Cool Yes, it's really April!

I am so happy that spring seems to be here! Flowers out, sunny, the contractors working to enclose my back porch are almost done. Yes, it's also true that my seasonal allergies have kicked in (hello my buddy Flonase), but that's the price I pay.

Had a very good week foodwise. Stayed stable at 131 for the 2nd week in a row. It looks like I'll have to crank up the exercise to get below 130. OTOH, pants are fitting and I look just fine so if I hang out right here for a couple of weeks I'm not going to panic.

I have really enjoyed following the Self challenge--it has given me lots of good ideas for exercise, especially new strength routines. Anyone else want to be a Self buddy? I am starting Week 3 of it this week. Overall goals: stay at 131 (or lose 1 lb), 4 YMCA workouts, track daily water.

How is everyone doing? Here's to a successful week!

Morning everyone! I hope this finds everyone up and at it today! The sun is shining!!!!!
I was doing ok with the "eating" thing.........but, last Sunday I started this new medication and it gives me an upset (sour) stomach, like nausa, and I keep eating to put out the "fire" so to speak! Grrrrrr. I am going to give this medicine until the end of the month (per my doctor) and if I'm not feeling better I am not going to take it. She said it may take several weeks!
Well gotta run......I'm going to post on the challenge thread! See ya all there! Have a wonderful day!

Elana - seems like the self challenge that you were telling us about is working great for you! Good girl! Keep it up! Oh, 130#######!!!!!!!!, that is awesome!

Steph - a little over 1# is ok.........you can get in control of that! Here's a little to get you through this week!

Hi all!!

Thanks for getting us started this week Elana!!! I think the self challenge looks awesome!!!!!! The exercise moves are sure to get results. I am just sooooo bad at moving myself through exercises, I do better with a DVD. Also, I am pretty out of shape, so they'd probably kill me LOL. I am committed to increaseing my ability so I am starting out SLOOOOOOOOWLY and moving up. I am thinking after this first 12 weeks I will do something more rigourus. I started a challenge thread. You are welcome to jump in there and let us know how the self challenge is workingf or you and we can support you even though you are a couple weeks ahead of us. I am really intrigued by thier program. I think you deserve a couple just for getting to week 3! You go!!!!!

Steph_sorry to hear you gained. It's a small set back, you can get that off!!!! You are doing great!!!!!

Jeanne-I hope your medication gets straighted out and that it works for you theway it should!!!

Ok baby's crying I have to run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ladies. I stayed the same weight this week. I guess it is better than gaining. I am going to try water aerobics this summer. I have been working out on the treadmill, small weights and the elliptical machine. My body needs a break from all of the pounding. Has anyone taken water aerobics? Have a good week ladies!!!

Good Morning!!!

Fost-I used to teach water aerobics and water step aerobics in highschool and college! I had a great lady to learn from, her workouts would make you sweat in the water, but it was so easy on your joints. I took over her class for quite a long while. I loved it. I also did teh step aerobics, which I didn't care for as much and was only taught for two 6 week sessions. I taught at two different facilities and the second place focused more on elderly participants easing the pain of joints and stretching muscles that they had difficulty using on land. So we implemented a more cardio driven class in the evenings whch I taught.

The first place had a movable floor pool, so the entire pool was at one level that could be made deeper or shallower (2 feet for tiny tikes). That was great b/c you didn't have to worry about non swimmers getting too deep. The second facility was a standard pool and it was a bit trickier, we weren't able to utilize the entire space.

Anyway water aerobics is great, you can get a quility cardio and resistence work out. We used clean empty milk jugs to push down into the water for arm exercises and as a pivoting point for ab work that when done right will really tone your tummy. Alot of people use the water noodles, I don't find them nearly as effective.

I really miss being able to spend that much time in the water. It was fabulous exercise. I also taught swimming lessons and probably did a couple miles IN THE WATER just walking adn running on a Saturday, want to talk about a work out! So I highly recommend any water exercise regemine

Nice work on the 2.5 pound loss! After my ecstacy about spring, it is actually below 40 and snowing here today (Eastern Mass.). Cold, nasty, overcast, argh. I had hot cereal in the morning, which I guess is a plus. At least I'm still full.

Had a job interview yesterday for a middle school position. Interview went well (I am going back for 2nd round) but I didn't feel that the place is a great fit for me. I will continue to look elsewhere.

Take care!

GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

Elana-Congrats on the interview, even if it's not the right fit for you I am sure the exerpeience of interviewing will be helpful It's cold here too, we had like 2 inches of snow

Carolina- It's great to have you This is a great group, sometimes things slow down, but we seem to have a pretty steady stream of regulars I am glad you found us! Your 10% definatley deserves teh famous Slimmin' Sistas 21 Nanner Salute....

GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday was a wash for exercise. By 11 pm I had given up on the notion. The baby I watch is teething and the poor little guy just cried and cried yesterday. I worked on packing, loading the gps and mapping software on my laptop, cleaned my office, so my husband wouldn't become burried in the inevitable avalanche of crap on my desk while I am away, and tore apart and washed my single stroller. I really want to take my double one but my gramma is famous for over packing so I know it won't fit.

Well I need to think about sweeping and mopping as well as finish packing. I am not sure if I can exercise today either. I am going to have to really double up at my sisters. Have a fabulous Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
