1 Point Pita ?!

  • When I looked up pita bread in the WW books, they say a small pita (or half a large pita) is 1 point. Based on my points calculator and the nutritional info on packages of various brands of pita bread, I have NEVER found a 1 point pita. Has anyone else had success with this ? Does anyone have any brands they recommend ? Thanks.
  • I haven't been able to find one either! I can only find 2 pt ones. Mind you they are large.
I like to make pizza with them and also stuff them with salad. They make a great lunch.
  • We have Sarahara brand here in Chicago and using their nutritional information the small size (about 4" round) calculate out to 1 point. Both the regular white and whole wheat are 1 point.

Or, are you sure your brands nutritional info is for 1 pita = 1 serving? Maybe your brand is 2 pitas = 1 serving.

Don't feel too deprived ... I see people on this board talking about fat free tortillas that are 1 point and I cannot find them in Chicago either. Different areas of the country get different brands - especially for locally made things like bread and milk.

  • I use the Sahara brand which is made by Thomas. The count is 1 point for the small ones and 2 points for the larger ones. Sometimes I prefer to use 2 slices of any of the "light" breads for only 1 points. I feel as though I am eating more.
  • Howdy all,

Here in Texas we have a bazillion tortilla companies. And the only ones that come close are the small corn ones. The flour ones are generally 2pts or more, depending on the lard content. The FF flours are tough and unappetizing IMO.

Anyone found a 1pt English muffin? I hear about them, but am wondering if folks mean 1/2 of a split one?
  • 1 point pitas and English muffins
    Trader Joe's has a 1-point pita. It's a small one (I guess 4"?) made of wheat. It has 80 calories, 2g fiber, 1g fat.

Harvest Pride makes a high fiber, low fat English muffin. I buy them at Safeway stores in northern Virginia. 1 muffin has 100 calories, 5g fiber, 0g fat.
