I'm reviving a long-standing thread that went by the wayside for a few months. After a hiatus from posting that lasted longer than I thought, and way too long, it's good to be back.
I realized last week that I had been playing with the 20 pounds I'd lost (up a few, back down, up a few, back down and on and on) for two years. So it was time for a new, fresh start. Especially since I hadn't been doing much by way of being on program. It's great to have a new start with a lower starting weight than the previous start, for a change.
Not much else is new - still struggling to start exercising. Still struggling period. But I'll get it done. Weigh-in is Wednesday (that hasn't changed either) and I'm looking forward to seeing a loss.
Carla - It's good to see you here again and it's good to be back! It's great that you are "starting" here with a lower weight than in the past. Please take a moment to pat yourself on the back for that - as we both know, coming back often means coming back having gained what we lost previously!
I'm doing well in general. DH and I went on an almost 2 week vacation to Alaska; 7 nights on a cruise of the Inside Passage, and then some touring on land (Denali National Park, Talkeetna and Anchorage.) Having gotten to the 20 pounds lost mark before the trip I was determined not to gain weight over vacation. Right before vacation I had a miserable stomach flu so my weigh-in right before the trip was low. I both watched what I ate and had a few indulgences food-wise. It was a very active vacation though - at times it was me going to the fitness center on the ship (once) or walking the deck, but it was also just an active, walking/hiking kind of trip. We came home early on a Saturday morning (my usual weigh-in day) so I didn't officially weigh in until the next Saturday and actually lost 0.2 pounds!
It's been a bit of a struggle over the last week though - a bunch of emotional eating that I won't go into but that has to stop - so I didn't weigh in yesterday. It's funny, when I came back from vacation I was out of the "eating in the evening" habit but it's come back this week and I don't like it. Time to do something about it, right?
Exercise-wise since the trip, I've been so-so. I came back (and flew home) with a cold so my first week back I didn't do much. Except for the first few days home (which I spent in bed), I've been doing a short yoga practice every morning to stretch my back. I've done some walking in the pool for a few days and Tony and I got on the tennis court for the first time this year yesterday morning. Still, I'm not getting in the activity in the amount (and variety) I used to and I have to do something about it. I have about 10 more pounds before my goal weight (I think, when I get there I'll see if that's where I want to be and can maintain it) and I've started dancing around my current number rather than losing steadily, so I have to make some changes and activity is one of them.
This week will be a bit of a challenge. Tony and I are going out to the beach but for 2 nights only. My stepdaughter, her fiancee and my grandson are out there so we want to visit. Having gone to Alaska, we're not staying as long as we usually do. Still, it means eating out. Tomorrow night will be a big dinner out for the fiancee's birthday (with some of his family) at a great restaurant where you share dishes. I'll have to be most careful there I think. The next night, I'll be sure to have seafood, which I love.
I'm posting with my last "official" weigh in - last week's. I promise that I will go on Saturday and weigh-in no matter how the week has gone. I've found I do better that way.
It's so good to see that our thread is back! I've missed everyone as I took a couple of months off to see if I could maintain (which I did very well) and am getting back to the business of losing these last 45 pounds! It's good to see you chicks again!
Hi everyone. It is good to see so many new or returning users. WElcome back all! Well, I weighed in this morning........loss of 2 pounds!!! I guess being OP a little and TOM last week didn't keep me from losing. Hopefully this week I will be better at staying OP. Maybe I can see a bigger loss. Good luck to everyone and have a great week!
This is just a quick fly-by. We are heading out to the beach this morning. I took a sneak peek this morning and it wasn't pretty but well deserved because the last few nights I have been snacking like there's no tomorrow. It sounds funny but I'm going to use this mini-vacation to try to get back on track. When we were away in July, I had three meals a day but I didn't snack. That's what I'd like to get back to - or maybe a few mini-meals during the day but the evening "put anything into my mouth" business has to end. Maybe the sneak peek will help scare me back to better habits. I'm going to try to get a couple of walks in (even in hot and humid weather I love walking on the beach) and am bringing my yoga mat (have to with my back.)
Have a great couple of days if I don't get to post.
Judy
Judy - I hope you're having fun at the beach. I love the beach so. Your Alaska vacation sounds wonderful; the stomach flu beforehand, not so much. You hit the 20 pound mark before your vacation? Great job! You've done well since I've been gone, I see. I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with emotional eating and snacking at night. Our struggles are a constant bother, aren't they. I bet you do better while you're away this week. I find that it's often easy for me to at least maintain, if not lose, on a vacation because the snacking, especially late night, just doesn't happen.
Mom2 - Good to see you again, too! Good job on maintaining the past few months. I'm in the same place as you; I've been maintaining, but have to get back to losing mode.
MK - I don't think I've met you yet; so nice to meet you. (My memory is horrible lately, so if we have met here before, my apologies.) Congrats on a great loss!
I lost 2.4 pounds this week, so I'm happy about that. I'd like to lose another 8 pounds before my appointment with my dr. in a month, so I need to keep up that pace. I just got back from the farmer's market. Our market is so much better this year than last year. I'm trying to do all my produce shopping there so that I'm buying good, local, and for the most part organic, food. I've fallen in love with one stand's different heirloom and speciality tomatoes and have been enjoying them all summer. Definitely worth the little bit of extra money. Judy, I think of you and tomato sandwiches everytime I buy them. Have you been enjoying your sandwiches yet? I haven't had one - these are almost too good to spoil with bread and mayo. I'll have to buy some plum tomatoes at the market next week so I can have a couple of sandwiches. Tonight's dinner will be some sliced tomatoes, some sweet corn a neighbor gave us, chicken and fresh berries (blueberries and raspberries) for dessert. Now that's good eating!
Weighed in today and was dead even with last week. This, however is the week of the month that I usually gain a half pound, so I'll take it. I really wanted a loss, I stayed on plan every day, so maybe next week I'll see a big drop. It's so good to see everyone on this thread again!
Well weighed in this morning and was 166 even! 4lbs lost just this week. Been trying really hard to count my points. today will be a little tougher. hanging out in orlando with visiting family. I'm going to try my best though to keep on track.
Hope everyone else is doing well!
