Angel-eyes - toasted tomato sandwiches - mmmm, that sounds yummy. I'm making a sweater for my husband. I love to knit - I had to quit for about 1/2 year when I hurt my shoulder - now I have to watch that I don't do too much for too long. Sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel.

Karen - I hope your walk by the river with the pups was fun. What a good idea to plug in the crock pot outside!

Welcome back Holly!!! It sure is good to hear from you and congrats on your decision to re-start!

I didn't weigh in on Saturday as expected because we left early to pick up my parents and go up to Connecticut. I didn't do badly on the bagels. We went out to a Peruvian restaurant on Sat night (with my parents) when we got back. I could have been better food-wise but also could have been worse. Yesterday Tony and I played tennis for almost an hour and I was OP foodwise. I'm looking forward to a totally OP week - I want to get to my first 10 pounds lost (1.4 pounds away) this month.

Have a great one,
Judy

Hi all.

Just a quick note to say I'm back home. Loved every minute of vacation, but definitely ate and drank too little water and too much beer.

Judy - I love Peruvian food. What did you have? I know that you're going to hit that ten pound marker this month.

I'll go back to last week's thread and catch up later. Now I must go get Luigi from the vet's where we boarded him.

Talk to you later.

Good morning!

Judy, sounds like you had a great weekend. Way to go on playing tennis too. I know you'll make that 1.4 lb goal this month.

Carla, welcome back! We missed you. Nothing wrong with having a few beers on vacation. You're back on track with us already!

We had a lovely anniversary dinner Friday night...I had rack of lamb that was absolutely to die for. Portions were small so not much damage done. I was more or less on track all weekend, and had darned well better see a loss on Wednesday.

Have a great day...

Karen

Back again. I had a chance to catch up on last week's thread.

Judy – Congrats on that post-vacation weigh in of .06 done. A great achievement! I sure hope that work will be less stressful for you soon.

Michele – I hope you had a good weekend at the lake. Hang tough and I know that you’ll get back on track with maintaining/losing. You did so well; you’ll do it again.

Angel Eyes – Welcome! Like you, I’m a recent SAHM, although it might be only for the summer. We’ll see. I just turned 43 last week and have been at this weight loss thing all my life. I lost about 40 pounds a few years ago, but it came back after we adopted our daughter and I had to readjust to a new schedule. I’ve been struggling these last few years, but at least I haven’t gotten beyond my weight when I first started WW in 98. The support here has made all the difference.

Karen – Sorry to hear about that small gain last week. You’ll have it off in no time, I’m sure. Yay for you for dumping your change so the vending machines couldn’t get you. Belated Happy Anniversary wishes to you and Mike! The adoption conference that John and I went to before vacation is being held in Vancouver next year. We’re thinking of going. If we do, hopefully we can get together!

Holly – Good to see you again. Welcome back on the wagon.

Later,

Carla

Carla - you MUST come to Vancouver! Our home is huge, so you'd be MORE than welcome to stay with us too! We'll take you to all the sights, and the exchange rate is to die for. I can hardly wait...that's if you decide to come . Thanks for the anniversary wishes!

Hi all.

Karen - The first thing I thought of when I saw the advertisement for the 2003 conference is "I can meet Karen!" We're definitely thinking about doing that conference and it would be so much fun to get together.

I'm slowly getting back on track. Haven't started journaling again yet, but will definitely start that tomorrow. Right now I'm trying to make up for my lack of water last week. I'm not sure whether or not I'll jump on the scale tomorrow. I'll see how I feel about it in the morning.

Have a good day all.

Hi all!

Judy - almost to 10 - hurray! Any secrets that are helping you to stay OP so well? Please share!!

Cece -- I just got back from 2 wks on vacation also -- and I definately drank my weight in alcohol pts! ;-) Good luck this week getting back on track :-)

Karen - Congrats on the anniversary -- how many yrs?

I am thinking again about attending meetings, but I really don't want to go that route. (my hubby is not home most evenings, so I need to deal with babysitting, etc... to go to meetings). I'd like to be able to keep to the web for support, but there is definately a motivator in having to be weighed :-Z

Have a great OP day everyone! Holly

Hi, everybody! I am new here, but I am going to jump right in. Isn't it hard to stay on track on vacation?! I am going on vacation next week. I am sort of dreading it because we are going to my mom's house and there is alway such good foods there that I don't get to eat at home. But I am determined to behave. 4 pounds to the next decade, and I don't want to mess that up!

