Today I'm delighted to report a maintain. After the week I had last week I was sure I was going to see a gain. Now I just have to work hard to make sure last week doesn't catch up to me. I'll have a few challenges: business lunches plus Easter, but I'll just try my best.
Hi! I don't have a weight to report yet, and it doesn't look like I'll be making my meeting tomorrow. It is early registration tomorrow afternoon for Kindergarten :-Z AHHHHH -- I'm not ready for this change! Actually, we are going to register Josh, but we may change our minds and withdraw by August. He is just turning 5 on 5/14, and I just don't know if he is ready to start this year.
I think I will put on my "weigh-in clothes," and do an at-home weigh in tomorrow at usual time. I hung in there this week, but went about 3-4 pts over limit on Friday night, and then didn't count or journal Sat at all (after a few beers on the deck in the beautiful weather, WW seems like a foreign concept ;-) ). Right back on track for Sun, though, and did a lot of yard work for exercise.
I'm still having a lot of trouble staying focused on following the plan to the letter. However, I do notice that when I'm not 100% OP -- like over the weekend -- I'm still being thoughtful of portions, and not binging :-) Before, when I'd go off the program, I'd be in bed with a carton of ice cream! Beer and wine are problems for me and staying OP. Especially as the weather improves, it is nice to have a drink on the deck. However, the pts are killer if you are going to have more than 1 or 2 drinks. OK, I'll stop now as I fear I'm sounding like an alcoholic!
Have a great week - I'll post weigh-in tomorrow! Holly
Carla - Yahoo on the maintain! I know you can make this an OP week. Do you know where the business lunches will be? I think the key for this week is plan, plan, plan!
I am reporting a maintain this week - I'm not thrilled because I really pulled out of my deficit last week but I did get TOM so as the woman who weighed me said, I'd be seeing a loss otherwise.
The weekend was a nice one - so-so program wise. Most of the food at the seder at my Mom's was pretty good OP-wise. I planned on not counting points and I did OK until I got home. The Passover cake I made was yummy - everyone really liked it. I also made the caramel chocolate matzoh crunch that was incredibly good - and that's what caused me a problem over the weekend. Let's say that I had way too much Sat night and yesterday. I didn't really figure out exactly how much each piece is point wise (all the pieces are different sizes anyway) so I just figured I went over points by 8 or so yesterday (when my new week begins). There isn't much of it left and I put it into the refrigerator downstairs so I won't see it.
I went for a run/walk at lunch - it is 70 and sunny and is jut beautiful out. I knocked off about 4 points with the run and plan on doing a little rose pruning after work followed by a little yoga so I'm getting the week back on track.
Hi I hope you dont mind me butting in here.
I came upon this WW at home board a couple of weeks ago and only realised 2 days ago there is more of us here than i fist noticed
I checked in at the "starting over" thread.
I am enjoying getting to know everyone there, this seems like a wonderful place to be.
Not heaps of us though just a friendly bunch.
I have started a BIO'S tread and hope that you will come and share there, or just get to know me anyway as I plan to be around awhile. Im very determined to get to my goal, as we all are Im sure.
Judy - Thanks so much for the great suggestions/reminders last week on things to have for eating on the run. I do need food for these rushed times. Made a turkey yesterday and am freezing portions to be ready for sandwiches or a quick meal. Also, stopped by Trader Joe's and bought Kashi, Go Lean crunch cereal and had for a snack, yesterday. Yum!!
Carla - Great news on the maintain. I bet you can handle those challenges this week. Anyone who can eat just 2 M & M cookies shows great control.
Pat - Oooh, went through that car accident/repair stuff a couple of months ago. Frustrating!! The auto repair place did such a good job that I didn't recognize the car!! They had the car for a week and a half. Our insurance did provide a rental for us while repairs were taking place. You seem to reporting that you're getting out for walks more and more. Good job!!
Welcome, Jenny!! Yes, this is a small group, but very caring and supportive. Will read your bio when I'm done posting. How's your week going plan wise?
Well, thinking about you folks made me loose my appetite this weekend. He! He! Actually I did a good job controlling snacking and meals. A sneak peek still shows a maintain, but going to hit the water today and see if something can happen by weigh-in. Stopped by a sale and bought a cute pair of Spring pants which were a size smaller. Probably just do the style, but it sure felt good and they are cute!
Our kitchen remodel is almost done and was able to move stuff back to the kitchen!! Gave me the chance to really look at all the food and throw away some "no-no's".
It looks like everyone came through the weekend without too much damage being done. I had weigh-in last night and am down 3.2 lbs. Things have been going pretty well. It's warming up, so we are able to walk a little. The pups enjoy this, and I'm starting to. Although they want to go farther than I'm able to at this point.
