Wtf!

  • I'm in my 3rd week of WW. The first two weeks I saw BIG losses, 5 lbs the 1st week and 4.5 the second. This morning (I obsess, and weigh myself every morning) it was UP 1.5 pounds.

Insert here. It's just disappointing to see that. I went to the gym yesterday! I stayed in my points! I'm trying hard to not get discouraged.

Oh well, I'm going to try to get into a spin class this morning. I need to burn calories!
  • If you are going to weigh every day you can't get upset about fluctuations. If you are staying in your points and exercising it will go back down. Lots of things can cause fluctuations including salt intake the day before and when you last went to the bathroom.

I frequently fluctuate up for a couple of days and then will drop again. Plus with big losses the first two weeks your body may just be taking a rest before it keeps losing.
  • Well weight fluctuates for many reasons. Sometimes it is best to look at losses by the weekrather than day because often it just isn't that accuarte. When working out a lot your muscles will retain water and you see a slight rise as well as TOM often will have a slight raise in weight.
Try not to get discouraged. I know you will see a loss.
  • don't worry about this you could be building lean muscle and thats a great thing!
  • I weigh everyday too (I just can't NOT do it!), but I have learned not to stress too much about the daily fluxuations. I have a scale that records weights, and I only "save" my official weekly weigh in. The ones I do the other mornings are not saved, so I can still easily see how much I am down for the week. If my dailys weights fluxuate, no biggie...but if I start to see my weekly loss is disappearing, or God forbid I am up for the week, then I up my exercise, water and fiber.
  • Hi there!
I used to weigh myself multiple times a day, and my emotions were ruled by the darn numbers on the scale. I stopped doing this only a couple of months ago, and my life is SO much better. I weigh in once a week, record it, graph it, and move on.
This works for me, because daily fluctuations, and hourly fluctuations are normal. I just choose not to deal with them because stressing about them is for me totally unproductive.

  • I'm the same way. I check twice a day - morning and night. I like knowing exactly where i'm at. Also, it helps me figure out which foods cause extra water retention etc!
  • This is why your only supposed to weigh in once a week. A little gain can really affect you mentally.
  • Your body normally fluctuates about 2lbs during the course of a day.
