I was in Tennesee last week at my sisters and they had the orange push-ups (and another flavor). They had corn syrup in them so they were out for me :( I may have to see if I can come up with a recipe on my own for them since it is 93 right now here in Mid-Michigan! I will let you know if I figure anything out...I figure it would take some unflavoried geletin, yogurt (want to make them as healthy as possible), and orange concentrate, and some sweetner- what do you think?

Kelly_S 06-13-2001 06:53 PM

www.schwanns.com has orange and chocolate and bubblegum flavored pushups!

Do they pack them in dry ice, Kelly? It just seems kind of obscene to go to so much technological trouble to recreate what used to be the world's simplest pleasure. Not that I'm ruling it out or anything, despite my sanctimonious talk. YUM, baby!

Mals, you are so right about these new bomp pops not cutting the mustard. They even call them Patriot Pops now, in some bizarre nod to post-Cold War terminology. I still sometimes buy 'em in the summertime, because they're one point each if I recall correctly. A couple of summers ago, on a wildly hot night, we cooked a VERY elaborate, extremely formal dinner for some gourmet friends of ours, and followed it up with bomb pops. They were beside themselves with delight--seriously!

Hey, y'all, another thing that's one point and worth it is original Fudgsicles. I've had all the lowfat wannabes, and I can't see saving 20 calories when the 60-cal original baby tastes so much better. They're all one point, so I'm thinking we should wallow in the pleasure of the better one-point option. I'm still learning quality, not quantity...

I know that Schwann's makes BOMB POPS too. Most places they do have delivery. Not sure what you are talking about with 'technology.'

ShakeThoseHips 06-14-2001 04:05 PM

Dry ice, if they use it.

Shake, Still don't understand the dry ice?!?!? I know that they don't ship via mail it's a delivery service and it comes in refrigerated trucks. ;)

After reading some of the conversation about sno-cones I went down to the local vendor and asked. I watched him and another kid make at least 15 cones each and each time they poured syrup on the ball of ice for an average of 5 sec. I spent a $1.50 and asked them if I could get my syrup on the bottom, think I was a nut they did it.

I measured the suyrp and it came to just at 4 tablespoons @ 1 point a spoonful. My best guess using this method 4 points.

enjoy!!!!!!!!1

Kelly--gotcha; it's a local chain then. Too bad for me.

Rescue, you are a hero on these boards. We will not forget the day Rescue went the extra mile to seek the solution to our icy-treat dilemma. Thanks!

I don't know where you are located but it is a nationwide (in the states)...not in all places but most places so it's not local. ;)

Check out their website. They have a bunch of good stuff like a 3 point 5 ounce filet mignon. And almost all of their ice cream novelties are 2 or less points. :)

Rescue---------I want to thank you for your investigation and imformation. It is much appreciated.

Thanks again,
Kay

All this talk about snow cones... mmm... here's a twist to that original question. Does anyone know what the points might be for a 'slushie'? Like the ones you can get at 7-11 stores??

I thought they might be a great low point alternative to ice cream on hot days, but now I'm not so sure...

Thanks.

Christine

O.k....next question....anyone got any idea on the nutritional info on Parrot Ice? It's advertised as just fruit juice...but I'm sure there's some other stuff in there....and none of the convenience stores that serve them seem to have nutritional info...so they say! *L*

The Banana Berry flavor is awesome!
