new here and have a question

  • Hello everyone! I am new here. I was wondering if all of you are doing the 123 plan or the winning points? Which is better? I personally will be doing the 123 plan at home starting tomorrow. I have seen this plan work for people and figured it is time to get myself to a healthy weight. I have about 85 pounds to lose but God willing I will succeed. Any replies would be appeciated. Thanks.
  • Emmy, it is hard to say that one program is better than another. It is really a matter of which is tuned to your way of thinking.

The points system works for me because all food is possible and I do not have to use prepackaged or different food from my family. It is based on portion control and better choices.

There are lots of threads here from late last year which outline the two programs which may have information for you.

Some of us are taking the best of both programs and making them just right for us.

    Welcome to at home.

  • WELCOME!!!
Emmy, Welcome to WW at Home!
Some of us here started with the 123 plan and stayed with it even when the Winning Points program came out because it was still working for them. Others were not having the results that they wanted, and so they incorporated the Winng Points into their program. They are basically the same programs, as far as points for each food item. Some changes included the amount of fiber that could be counted, the points ranges changed by 2 less points each, etc.
Still others are trying to eat less carbs and more protein yet still stay within the points program.
So, as you can see, you can adjust the basic program to suit your needs at the time.
I'm sure you will find tons of info on the board and of course the friendship and support of so many people.
    Good luck on your journey.

  • Thanks for the welcome
Thanks for the welcome! I really appreciate that. I have a question. If I already know the point value of something is there a way to add it to my points for the day on my points calculator or do i have to compute the calories, fat and fiber in order to get it on the calclator. I hope you understand what I just asked because I think I confuse myself. Anyway thanks for the welcome and yes agree everyone needs to make this plan to suit them. Have a great day!
  • Emmy, I can't help you there because I don't have a points calculator. I just keep track of my food choices, points, water, exercise, etc in a composition book that I use as my journal. I use the points finder (slide-rule) and Dotti's calculator to figur out my points.

  • I got it.
I think I figured out the calculator. I am doing good. I just need to get more water in. Water is not my favorite thing but I know my body needs it. Anway, I hope everyone is doing well today.