Have a Terrific Tuesday!
Hi Jenny - work is a little crazy so I hope I can check out the bio thread soon. Welcome!
Jan - Way to go on getting those pants in a smaller size ! Great idea on freezing portions of turkey. I hope the suggestions help. Glad to hear that the remodel is almost done. Good luck on your weigh-in.
Lois - TOM is "that time of month" - that is to say, your period. I don't know why we use it - it's sort of silly when you think about it. You got the numbers right - that's exactly what they stand for. Good luck with the pie!
Doxie - congratulations! What a great result! I'm glad to hear that you are walking and starting to enjoy it.
I'm very rushed today - work's been a little crazy. I exercised a whole bunch and was doing well on whittling down my deficit until about 11:00 and then I dove into the chocolate covered jellies (which I never have around the house except at Passover). The short of it is I still have the same deficit but today is a much lower point dinner day so I hope to make some progress on getting rid of it today. Exercise today will probably be a yoga tape - I need the stress relief.
Gee, it sure is quiet around here today. I had a pretty good day yesterday, all things considered. It was very stressful at work - a colleague is on vacation and they have started the people selection process (people are being interviewed at this point). (I have an interview with the person who may be my new boss in about an hour). Anyway, when I got home I was totally stressed. I did a short yoga tape and felt more relaxed afterwards but when I got upstairs, one of the cats had gotten sick all over the bedroom and while I was cleaning it up, I just lost it. I guess there's been a lot of pent up anxiety about the whole work situation and it got to me. Well, tears make for a good stress reliever & Tony was great (as was my sister who I spoke with later in the evening). The funny thing was, I really didn't feel the need to snack my way through it. I was a little tempted later in the evening but managed to ignore the voice inside my head. Mostly, I felt tired and drained. I went to bed earlier than usual and ended up halving my deficit - with the yoga and coming under my food points max by 3 points. The sneak peek was very kind this morning. I'm determined to make sure I see that on Saturday's weigh in. Well, I'd better get going.
Judy - Great job!! All that job stress, then the hassle of cleaning up after the kitty and ignoring the voice in your head and you didn't snack!! Way to go, New York!!!! I am so impressed and that inspires me that if you can do it, so can the rest of us. I think the key was that you talked out your stress with Tony and your sister and you were tired and went to bed. It makes me wonder if that is what is lacking in society today that we are not talking as much, but using computers, watching TV, etc. and snacking. Also, you listened to your body and did what your body wanted and didn't turn to food.
Doxie - What a great loss and yes it helps with the warmer weather to be getting out. I have spent a half hour after work in the garden on top of my walking. Feels great!
Welcome, Lois!! Glad to have you asking questions to learn the lingo of this group. I did some head scratching at the beginning about some of the lingo. There is still one I see once in a while that I haven't figured out. I know that feeling of being stuck!! In fact, I have had the same weight for quite a few weeks and can't seem to get below this point. Let's work together and get past this barrior!!
Well a maintain again, but a good one. Not a surprise or thankful to have it. Things feel a tad looser, so if I can get through Easter somehow - things will be fine. Having 12 over for dinner and it's my side of the family which means they will be there all day. It's fun we walk, visit and eat. Hopefully, the kitchen will be done tomorrow and I can finish up in there. I just would like to clean up the dust. We'll see how it goes. All these projects help keep me away from the food.
Think of the group before you eat that extra stuff this weekend - Jan
JAN I had all the family at xmas and it does make it harder than eating out, for me anyway. I have to watch the nibbling while Im preparing and the leftovers can be worse than the actual meal itsef., especially if you tend to be a sneaky eater like me.
So what do we have planned to stay on track and not be dissapointed in ourselves after the weekend?
I planned on saving some points but havnt managed to as Ive just got back into it Im finding eating my 20 points is little enough as it is.
I'll have to fit a couple of chocolate yummies in there somehow I'll just have to know when to stop
DOXIE wow a 3 lb loss , fantastic!! What sort of pup do you have ? I have Golden Retrievers, my most wonderful mates
How about checking out and posting on the bio thread you people so we can all get together more
Ok well I better get on with my day
Jenny
Carla - Congratulations on a maintain after a rough week.
Holly - Don't worry about not following the program 100% - just do the best you can. Does Josh go to preschool now? I know when my kids were little the preschool did some screening near the end of the year to help parents decide if their child was ready for kindergarten.
Judy - The woman that weighed you is right...a maintain at TOM means you really had a loss. Good job getting out of the deficit last week. Sorry about all the stress you are under. Sometimes a good cry is what we need. How did the interview go?
