Question for Smoothie Makers

I have been trying to make Yogurt smoothies for breakfast as a lower fat/lower calorie, healthier and cheaper alternative to Slim-Fast and others. Ihave a problem though getting that frozen feel to it. My ice cubes never crush up right, they either start melting or I just end up with a blended drink with smaller ice cubes in it. Any idea how I can get the ice cubes to crush up better?

Don't use ice cubes, use frozen bananas!

Make sure you have enough liquid (ie, water, milk, juice, Crystal Lite, Wal-Mart Clearly Water, etc) with your ice.

i use 1/2 c milk, 1/2 c low carb yogurt and frozen fruit no ice

I used a combination of frozen fruit and ice cubes. I use an immersion hand held blender that works great for smoothies. It's also great for pureeing all kinds of things, cottage cheese (to make spreads or toppings), hummus, etc.

With frozen strawberries you get just the right consistency...I only use the ice if the fruit isn't frozen...try freezing some drained canned peaches too.

With my blender I have to only put the ice in first and crush it before adding my other ingreidents. Maybe that would help.
