Hi all.

Judy - I feel your pain. We tuned in and out of the game on Saturday and when it seemed inevitable that Florida was going to take it, I made John turn off the T.V. I did NOT want to see the fish celebrating.

My weekend was less than stellar. It started on Friday when I ended up going to lunch at a mexican restaurant with an old friend who happened to be in town. That ate up most of my points, but I still had a slice of pizza for dinner. On top of that add in PMS and candy in the house, and it's not a pretty picture. I am now in a flex points deficit. On the positive side, I did not give into the impulse to just start shoving food in my mouth, and while I had what seemed like out of body experiences in which I couldn't control what my hand was putting in my mouth, I did count everything and journal it. I'm feeling less "cravy" today, so hopefully I'll end today and tomorrow within points. My sneek peaks have still been good, so I'm hopeful that the trip to the scale on Wednesday won't be disasterous. I have a couple of challenges coming up - lunch out on Thursday and dinner at my Mom's on Saturday. Both should be managable.

Have a great evening.

Carla - I'm sorry to hear you had a rough weekend but you handled it better than I did by writing everything down so way to go! I know that you will do better today and tomorrow. Thanks for the sympathy & empathy. Yes, it was a painful weekend but I had a feeling that they would not pull it off fairly early in the game. We did watch it to the last out but Tony and I had already decided what to do if they lost - the same as when the Yanks lost to the snakes in 2001 (and that one was more painful given the what we had all just been through) - we turned the tv off immediately and ended the baseball season before we had to see the fish celebrate (BTW, I loved what you said about that and just told Tony!)

Well, my last few weeks of slipping showed up big time on the scale on Saturday (but I give myself pats on the back for going to faced the music (or in this case the scale). I gained 3.2 pounds which puts me back below the 10 pounds lost. I have to check to see if I am starting PMS (I think so) but that, plus the Yanks, plus still feeling a little sick on Saturday sent me into a woe-is-me weekend complete with many dippings into the Halloween candy. Still, I pulled myself out of my self-pity yesterday after speaking with one of my cousins (she lost another few pounds and told me that she is wearing a size 6 - gag me!) I decided that if I wanted to look thinner by Thanksgiving, I have to get my behind in gear. I felt better yesterday illness wise and did a little yoga. I told Tony that I HAD to get back on program and would appreciate his help. I just finished a spinning workout after work and have decided that as long as I am well I have to kick the exercise back up. I plan on losing at least 1/2 of what I gained this week - not too unrealistic if I really work the program. I don't really have any challenges this week - I'm going to take a sick day on Thursday so I can get to my advisor and register for next semester (all her evening appts are booked this week and I really want to get into certain sections). The school has an idiotic way of telliong you it's time to register - they don't! I just heard from one of the TA's at school on Friday that they had started. Still, the grad advisor said no sections were closed yet so I'm hoping (and will be obsessing about) that I can get the classes I want - going Mon & Tues on the early evening (4:40) time. I want to see how that helps manage the week (have evenings at home before the weekend to do school work). Being "off" on Thursday should help kicking up the exercise a bit.

Have a great one!

Hi all.

Judy - I'm sorry to hear about the gain. But you're right in that you deserve a pat on the back for facing down the scale on Saturday. Sometimes we need to see that number in black and white, rather than just suspect what it might be, to get our butts in gear. It sounds like your's is firmly in gear now. You're absolutely right, you can lose 1/2 of what you gained by next week and you can definitely look thinner by Thanksgiving. As for school registration - not telling students that it's time to register is certainly a poor way to handle it. Of course, I went to school, both undergrad and grad, back in the day before the on-line world so the distribution of class schedules for the next semester was always a good clue for us.... I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the sections that you want.

I had a better day yesterday. I did end up going over, but by just a couple of points. Late evenings seem to be my danger point. I think I'd better get back into my habit of brewing a few cups of decaf coffee in the evening and drinking it with a shot of sugar-free vanilla syrup. That seems to have taken care of the sweet cravings. The sneek peak this morning was still good, so I think I've dodged a bullet, but of course only tomorrow will tell. I've done some pretty heavy duty housework today and am hoping that I've burned some extra calories. I made the decision when I started the program on-line and could start tracking activity points that I would not "claim" points for every day activity like housework, etc. I figured I should only reward myself with activity points when I actually do some sort of exercise. And then, any calories burned during the normal activity would hopefully just boost my weightloss. So we'll see.

