Question for Smoothie Makers

  • I have been trying to make Yogurt smoothies for breakfast as a lower fat/lower calorie, healthier and cheaper alternative to Slim-Fast and others. Ihave a problem though getting that frozen feel to it. My ice cubes never crush up right, they either start melting or I just end up with a blended drink with smaller ice cubes in it. Any idea how I can get the ice cubes to crush up better?
  • Don't use ice cubes, use frozen bananas!
  • Make sure you have enough liquid (ie, water, milk, juice, Crystal Lite, Wal-Mart Clearly Water, etc) with your ice.
  • i use 1/2 c milk, 1/2 c low carb yogurt and frozen fruit no ice
  • I used a combination of frozen fruit and ice cubes. I use an immersion hand held blender that works great for smoothies. It's also great for pureeing all kinds of things, cottage cheese (to make spreads or toppings), hummus, etc.
  • With frozen strawberries you get just the right consistency...I only use the ice if the fruit isn't frozen...try freezing some drained canned peaches too.
  • yep strawb. are my fav!
  • With my blender I have to only put the ice in first and crush it before adding my other ingreidents. Maybe that would help.
