Hi Karen
Sending prayers and good thoughts for your mom's speedy recovery. We'll miss you if you're away. Take care. Karen B |
Karen-So sorry to hear about your mother, I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
Carla-don't you just hate those darn Girl Scouts?!;) I am not sure how long Duvall St really is, at least a mile or 2. I will never make it, I think there is at least 50 bars. I know I will go to Hard Rock and Margarittaville's. There is also a bar that was owned by E. Hemmingway that is really nice. This will be the 1st year we go to Florida without Bobby so we can have a little more "fun". Karen-I wish I had a river or the time to take the dogs for a walk like that, I am afraid they just get to run around the back yard most of the time. We have over an acre fenced in so I don't feel too bad for then. We do walk them more often in summer when not so dark so soon. Judy- I LOVE DARK CHOCOLATE. 5 points for a whole special dark is my once a month treat:smug: Sorry your shoulder/back thing is still giving you so much trouble. Good Luch at weigh in today for you Wed. weigh ins. Have a great day. |
Hi all, I don't have much time, but wanted to update you on Mumsy. She had emergency surgery late last night and came through it well. My sister is flying out to Texas to be with her today and I will be going Friday. That allows me to keep my appt tomorrow at the anxiety disorder clinic which I have waited 2.5 months for, and I know I'll need all the help I can get dealing with Mumsy and the hospital and doctors. Thanks you all for your prayers and well wishes.
Weigh in this morning minus 2 pounds! Don't know if I'll be able to check in before I leave, so have a good week. I'm planning on returning March 9, will talk to you then. |
Karen-so glad you moms surgery turned out well. Great job on the loss. Good luck at your appt. w/ Dr. and have a safe trip. "See" you when you return.

Carla - Sorry to hear about those evil GS cookies. I'd be happy to take you to a real NY deli - of course, either the corned beef on rye or the pastrami on rye sandwich at The Carnegie Deli is probably 80 points! I hope the weigh in went well.
Karen B - I hope your weigh in went well. Sorry to hear about the snacking but way to go on your exercising. The last few weeks, I've journalled my snacks after I ate them - I want to try to journal them before I eat them - when I've done that in the past, it has stopped me from eating some of the snacks. Karen C - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom - I'm glad the surgery went well. I'm sure getting to the anxiety disorder clinic will help and it's good that you can still go. Congratulations on the 2 pounds gone!! Michele - I like the idea of having a once a month treat - I may just have to try a WHOLE dark chocolate bar (for 5 points) once a month. Sounds like a good thing to have during PMS! I had an OK day yesterday - I left a little early because my shoulder/back thing was really bothering me and I managed to get a 1/2 massage appt at the chiro's which really helped. It's still there (I have to be careful) but much less of a problem. My sneak peek was up today (but I still have TOM) - I'll see what it's like tomorrow afternoon before I decide whether or not to try to weigh in the late afternoon. Between work, PT, and a chiro appt, tomorrow is going to be a pretty crazy day. Have a great one! Judy |
Good Morning!
Karen - Wishing your mom a smooth recovery. Congratulations on your 2lbs gone, and have a safe trip. Talk to you when you get back if you don't get back online. Michele - the dogs are my conscience when it comes to getting out for a walk. There's a short stretch of accessible riverbank about a five minute drive from here that we take them to every day, it's about a half mile total there and back. they run like a pair of lunatics and get in about 5 miles! On my days off, I take them to the river near Vancouver International Airport; there's a long dyke and beaches, plus get to watch the planes come and go. It's pretty nice. We don't have a very big yard, and Lucy digs if she's left alone for long outside, so she needs her exercise. Lucky you for having an acre! How's the escape artist doing? Judy - that's brilliant, journalling snacks before eating them! I'm sure that'll help a lot. Hope the back's feeling better. Sounds like you're super busy these days. Weigh in was minus one pound. I'll take it! Got up early and did 45 minute weight loss program on the treadmill - moved up one intensity level, so that's good news. Took the dogs only for a short stroll after. Going to my parents' place for lunch; they're both WW lifetimers, so it'll be an easy meal to live with. My goal for the week is to treadmill *every* day. Have a good one, talk to you later Karen B |
Hi everyone.
Karen B - I know all too well that the GS cookies are just as good out of the freezer. They're just plain evil. Sending you positive vibes to get control of your snacking. Karen C - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, but glad to hear that her surgery went well. My best wishes for her speedy recovery. Congrats on another great loss! We'll miss you. Michele - Yep, those darn girl scouts so cute in their little uniforms pushing their evil cookies on us. John has been wanting to go to Key West. But we'd have Ana in tow, so no Duvall Street for us. Judy - I absolutely must plan a trip to NY, then, to go to a real deli. I'll have to plan it for tomato season so you can make me a tomato sandwich. :D Here's hoping your shoulder/back problem eases up completely soon. Well, I was up 1 pound today. Considering the last few days the scale had me up 3 pounds, I was a bit relieved. My rings are still tight, so its most likely water. I think I'm coming down with something. My throat has been hurting and I can barely keep my eyes open, I'm so tired. If I have to get sick, I hope whatever it is kills my appetite. Have a great day. Carla |
Karen B - Way to go on getting rid of that pound! 45 minutes on the treadmill, one level intensity up? You go girl! That's a great goal - to treadmill every day. I hope to get on mine later and do that 30 minutes run/walk interval program because it packs a lot in a half hour. Yes, journalling before you eat is a great idea - too bad I didn't do it last night!
