Weigh In at Home 1/26 - 2/2

Good Morning...

Starting the thread in Judy's absence. I'll come back this evening after work.

Have a great Monday.

Hi all.

Karen - Thanks for getting us started this morning. Go Kart racing sounds like a blast! Good for you for keeping to your resolution to plan meals out. I'm not always consistent, but I too have been doing that and it helps immensely. I love your new quote - definitely words to live by

Golden - Welcome. Dottie's Weight Loss Zone is an invaluable source for points for restaurant foods, etc.

Tahoemom - Better to crawl than to stay still. I really don't like McD's at all, which I suppose is good. Although I do find their ice cream cones tasty. But their playland is a great place for kids to let out their energy.

I had a so-so weekend. Not a lot of snacking, etc. but we did eat out/order in. My fridge and pantry are getting bare and I have to get to the grocery store. Problem is John worked day and night almost all weekend. Besides the fact that it still hurts to drive, his car broke down Friday night, so I'm stuck at home without a car. This is not making for a happy Carla. Tomorrow I'm going to have to drive him to work and then get to the grocery store. Luckily, my knee, although it was still achy yesterday, is feeling better and I was even able to sleep last night.

Have a great day and talk to you all later.

Hi all,

First, welcome to the newbies! This is a great supportive group.

Despite regular workouts (up until last Wed. that is) and minimal "cheating" I gained a half pound. Although it's discouraging to see the numbers going up instead of down, I do
notice that my body is getting tighter and clothes are feeling slightly looser.

On Friday, I came down with a horrible cold (yes, I'm sick AGAIN - blame it on work stress) so while I've been eating normally, I haven't exercised at all. I'm chomping at the bit to feel better so I can get back in the gym!

This week, my fiance is in Chicago on business. Since I'll only be responsible for my own meals then, I'm going to try the "Wendie Plan" which is basically varying your Point levels substantially from day to day, without going over. Sometimes I think one needs to "shock" their body into losing again. I'm also going to
ease up on carby stuff and try to eat more protein. Maybe that will shake some pounds lose!

Hope everyone has a great week.

Good morning everyone

I just reread last week's thread and I noticed I never did admit to my weight after a horrible week of eatting and drinking. It had gone back up to 193. This past week wasn't very good eatting wise, but I exercised almost everyday, so I was pleased to see the scale down to 187.5. When I hit 184 I am treatting myself to a new hairdo. I have recently started to go gray and I hate it. I told myself that when I could lost 10 pounds the gray was going to go. I have never colored my hair so I am afraid to do it myself. Hopefully it won't hurt my pocketbook too much.

Sabrina I am sure you are gainning muscle which we all know weighs more than fat. It must be a wonderful feeling seeing your body tighten up. Mine is still pretty padded and so I'm not feeling any muscle tone yet. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Carla, how frustrating it is to be stuck at home without any wheels. I know that when I am home I have a tendency to eat out of boredom. I am going to send you strong will power vibes.

Enjoy your week ladies.

Hi again...

Tahoe - nothing like a session at the salon to make you feel pampered. That's a great reward that you have planned for yourself! Lucky for me I have inherited my mom's good hair genes, and only have a few grey hairs on the top of my head so far. They don't really show, so I'm letting them be. Last year I got out of a highlighting cycle that I'd been in for years. Just good old brown now...I treat myself to lots of haircuts in lieu of color.

Sabrina - you poor thing:( ...I remember how sick you got last time. Don't sweat that little half pound...your clothes are looser and that can only be a positive sign. It's so much easier to stay on program when you don't have someone else to consider cooking for, so I'm sure you'll do fine while Michael is away (I have a Michael too...that's how I remembered his name :) )

Carla - hope you'll be able to be out and about soon...I always find that when I have transportation, going out isn't an issue, but when stuck at home without any, I'm desparate to get out and about. Good for you for watching the snacking in the face of takeout etc.

Today was my first day back to work after a week off. The 5 a.m. alarm was a bit much to take, but the day was pretty good all in all. Got a new purple water bottle the other day from Starbuck's, which I have emptied x3 today. I did a lower body workout at the gym today...I looked at my workouts today, and if I'm going to make my goal of 20 for the month, I can't take a day off until the 31st. Mike has dinner ready, so I'd better go and enjoy it!

See you tomorrow...

msgolden25 01-27-2003 08:42 PM

Thanks for welcoming me ladies. It nice to see a chatty bunch.

