went OK - not as much as I could have but I made good study cards and I've been looking at the ones for tonight all day. My weigh in wa good - I lost over a pound - I think 1.2 so I just have 0.6 left to lose what I gained a few weeks ago. I didn't do so well this weekend, either at my mom's or last night. I have to watch myself for the next few weeks - the WW center is closed for the next 2 weeks and I have to be sure I don't use that as an excuse. I'm trying to stay core today through Thurs and just be reasonable on Friday evening and Saturday. I still have a lot of wrapping to do and hope other gifts we ordered online come in time. The wrapping will have to wait until Friday morning!
Carla - So glad the party went well. I knew it would. Enjoy your clean house!
Judy - Congratulations on your loss. Good luck with studying - when's the exam?
Been crazy busy for the past few days. Food has been good except for an entire layer of a box of chocolates this morning One of the old ladies gave them to me and before I realized it, I'd eaten half the box. Whatever! Our gym is set up and we've just finished an upper body workout. My arms, chest and shoulders are tired and heavy. I took the dogs out for a pre-dawn jaunt by the river this morning, so I'm okay for exercise. Jen will be home Wednesday. Most of the shopping is done, and I've even done some wrapping.
Karen - I'm sure it will be great to have Jen home today. That's fabulous about the home gym. I've been doing workouts (until this week, anyway) that have had more weight work and I really see a nice difference. Sorry about those chocolates - I've slipped a bit myself.
As I said to Tony last night on the way home from my second and last final "I'm free for 3 weeks!" I think I did just fine on each of them but the stress of them certainly affected my snacking both on healthy stuff and not so healthy stuff. Still, I'm not stressing about snacking but I'm just trying to tell myself that today is a new (more relaxing) day and after today (more on that in a bit), at least I'll be able to get in some good workouts. I got to work at 8 this morning (extra $ covering a prep course) and will be here until at least 8 tonight (extra $ helping chaperone the 4th grade hoe down sp??) Hey, the extra money sure comes in handy. Of course, that means no exercise this morning (I could NOT get up before 6) and I'll be eating out at a diner. Still, it will be nice to to (try to) have a light dinner with a good book in hand!
Time to go - the prep session is almost over. Later,
Judy
Judy - Yay!!! for your finals being over and you being free for three weeks. Enjoy your free time. And another Yay!! for a great loss for you. Sounds like a long day for you today. I hope you enjoy your dinner and your book!
Karen - How great that your gym is set up and you're using it. You are going to be so toned. How long will Jen be at home? As for the layer of chocolates - sounds like you're working it off.
I'm posting a .08 loss (from when I last weighed two weeks ago). It's a Christmas miracle, that's for sure, since my eating has been less than stellar. Though I suppose that snacks here and there aren't as damaging when that's all you're eating. I haven't sat down to a full meal in I don't know when. Well the last minute crunch for getting everything done is on full blast and I must run. I'll be so glad when this holiday is over. Next year is going to be different - I swear it.
Judy, so glad to hear that you've got free time on your hands for a few weeks. It'll be good for you. Congrats on your great loss!
Carla, congratulations on your loss! Heading in the right direction. I hear you re snacking. I've had a couple of grazing days this week.
Time to get to work. I swear next year I'll save some vacation time for Christmas. It's nuts trying to get everything done while working full days up to and including Christmas eve! Grocery shopping is on the agenda for after work. Mike is off tomorrow and has offered to do the cleaning, bless him!
I wish you all a wonderful Christmas, and precious moments with those you love. Will talk with you again next week.
Carla – congratulations on that loss!!! That’s quite a feat this time of year although I’m sorry you haven’t been able to sit down for a meal! While I’m looking forward to tomorrow and Saturday, I’ll be glad when the holidays are over – and I can’t wait to get to the beach on Sunday. It’s looking like the weather will be cold but sunny – perfect for relaxing walks on the beach!
Karen – I’m sorry you have to work tomorrow night. I know what you mean about it being crazy – when I get home tonight I HAVE to start cleaning the house – at least the obvious stuff – before tomorrow. Of course, in my new career I’ll usually be working right up to Christmas Eve but the holidays in school are so funny – the kids are so cute and so sweet!
Well, I can’t say I’ve stopped the slide – this place is a food minefield but I am going to go home and get a good workout in before I start cleaning. I plan on doing the same workout wise tomorrow morning and then try to just eat reasonably for the next two days. I won’t have internet access when we go to the beach on Sunday so if I don’t get back on before then, have a Merry Christmas my dear friends!
Karen - I know what you mean about working the week before Christmas. I always took the week between Christmas and New Year's Day off, but the week before Christmas I was always kicking myself. Thank goodness I worked in the city, in the downtown area, so picking up last minute presents on my lunch hour was doable. Painful (I hate crowds) but doable. I always swear next year it's going to be different, yet it never is. Bless Mike's heart for doing the cleaning. John really helped me out with that last week.
Judy - It's not that I couldn't sit down and have a meal. It's just with all the leftovers I'd taste a bit of this and then a bit of that and never was really hungry enough to sit down and eat a meal. I'll be glad when the holidays are over too - I'm so looking forward to next week when I have nowhere to be, nothing to buy, and nothing to do. The beach sounds heavenly. How long will you be there? Is your school still in session this week? The schools here are off this week and next.
Well, ladies, I've seen **** and it's the local grocery store. I had to run in there today because my BIL called yesterday and asked me to bring a ham to dinner tomorrow. My goodness, it was crazy. I have just a couple more presents to buy, then I'm done. At least I won't be shopping on Christmas Eve day - which I have indeed done in the past. I'm just thankful that we didn't get the snow that downstate Illinois and Indiana got. And now my wishes for a Christmas filled with blessings for you, my dear friends.