Jenny - Welcome to the at home board. Stick with the program and you will get to goal. I'll try to get to the bio thread later this week. I've been off the computer several days because of thunderstorms during my usual computer time.
Jan - Good job doing some planning for those meals on the run. Congratulations on the smaller size pants. We are going to take the car in Monday and hopefully it will be done by the end of the week. We don't plan on getting a rental unless it takes longer than expected. Darrell will only have to work one of those nights so I think we can get by. Congratulations on the maintain and looser clothes.
Lois - Hope someone else gets that pie out of the house soon. I know what you mean about getting stuck at a certain weight and then quitting. I've done it many times. This time I finally decided that I would not quit trying no matter how long it took.
Doxie - Congratulations on a great loss.
Wow, its hard to catch up after missing a few days. Those spring storms are here. I am happy to report that I had a 2 lb loss this week. I also took a walk on Mon and Tues. I've had some trouble with snacking this week, but just realized it is PMS time so I'm sure that's why.
Jan – Congratulations on the maintain especially with things so hectic! I have a feeling you’ll do great on Easter – I find that when I have a lot of people over, I’m so busy I never eat much. Just be careful about the leftovers – that’s what usually get me. Give ‘em away or freeze ‘em! Thanks so much. I think you are right about talking it out. I felt so much better afterwards and I felt good yesterday having had a good night’s sleep!
Jenny – I like the saying after your name! I’ll get over to the bio thread sometime over the weekend. Things have been a bit hectic at work. This weekend will be a bit of a challenge. Passover eating has been going OK so far. I start a “new” WW week on Sunday so I won’t have any points banked but I plan on exercising in the morning, trying to eat moderately at Easter dinner at my sil’s, counting the points, and letting myself run up a deficit – but not more than 10 points.
Pat – Congratulations on those 2 pounds gone forever!! And way to go on getting out for walks. Give that PMS snacking monster a kick in the pants and out of the house!
Carla - I hope all is well!
The interview actually went really well – although it’s not official yet, based on the conversation I had with Mike (who will be my new boss) I have a position and won’t be offered a package. He needs me for the system I’ve been integrating and for my Notes skills. His group has taken Notes further than we have so I think I can broaden my skills. I told him what I was looking to do (some Web stuff) and he seemed amenable. He made a point of telling me that based on my level of responsibility on the system I’ve been integrating and my title, he wants me to report to him and collaborate with another VP who is in charge of a team of developers. It turns out that this other VP works 3 days a week so Mike was cool about my telecommuting 2 days a week. Also, he and I got along well – it was a comfortable conversation so I felt pretty good afterwards. I figure that it almost will be like working at a new company – new boss, new colleagues and if I don’t like it, I can look for another job while picking up some additional skills.
I’m taking tomorrow off. Tony and I have some errands to run but it should make the whole weekend more relaxing. I’m looking forward to Sunday because we will see Krista (my step daughter) and our grandson. One good thing is that my sil asked me to make the “lightened” version of this corn pudding recipe (she gave me the recipe and it was a points nightmare – I lightened it up quite a bit and my fil and Tony said they like my version better!). She’s making a ham, not terrible points wise just a big one for water retention.
Have a great Think Thin Thursday and if I don’t get back on have a wonderful Easter,
Judy
This week is not going as good as the last two (sneak peeks), but I guess that is to be expected. A little loss would be nice. I foolishly have my weigh-in on Mondays, which doesn't work too well with holiday weekends.
Well, we'll all keep plugging away.
It has been so stormy here all week, gray and gloomy. Yuck!!!!
Enough whining.....
BEE - We have a dachshund (2 yrs. old) and a huskie (1 1/2). They OWN us, and it seems our life revolves around them. Our children thought we would be lonesome after they moved away, so they bought them for us. Actually, they bought the doxie and we "inherited" the husky when our daughter moved into an apartment. They do keep us active and entertained. They both still have a lot of puppy in them
CARLA - It's great that you were able to maintain after all you've been through.
JUDY - Good luck with all your interviews. Our daughter is going through something similar and I know how stressful it can be.
JAN - Someone was talking here about kashi snack bars (don't know if you buy them or make them) but they sure sound yummy. I've been sucking on sugar-free hard candy lately. It seems to dull the cravings.
JENNY - Welcome! You'll love it here
HOLLY - Good luck with the pie in the house. I know I wouldn't be able to keep out of it. My DH brought home a box of raspberry, chocolate covered ice cream bars the other night - they are gone already and there's only the two of us.
I have to teach an inservice at work this afternoon, so I'd better get going. Have a terrific Thursday!