Carla - On the weekends, I tend to eat out also. But its good that you kept things in perspective and refrained from eating lots of junk food.

Sabrina - That half pound isn't much. I know you hate to see the scale go up but it maybe muscle you building. Especially since you know that your clothes are getting loser. And it always feel good to lose some of that jiggle and tighten up. With the weight training that I am doing I can see less and less of my flabby arms.

Tahoemom - Wow, although you had gained the one week you've done something right the following week losing those 5.5 lbs.

Karen - It is hard to return to work when I have that much time off. I know its going to feel good to hit the 20 lb mark. I can't wait to just hit the 10 lb myself.

Well I had an excellent kickboxing class today. I go to the gym on my lunch and I just love it. I stayed within my point range and have points banked. Hooray for me!!!!

Hi all,

Just a quick note to tell you that I'm back from a great weekend of friends and (tough) but fun exercise (one hour of interval aerobics, an hour of step and then I had to stop after lunch because my ankle felt a little twingy) I won't be able to respond to everyone individually (except to say "Welcome" to Golden) ''cause I've been catching up on work this morning + we are having server issues (probably the virus thing).

I didn't make it to weigh-in on Saturday 'cause I left my packing until Saturday morning (not a good thing 'cause I ended up forgetting a couple of things). I tried to watch what I was eating for the most part over the weekend though and only allowed myself the insides (not the roll) of a Philly cheesesteak on Sunday evening when I was pooped from the exercising. I had a good day yesterday and stopped eating 2 hours before bedtime and banked 1/2 food point. My sneak peek this morning (no more TOM) was good though so I hope to keep up the work this week and see a good result on Saturday.

Hi all,

Sabrina - Don't be bummed over that small gain. Most likely, it's retained water and will come right off. Boy, it's a crummy week, weather-wise, for your DF to be in Chicago. I'm sure you miss him, but sometimes it's good to have time to have to think only of yourself when it comes to meals, etc. Sorry to hear you're sick again. Hope it doesn't last as long this time.

Tahoemom - Congrats on a great loss! I think a trip to the salon is a great way to pamper yourself. I always used to swear I would never color my hair. But when my stylist told me she saw some gray, I told her to do what she had to do.:) So now every eight weeks it's cellophane time. Thanks on sending me those vibes. I need them, although since the pantry is getting barer, it's harder to find things to snack on.

Karen - Exactly. I'm perfectly content, usually, to spend the day at home puttering around the house. But when I have no choice but to be here - boy do I go stir crazy. Enjoy that new purple water bottle!

Golden - Good for you for banking points! We used to eat out a lot when I was working outside the home, but not so much now that I'm home. I definitely don't want to get into that habit again!

Judy - Glad to hear you had a good weekend! Mmmm - a philly cheesesteak sounds good right about now. Yay for a good sneak peek!

Another day stuck at home today. I was going to drive John to work, but it's horrible out there - freezing rain and sleet. So he drove to work and will come home early to pick up Ana. I'm glad because I couldn't see my knee doing well with the 40 minute drive back from his office. Of course, no car means no grocery shopping. I think I'll be able to scrounge up a meal from what I have in the house, but tomorrow I'm definitely going to have to stock up. My sneak peeks haven't been good, and I'm definitely retaining water (not drinking enough the past couple of days), so I'm not anticipating a good weigh-in tomorrow. Oh well, I'm just going to have to work hard to see better results next week.

Have a good day.

Carla

Hey Gang! THis is going to be a quick note as I have to get ready for work. I'll be weighing in on Friday and hope that I didn't blow it that bad. We had a "super bowl" party on Sunday and ever since I've been at little-- ok alot out of control. As of today I'm doing pretty good-- even got a work out in!! :)

I hope everyone keeps their chins up and hangs in there!!!!!!

Have a great day!

Hi Everyone,

Only have 2 minutes before I have to go to the dentist for a cleaning/fluoride treatment.

Judy...sounds like an active weekend. A bellini, btw, is a delicious alcoholic concoction most easily desribed as a peach flavored slurpee. Not sure what's in them, but they are awesome.

Carla...hang in there...there's a big world waiting for you when you get your wheels back.

Kori...glad to hear you've back on track. It's easier to stay off the wagon after you fall off, but once you haul yourself back on you're better off.

Golden - that's 20 workouts I'm trying to get in before the end of the month. Can't take any days off if I want to get there. Kickboxing sounds like fun. Good for you for staying OP!

