Default New to WW@H

Hi everyone! I have wanted to try WW, but have resisted for a long time. Now, after reading this forum, I think I have found something that will be good for me.

One question, I went to the link in the sticky to get the at home supplies, but they are quite expensive. Anyone have any alternatives to this or can these items be purchased at a local WW center?

Welcome aboard Monkey
As for the at home kit or books I got mine off ebay about 3 months ago, got the 2008 food companion, restaurant guide and calculator for much less than is sold at weight watchers. I must say though that the restaurant guide I rarely use, the calculator I take with me to the grocery store when I want to try something new. but I use a lot of the recipes on this forum and in used ww cookbooks I have found which tell the points. It seems to work

I also keep a food journal and when I find a food that I know I will eat many many times I put a note on the journal so I don't have to keep looking it up for example I make a breakfast burrito every morning that works out to 2pt each. a med apple is 1 pt, the recipe for taco soup is 1pt per cup etc. Hope that helps you

Thanks so much! I think I will look into ebay for this. It is really hard to dish out that much money for those items right now, but I REALLY want to do it.

off to go look...

monkeybean! There are also lots of free sites that give WW info - try googling "weight Watchers points" and you'll be amazed at what you find - that is how I started since money was tight here as well!

Thanks so much for the input. I really think that the more I know, the better prepared I will be to make this life change. I know that "life change" is what it will take to get me to understand what I eat and how I view food.

Hi everyone!! Im new to this forum and trying to do WW at home also. I can't go to the meetings right now, but plan to join some time in the future. I will be doing the flex plan. I have tried Core several times and I just eat to much and I don't lose. I need flex to help me keep my portions under control and I feel more in control. I wish all newbies and all members good luck. This looks like a good supportive forum and looking forward to knowing you all...barb

Welcome barb! I looked at the core and flex plan before settling on flex. I like that I can eat anything I want with a little planning. Good luck to you hope you post often

I'm new here too. I started flex four weeks ago and I like it. I've tried several "diets" in the past and always cheated. This plan is something I can actually stick with and it's okay to eat whatever I want if I plan for it. Good luck and hope you really like WW.
