Is this normal???

  • Hi everyone,

I'm a bit of a lurker but joined WW online 2 weeks ago as I have ALOT of weight to loose. I started the program at 317lbs and was given 37 point a day. I have stuck to my points and have weighed and measured every single thing that I have eaten. My first weigh in I didn't lose anything, so I thought ok don't give up must be your body adjusting, then I had my 2nd weigh in and I PUT ON 1lb!!!!!! I have not eaten anything that I shouldn't of and I'm drinking all my water..................has anyone else had this experience?

To add insult to injury my husband is having WW dinners to help me out and has lost 5lbs without trying!!!!!
  • First...with your hubby losing weight without trying - men generally have a faster metabolism then us women. My husband can belch and lose a pound. It sucks, I know - but don't let it get you down.

And, are you anywhere around TOM?? That could be a reason for you gaining a pound.

Don't give up!!! Give it another week or so and you'll see a loss!
  • Are you following the eight healthy guidelines? I've found that even if I eat my points target, I don't lose unless I drink all my water and get in all my veggies, dairy, and oil. Also, I try to eat whole grains, etc. The eight healthy guidelines are in your week 1 book!
  • 37 points sounds like a lot.

It sounds like a very lot, unless things have changes in the couple of years since I followed WW.

They take your age, weight, height, level of current activity, and wether or not you are currently nursing into account now when determining your POINTS. bigkitten, can you give us these numbers and we can check that your POINTS target is correct?

    Hi Mod

That would be great if you could check the numbers for me. I'm 35, 5'5", weigh 317lbs (arggg hate seeing that in black and white) and I don't have an active job but am walking everyday and I'm not nursing.

I'm doing it online and if I havn't lost anything at the next 2 weigh ins, I'm going to go to a couple of meetings. Its so depressing (
  • After a few years of trying to convince my doctors that I have a thyroid problem (which my lab work has not shown), I joined Weight Watchers at work 2 months ago. My first week or two, I didn't really lose much, and it was depressing and discouraging. I stuck with it because my co-workers are on it, too.

I found that the weeks I'm most successful are weeks that I use the diary to accurately write down what I eat, definately drink water throughout the day (not let it go until the evening), and eating mostly vegatables. I think I'm very very carb sensitive so I'm doing Core. This week, I gained 0.6 lb and am trying to tell myself to keep going. I'm in it for the long term and am trying to stick to the WW rules and keep sight of my goal...

Good luck, stick with it, go for the trend instead of the weekly numbers.
  • Your daily points appear to be correct. Plus you have an extra 35 points weekly allowance to use in any way you wish. Journalling is definitely a big factor...counting everything accurately, measuring everything and following all the guidelines laid out by WW..ie drinking all of your water....eating all of your points. Please do not get discouraged. Each body is different and just stick to it. I am sure you will see results soon
    Good luck with your journey
  • If osmeone already here checked, then I am sure the target is correct. One big thing I will add - make sure you are getting your water in every day! That really helps
  • Thanks so much for checking my points.

I'm not discouraged and I'm not going to give up, I think I know where I'm going wrong now, I need more fruit and veggies, I've been quite good but not great. I do weigh and measure everything and I journal my points religously so I'm sure it will work eventually.

One more question if you don't mind. How many points should my husband be on. He is 5'10", 310lbs and has a moderately active job and is 33 years old.
  • Are you eating your Activity points and weekly allowance points? It doesn't work for everyone, but I am one of those people who HAS to eat all of those(APs and WPA's) in order to lose. Try eating your weekly allowance points first and see how it goes. Still if nothing, then try eatin your APs in addition to that.