Have a great evening.

Reporting in with a .04 loss this week. I've frittered away some nice sneak peeks, but it could have/should have been a gain, so I'm happy with it. And I've hit 15 pounds total, so that's good news. And now to focus this week on staying within points.

Carla - Way to go on the loss and on reaching 15 pounds!!!!!! Way to go - that is just super. I hope you are justifyably proud of yourself! Yes, you are right about seeing the number in black and white. Your post reminded me that I used to do very well with having lf hot chocolate in the evening - that 1 point was very satisfying chocolate-wise and sipping something hot takes a while. You kow, they do have paper schedules at school but since I don't "hang out" there, just go to my one class, I didn't run into any. Oh well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the meeting with my advisor tomorrow.

I have been on track so far this week - I still have 23 FP's left. I will need to have a few to spend on Friday. The sweet stuff has been coming in for Friday's Halloween party at school. The one that is calling to me is the pan of double fudge brownies. I figure if I save points for one piece, I should be able to ignore the stuff we'll be giving out once I get home! I did a strength workout yesterday and a yoga workout today. If this (new) cold stays above my neck, I will try to do a little upper body strength tomorrow - all part of the slim down by T-Day.

Have a great one!

Hi Friends,

Life is way too busy for me these days. My mom's in the hospital with heart problems and I've been doing a four hour round trip to visit every other day. I'm just about ready to fall into bed, but thought I stop by and let you know I haven't forgotten you.

Way to go Carla on another great loss. Let me know when you hit 235 and I'll join you on the way down!

Judy, sorry about the scale not cooperating with you. And those darned brownies. I've had halloween candy in the house for well over an hour now, and not a piece has touched my lips (yet).

Not doing well on the food front, but not doing as badly as I might.

Hoping soon I'll be a daily poster again. Miss you both.

Karen - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Is this something that just happened or something she's had problems with before? Wow, a 4 hour round trip every other day must be really tough. Please know that I am keeping you and your mom in my prayers. Take care of yourself as best as you can. That is *all* you can do right now. {{{HUGS}}}}}

I had a PMS run-in of the sweet/salty kind last night. I managed to consume a lot of FP's but I still have more than a handful left and after seeing my advisor this morning I plan on doing a good workout so I have some AP's for today. I'm planning low-point meals for tomorrow so I have some points for the inevitable brownie.

Hi all! I just joined this board a few days ago. I lost 2 pounds since then. I'm not expecting a loss next week. I'm going to be going out for dinner for my birthday and I'm sure we'll be having cake at some point. Plus PMS should be kicking in soon. I guess I'm just going to have to conserve points to make up for it.

Hi all.

Judy - Sorry to hear that the salty/sweets got you. Sounds like you have a good plan in place for handling the sweets tomorrow. You have another cold? Bummer. I hope it goes away soon. Well, in this day and age I'd think that your school could do e-mail notifications or something. You know, I used to enjoy ff hot chocolate too. I need to stock up on some. Although, I have to admit that when the sweet cravings hit, I usually need something solid to satisfy them.

Karen - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I'll keep her in my prayers. You've had a trying few months. My mom is 1.5 hours away from me, so I know how wearing it is to do those round trips multiple times a week. Take care of yourself the best you can sweetie and I'll be saying a prayer for you too.

Jessica - Welcome and Happy Birthday. Just a bit of advice from an old-timer, if you don't mind. Don't get yourself in the mindset of not expecting a loss. Expect that you'll meet your challenges and do the best you can. I say that as someone who did not take my own advice for a long time and paid for it.

I dipped into the flex points last night, but only used five. Fortunately, the mini whoppers are now all gone, so they no longer pose a threat. Tonight's challenge: the two little cakes Ana and I made at our Halloween cake decorating class last night. I'm amazed at myself for not having dipped into the Butterfingers yet. How kind of the Whoppers to give their lives so that the Butterfingers might live. Lunch today is at California Pizza Kitchen. Although I've been there before, I brought up their menu last night so I could plan. A million delicious soups, salads, pasta and pizza and none of them looking particularly point friendly. And, no nutrition information to be found. I'll muddle through the best I can.

Have a great day/evening.
