points/calories

  • If one point equals 50 calories, then how come when I use my scale, fiber/fat/calories equals points, it doesn't seem that way. For instance, I ate a strawberry applesause cup that had 1pt, but 80 calories. I am so confused. Also someone that only has 20 pts, would only get 1000 cal per day, if 1 pt equals 50 calories. Isn't that too low for anyone to go.
  • One point doesn't always equal 50 calories. It's just a rough average. But one point can contain a lot more. A food containing 115 calories, 0 fat, and 4 g fiber would equal just 1 point. Reduce the fiber to 2 g and it equals 2 points. Your calories will vary from day to day, which many experts say is best.

  • While what Suzanne is true here is a list of approximately W/W puts out:

    20 points = 1150 calories
    22 points = 1250 calories
    24 points = 1350 calories
    26 points = 1450 calories
    28 points = 1550 calories
    30 points = 1650 calories
    32 points = 1750 calories
    34 points = 1850 calories
35 points = 1900 calories (Weekly Points Allowance)
    36 points = 2050 calories

Remember this is not always true but a good guide and DOES NOT include the 200-250 calories a day W/W built into the program for free veggies.

So with the veggies, a 20 pt per day person would still get above 1200 calories. That is good, Thanks alot
