doofus question!

  • Ok I know that I should know this, but do beans, as in black, or kidney, etc. count as eating a vegetable?

Beans are a legume, which means they're from a plant, but I have never seen them classified as a vegetable. They are usually considered both a source of protein and complex carbohydrates. Under the old WW selection plan, beans could be either a "bread" or a "protein." I personally would not count them towards my 5 fruits and veggies per day.

  • Hi Elizabeth,

THAT'S what I was thinking about from the "old" WW. I knew it could be considered one of two selections but couldn't remember which two. Thanks for setting me straight.