Hi All,

Just have a few seconds to post as DH is wating for me; we're heading out for dinner at my brother's place. Luckily SIL is doing WW so it'll be an easy meal!

Holly - thanks for the anniversary wishes...it's just 2 years for us. The time has flown though. There's a lot to be said for going to meetings for sure, but I find posting the weekly results here almost as motivating. I find my schedule is too busy and erratic to go.

Teric - glad you found your way to our thread. You'll find lots of support and encouragement. These ladies are the best.

Carla - I so hope you and John decide to come to Vancouver...it would be great to get together.

Talk to you soon,

Karen

Carla - Welcome back! I'm glad to hear that you are getting back OP. I hope vacation was lots of fun. The place we went to specializes in roast chicken with an incredible dry rub/marinade. We had a whole of side dishes that came with the special we ordered: rice & beans, avocado salad, fried plantains - not all low point as you can see.

Karen - Happy anniversary (belated) - I'm glad to hear that you had a nice dinner - it doesn't sound like much damage was done.

Holly - I don't know that I have any secrets - I've basically been maintaining for a long time and getting past 9.4 pounds lost (the most I've done since I came back) will be my first real breakthrough. I guess there are a few things that keep me trying to stay OP & not quitting although it has been a really slow go - knowing that I'll only gain it back and then some, not liking how I look in pictures and my health. The latest motivation was the orthopedist telling me that the single best/most effective thing I can do to keep my knees healthy is to lose weight! I really like my meetings - I like my leader and I've made friends with some great people. I don't have to worry about babysitters, etc. though.

Teric - Hi and welcome. Staying OP is a challenge on vacation - my attitude is to do my best to stay OP and just make sure that I exercise and drink lots of water. I didn't stay totally OP on my last vacation but I didn't let myself go nuts and that really helped. Good luck and let us know how you do. Have you thought of any specific strategies to follow?

I did OK yesterday - it was a pretty stressful day at work and I had to leave early for a dentist appt. Tony was out in NJ at a golf outing so I just made myself 2 tomato sandwiches for dinner (homegrown variety) - yum! I got a bit aggravated with him (he lost track of time, etc.) and managed to eat something like 6 points of peanuts (in the shell) but I squeaked out under my max. Not great from the standpoint that it was emotional eating but I've done worse in the past. The weather here has been awful - 90's and humid and they say it's going to be like this through the weekend. I wanted to do a little Pilates workout when I got home yesterday but my tooth was aching (novacaine wearing off). I don't know if I'll get any in today - I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that on the two days I go into the city the chances of my exercising are slim to none. I'm determined to get a good workout in for the rest of the week (Thurs-Sun).

Angie, Karen C, Pat, Jennifa - are you still out there? Please check in even if you have falled off the wagon!

Judy

Best of intentions.... my friend called while I was at work yesterday and we planned an impromptu get-together. I was immediately worried about keeping OP, but tried to plan a "nice" meal that would also be low pts. Long story short(er) :-) -- a couple of glasses of wine later I lost all resolve to stay on track, and went as far off track as to eat an ice cream flurry :-O. More and more, I'm beginning to think I may need the motivation of meetings.

Judy -- sorry about your tooth - ouch

Teric - Welcome! I second Judy's advice to focus on being active and drinking water while on vacation. The end result is supposed to be a total lifestyle change, and making up for some indulgence with activity and water IS a major lifestyle change!

Merrylegs - How did you handle the dinner at SIL?

Hi all;

Judy; hope your mouth is feeling better. I know exactly where you're coming from with the emotional eating about something relatively trivial. Hope the temperature and humidity drop for you soon.

Miadill, welcome to our thread! Congratulations on getting your first 5 lb star! Stick around and we'll help you on the way to your next one.

Holly, shrug off the flurry and carry on...you'll do fine. Had no problems with dinner, we had BBQ'd salmon. I ate tons of salad and passed on the potato salad (except for a tiny taste).

I lost the lb I gained last week when I weighed in this morning. I have to string together a bunch of losing weeks in a row. Off to drink some more water...