Carla - Sorry to hear about the pound up but have TOM, right? If your rings are tight, you know it's water so put it behind you and keep on keeping on. Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I hope you are feeling better today. Hey friend, you are ON! Come to NY in August - we'll have home grown tomato sandwiches (with a little home grown basil) for dinner after having gone into the city for our big ol' pastrami on rye sandwiches. We'll walk around town and earn some activity points, then back to LI for cocktails! I had a run in with the snack monster last night - I don't know why but I counted up the damage afterwards (should have taken my own advice and journalled the snacks before I ate them). I have no points for lunch but I have a few banked so I'll be OK. Of course, that doesn't leave anything for the weekend..... I'm not sure if I'll get to weigh in today - the sneak peek wasn't bad but it's just a busy day since I have a chiro appt later for that shoulder blade muscle thing (which is much better, thanks). I have to come up with a strategy for the weekend. Tomorrow, as you know, my friend and I are going into the city (I'm playing tour guide) and going to the Carnegie Deli for lunch. We'll be doing some walking around Rockefeller Center and then home for some pizza (if we're hungry). I may try to eat 1/2 the pastrami sandwich and take the rest home - I'm sure Tony would love to snack on it. Saturday it's back into the city for the fitness conference (I won't be working out, just doing a little shopping and meeting other people from VF) where we will be eating out for lunch and dinner! I think I may have a salad for lunch because dinner is at this Italian restaurant which is supposed to be wonderful. I won't be having any drinks with dinner since I'll be driving. I have the menu so I'm going to try to pick out something "reasonable". Have a great one! Judy |
All right, I don't know what happened last night but my sneak peak says 152, goal weight! So what do I do????? I eat 2 pieces of pizza with stuffed crust and then I eat an entire bag of "Reindeer Poop". So screwed myself big time. Oh well, I have 4 days until official weigh in. I think the problem was talking to my mother last night. Instead of being happy for my weight loss she has to say 152? that sounds like an awful lot of weight. Totally forgeting that I am 5'9"? or just to ruin my day. Not too sure which. Knowing my mother, just to ruin my day. And STUPID me lets her get to me. Nothing like a little emotional eating:(
I guess at least I know what it was and hopefully I can do something about it. BTW-Reindeer poop: bag of chocolate basically. You take some type of round/pellet type chocolate (I use Heath Bites) and put in a baggie with fake snow and a little saying attached. There is Cupid Poop, Pumpkin poop, Leprechan Poop etc. I made them for Bobbys xmas party and that bag was left over and sat there for over 2 months until I decided to eat it after a horrible conversation with my mother. Sorry to ramble, have a great day. |
Good morning,
It's a glorious frosty morning on the west coast of Canada! My tulips are peeking up, and my crocuses (croci, I think) are in full bloom. What a great day! Carla, bummer about being a pound up, but you're right, if the rings are tight, you're retaining water. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, let's hope it's just a 24 hour thing. Just finished my breakfast smoothie, then off to treadmill. We're going to the hockey game tonight, my boss gave me her tickets - front row. Canucks and Dallas...should be fun. We're eating before we go, and I shall remain firmly planted in my seat between periods to avoid munching. Hope you're all having a great day! Karen B |
Judy and Michele, looks like we all posted at the same time. Judy, your eating strategy for tomorrow sounds sensible! Hey, with the pre-snack journalling, if we all practised what we preached, we'd all be perfect! Michele, you look great! Don't worry about what mom says, and don't let her rain on your parade...you're doing fantastic. Only 2 pieces of pizza? I'd have likely polished of 5 or 6! Hang in there! You're at goal!!!!!
Karen B |
Just a quick note - I'm signing off from work soon and waiting for my friend to arrive.
Michele - I'm sorry the conversation with your mother was a source for emotional eating. Just remember, we all slip, you still have 4 days, you have worked hard and done something very hard and should be proud of yourself - no matter what she said. WooHoo for you !! You deserve a whole lot of pats on the backs for your accomplishments. Forget the slip and get right back OP! Karen B - have fun at the hockey game! Well, I snacked a little too much last night after we got home from the from the financial planner Tony's work gives to those who are retiring. Probably some emotional eating there. Anyway, I've basically eaten all my points with breakfast so anything now goes into my banked and activity points. Oh well, we'll be walking around a lot today. I didn't get a chance to weigh in yesterday so this will have to be another week of no weigh in. Have a great weekend! Judy |
Hi everyone.
Judy - You probably won't get a chance to read this, but just in case... You're making a trip to NY in August seem awfully enticing! Sorry to hear that snacking has got to you. Have fun this weekend - sounds like you have a good plan in place. And I'm glad to hear that your shoulder blade muscle is feeling better. Michele - Moms... they really know how to push the buttons, don't they. Forget about what she said, you're doing great. And that one episode of emotional eating isn't likely to spoil your weigh-in in 4 days, so just stay on track and you'll be fine. I'm with Karen - I would have been hard-pressed to stop at two pieces of pizza. Karen B - How was the hockey game? Hockey's one sport I just can't get into. I can't wait to see tulips and croci. But its freezing cold here with the chance of a huge winter storm. Peachy. I was out sick yesterday and didn't move from the couch all day. Gosh, daytime TV is lame. I still have a cold and sniffles, but at least the sore throat and fever is gone. Probably didn't eat the best, but at least I didn't snack all day. And, I drank a lot of water. Our only plans for the weekend are to go out to dinner Saturday after Spanish class with Ana's godparents. We're going to an Italian restauarant. I'll eat low-point during the day and just be careful with portion sizes at dinner. Have a great weekend everyone. Carla |
