Default Salad dressing point question

Can anyone help me out with the point count per tablespoon for this recipe? It is my homemade salad dressing.

1 cup extra virgin olive oil
2/3 cup red wine vinegar

I can't figure out how to separate out the vinegar to get the points. I know olive oil is 4 points per tbsp. but I can't figure out how to calculate the points for 1 tbsp. including the vinegar.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.

Hi Andreasmom:

OK. It's really simple math. The olive oil is 3 points per tablespoon anyway -- not 4 (1 pt per teaspoon.)

Now, you've got 1 and 2/3 cups of a liquid whose total points value is 49 (oil=48 plus the 1 tbls of sugar).

So, since we know that there are 16 tablespoons in a cup, the total volume in tbls. of your liquid is roughly 26 (16 for 1 cup, and about 10 for the 2/3 cup.)

49 points divided by 26 (tablespoons) = 1.88 points. Rounding UP as WW does, it would be 2 points per tablespoon.

Hope that helps. You're very diligent. Keep up the good work.

Regards, E.

Thank you so much again, leader. I don't know why I have had a mental block with this but I have. 2 points per tablespoon is ok by me - I was counting it as 3! It's weird about the extra virgin olive oil. I have read that each teaspoon is 1 point which I agree that 3 tsp. = 1 tbsp. = 3 points. However, when I do the math on my ww calculator (fabulous) it comes out to 4 points. Also, in my ww guidebook it said 4. I asked about this at a meeting and a member came up with a solution - don't use the tablespoon to measure, just use 3 teaspoons and count them as one each (LOL)! Anyway, I do appreciate the help with what was a "brain burner" for me. This is a fantastic forum. Have a great day.