Have had some horrendous sneak peaks lately...hope tomorrow will be better.

Have a good one, gotta run.

Minus .5 lb this morning. Four losses in a row!

:D :cb: :cp:  :flow2:  :flow1:

JudySP 01-29-2003 09:56 AM

Sabrina - I hope you are feeling better.

Carla- sorry to hear about the car and bare pantry. I know being stuck in the house can't be easy. I hope you guzzled water and you can get out of the house today!

Karen - Way to go on your loss and on it being the 4th in a row - that's darned near a record here if it isn't one (does anyone remember?) I hope your dentist's appt was uneventful. Mmm, those bellini's sound yummy - I'm glad I don't know how to make them! Sounds like you are committed to getting those workouts in - good for you!

I had a good day yesterday. Work was busy but not annoying busy/stressful. I managed to make the best of carrying the laptop by doing a little catchup correspondasnce on the machine on the way home and sending the messages in the evening. I didn't exercise yesterday and won't get to do anything today because the boss's boss is having drinks for his direct reports and one level down (my level). The last thing I want to do is go to a smoky bar with people from work but I have to make an appearance. I figure if I limit it to 1/2 hour I'll get home at 8:30. I plan on working out tomorrow though - I got a new (and very much anticipating) DVD series of workouts that are tough, tough, though but from one of my favorite instructors and I plan on starting tomorrow. So far, I have 20 workouts done so I am now building towards a little "cushion" for my goal of 240. I snacked moderately and cut off eating 2 hrs before bedtime - and managed to bank 4 points so that's good. My sneak peak this morning was good and I'm planning on making it better!

Have a great one!
Judy

Hi all -

Kori - We've all had to pull ourselves back on the wagon on occasion - usually kicking and screaming. Congrats for getting back on track and getting a workout in.!

Karen - Congrats on your loss and on 4 in a row! That's a good string of losses. Hope your dentist appointment was uneventful!

Judy - It's good when work is busy in a good kind of way - you feel productive and tired in a good kind of way. Sounds like you had a kick butt OP day yesterday - good for you. It's a bummer to be forced to socialize after work when you don't really feel like it, but when the bosses call... Hope you don't get home too late.

As anticipated I had a gain today - 1.6 pounds. Combination of eating out/ordering in/being a slug. It's better than the sneak peeks were, so I'm happy for that. Nothing to do but get back on track. We went out to eat last night, but that's it for awhile. John's car is fixed and I got to go to the grocery store today! I'm well-stocked now so it should be smooth sailing. My knee is still achy, but since the doctor said that bike riding would do it good, I think tomorrow I'll hop on the bike and see how it feels. I'm way behind on workouts for the month, but I'm not going to fret about it. I'll make them up along the way.

Have a great day.

Kori - I'm sorry I missed your post yesterday. Good luck tomorrow - Carla's right, we've all had to pull ourselves back on the wagon. The most important thing is that we do it. Way to go for getting a workout in.

Carla - Sorry to hear about the gain, I'm glad it was less than the sneak peeks and now that you have wheels again and can stock your kitchen with good choices I know you'll do much better next week. Not that I'm a doctor but I did rehab my knee after surgery and I agree with your doctor - the bike will be good for your knee. Just don't push too hard - it's OK to take it easy on the bike - it's still more activity than not being on it at all. If it bothers you a little afterwwards, try to ice it and take advil (ibuprofen - assuming that's OK with the bp meds). You are so right about not fretting about the number of workouts - I've managed to catch up after a few weeks off for bronchitis.

I had another good day yesterday - I didn't get a workout in (I got home a little after 8:00) but I only had one light beer at the drinks for work (I stayed for about 45 minutes so I showed my face) - they actually had some food there but I didn't even go over and look. I had a snacky kind of evening - but my "dinner" was cereal so I figure it was dinner in bits & pieces). I stopped 2 hrs before bedtime and managed to bank 1.5 points. My sneak peek was pretty good this morning and I'm planning on getting a tough strength workout in either at lunch or after work. Tomorrow is my first day of not telecommuting on a Friday in about a year - I'm still going to try to workout when I get home. I know I'm not going to want to but I'm going to try to force myself to do it - hopefully having all these new workouts will be some additional incentive.

Have a great one,
Judy

Only have 4 seconds...life is busy beyond belief this week. Haven't even had a chance to read any posts, let alone actually post. Hope you'll all have a great weekend.
