Need help with dinner issues!

  • Hi. I am back on this site AGAIN. I lost 40 pounds on WW almost 2 years ago, gained 20 back and have been on and off sporadically over the last year. It is now time to REALLY commit. I want to loose the 20 I gained back.

    I do really well during the day..my issue is dinner time. What are you all eating for dinner? Do you make healthy meals for the family and jsut calculate your points value? Do you make one meal for the family and one meal for you? My hubby is not dieting with me and likes typical dinners...meat, potatoes, rice, veggie etc. I also have 2 girls ages 5 and 3. I also like to cook meals that are simple, quick and easy. I find alot of the recipes in the WW book time consuming, or they involve ingredients I don't have, or they are meals we would not eat.

    HELP!!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  • Well if you are doing the cooking I say hubby should eat what you make. But that being said I also will make a full dinner but have something the family will eat that I won't for sides.

    Usually our dinners are some sort of grilled meat, veggies, and then sometimes I'll add mashed potatoes and have a bite or I'll just not eat them. I also make brown rice now since hubby never was a rice fan to begin with. I changed up all our noodles to whole grain noodles (which nobody has complained about) and overall everything is cooked much healthier than before- I rarely use butter now, mostly EVOO, and so on.

    Nights I make dinner he doesn't like he just doesn't eat it- but knows that when we have children he'll have to eat it... It's not too often he does this- but it happens.

    Honestly I don't like the WW cookbooks- too much effort IMO.

    I like the cooking light recipes- easy and delicious!

    I think allrecipes.com has cooking light recipes as well- but they also have fattening recipes so pay attention to where the recipe comes from.

    I also use sparkrecipes.com- they have all the nutrition info and the recipes are all user submitted so you also have to look to make sure it's a healthy recipe (sometimes there are really fattening ones up there).
